Nate and I stopped in to buy some wine for Christmas and Ben, the new owner, was so helpful and friendly as always (he usually helped us pick out wines back when it was L&S). The shop is small but nicely curated, and they have wine for many price points. I especially like the $25 table, which is what we mostly shopped from. Ben directed us to a nice variety of different wines that would appeal to our group. They do free wine tastings and have a wine club that includes two curated bottles per month, 10% off in-store wine purchases, and other perks. I'm really glad this local shop is nearby and will always shop here first for any wine needs.

It was an old van that had a leaking roof so water was dripping on the floor the entire ride. The tv monitor on the van did not work. We were told we would go to three restaurants downtown for wine tasting and small plates. We only went to two restaurants. One restaurant was downtown and only served a one charcuterie board with the wine that our entire party had to share. The other restaurant was a pizzeria in a strip mall. The driver was not accommodating and did not clean the bus after the previous group before us. I spent more than a thousand dollars for a dissatisfying experience and did not get my money's worth. They were setting up for free wine tastings, which they do every Saturday at noon. One of the employees said that they get a lot of regulars who come in for the tastings as a fun way to kick off their weekend. The shop is super chock full and they definitely are making use of every square inch of the store. I felt a little claustrophobic with shelves super close together and things everywhere you looked. I was also worried about bumping into things on the shelves. There's even an upstairs with more wine! The name makes me think of wine for sure, but The Crushed Grape also has a beer, seltzer, cider, and spirits, as well as gift items, snacks, charcuterie board accoutrements, mixers, barware, etc. I was a little overwhelmed with everything in there and couldn't really tell if the beverages were organized by type or region, etc. If you're looking for anything specific, I would just ask, otherwise be prepared to browse. There were only about five other people in the store at the time but I just felt so crowded. I couldn't imagine being in there at full capacity. They didn't have the cider I was looking for (I'd tried it at the International Beer, Wine, and Food Festival the previous night) but I was able to snag a case of some seltzer I had also tried at the festival.

However, the mini chicken chimis were good and the queso pared great. However, the Memphis style pork taco stole the show: pork cheddar jack, wonderful coleslaw and a sweet BBQ sauce was the perfect blend of greatness in a gringo flour taco. They have a pub like interior and an acceptable shaded outdoor sitting area with a pond and water fountian that reduces the road noise. If you find yourself within 50 miles it is well worth the drive.
