Actually yes!…read more Aspen has their own annual insurance (around $60 I believe) for folks whose employer does not include dental or like me opted out (not that my plan was accepted anywhere around here according to a coworker). You don't know you need the insurance until a vertical root fracture happens. The practice also takes CareCredit and if you use cc you know how much that interest free payment plan means. The office administrators are incredible and will do their utmost to ensure you are seen sooner when experiencing pain. From a non-pain appointment I was also seen a little early (no complaints here). The dentists and hygienists are amazing. They listen without judgment and give honest opinions and referrals. They take seriously that some of us have childhood dental trauma and specific anxieties. When I needed one more shot of novocaine there were no questions asked and the molar extractions went quick and smoothly. I have always been allowed my noise cancelling headset and a female hygienist in the room if not a female dentist/oral surgeon. I felt seen, heard and respected. They tried to save my second molar and when it broke weeks later; I was immediately scheduled for the second extraction. I cannot recommend this place enough for affordable dental care.

I thought, "there's no way he's in-network with my insurance."  I can't be that lucky. I was!  From the front desk, to the dental techs, to the Man himself. AMAZING! Dr. Mickens took me through every step from xray, through root canal testing.  I've never had ANY doctor specializing in ANYTHING do this before. I ended up having the procedure a few days later. I thought my case would be a lot more difficult because the tooth had a permanent crown covering it. But Dr. Mickens explained how that wouldn't be a problem for him. He completed the root canal in one visit. That's a first for me. Most times I've had root canals, the doctors never completed in one visit. I thought maybe there was a mandatory wait period between starting and finishing a root canal. Nope. Turns out it's skill level.  It's been four days, and I can bite down on the tooth with very little discomfort. Theres no need for pain meds anymore, either. That's pretty good for me, considering my track record with postoperative dental pain.   You wont find better than Dr. Mickens, or his staff. You'll know it as soon as you step through his office door. You're in good hands.

While waiting my toddler wanted to play in the play area that was obviously disgusting with open wires. Trying to keep him by my side while waiting 2 hours for an appointment is absolutely ridiculous. When I asked why was the appointment taking so long it was explained to me they were short staffed due to the death of a staff members relative. I had to wait at least 3 months for this appointment and this week they claim to be short staffed. I would not take my dog here. The staff is respectful and friendly but there is no excuse for the service I received today. I would not recommend this place ever.
