Tour for our Women's Motorcycle Club
    Nicole W.

I can't say enough good things about this place!! I want to start by saying how AMAZING they are when it comes to supporting the community... they go over and above when it comes to support. What is even cooler, is that you can ride your motorcycle through the distillery, then get a tour of it along with samples if you'd like in the sampling room! Along with supporting the community, they also use locally sourced ingredients. Good things aren't cheap and cheap things aren't good... their selection is soooooooo tasty! Whether it's the double double, raspberry vodka, or garlic vodka which is perfect for Caesars, there is literally something for everyone in their selection. You can find many of their selections in stores, but I highly recommend to pop out to the distillery for a tour and sampling before buying your choice. I forgot to ask, but someone said that if you take their bottles back that you can get money off of your next purchase... I'm not sure if it's true, but why not ask next time you're there!

This on ice. So perfect. OR add it to coffee, or hot chocolate, or milk, or Brum, or root beer....the possibilities are endless!!

I've been to a micro brewery & a small chocolate tour that reminded me of a brewery but Rig Hand by far puts on the best show. It's a very down to Earth, small town feel distillery and maybe that's why I felt so at home. Geoff was full of information & a great tour guide, Bailey tended to us & let us try all the different flavors they had to offer. It was a fantastic experience, I just can't believe it took me this long to go check it out! By far my favorite was the Double Double. It's AMAZING! I took a bottle home that night! I also thoroughly enjoyed the Brum. So delicious. I hope to adopt a bottle & give it a good home soon :)

I absolutely love coming to Big Rig Distillery! Walking in here feels like walking into a family members home. Whether you're greeted by an employee, the owner, or even their lovely dog Charlie, you feel welcome from the very beginning. Taking a tour here is awesome! If you're lucky enough to have Geoff facilitate your tour, you're going to come out feeling the same passion for this craft Distillery and their products as Geoff puts out. His knowledge and stories keep you wanting to hear more! After the tour, make sure to stop by their bar and try some of the amazing products they make. Their speciality is their Caesar made with their Garlic Vodka, but my favourite is their raspberry vodka with a little bit of Sprite or Ginger Ale! This spot is great for a date night or a group of friends, and they are willing to accommodate everyone and share their journey with you. I highly suggest checking Big Rig out - Best thing in Nisku!

When someone with a huge passion for local craft distilling is creating alcohol, he can do no wrong. We saw a cool looking bottle at an Edmonton liquor store, shaped like an oil rig with a black wax seal to mimic oil and saw their distilling was in Edmonton. We promptly drove to Nisku, never one to pass up an opportunity to get a tour and tasting. Seemingly not open for visitors, we walked inside and immediately were greeted by Geoff, the most friendly and passionate distiller behind Big Rig. He took us on a tour of the place, showing us all their stills and hand bottling process. We got to see the tubs where their vodka was being infused with garlic and another with Saskatoon berries. The tour was down to earth and informative. We loved hearing about other Alberta distilleries, and the relationship they have together. After the tour we went to the tasting room - a very cool space with rig-like stools and a very cool looking bar. Geoff proceeded to let our group sample their gin, vodka, brum (a beet sugar rum), and a product called Double Double (a million times better than Baileys). The tour was free as was a caesar made with their garlic vodka, they only ask that you spread the word about their distillery. Not a problem when the products they are creating are superb and worthy of spreading the news. Hey you, yeah you - get out and try Big Rig!!!

Two words, Garlic Vodka. Sound weird, there are chunks of garlic floating in the bottle, it looks like a snow globe. Mix with Clamato juice and it's the ultimate Caesar. For real, this was crazy good. The distillery is in an industrial estate in Nisku, and guys... it's so worth the drive. I got a tour from the owner Geoff who told me about his past making moonshine and how his hobby became a dream job! He has a passion for local and it shows. All ingredients are locally sourced. There is a shop you can purchase one of over 30 products they make at Rig Hand. That's right, it's not just vodka! Got to say the bottles are really cool. Filled up and labeled by hand. Once the stopper goes in they dip in black wax so it looks like oil. 'Berta! There is a large function room you can hire and a smaller bar area. There is even an office dog. It's such a fun place. I'd like my next bday party to be held there please.

Owner is a great guy, very entertaining and clearly passionate

What a hoot! I had a smile on my face from the moment we walked in til we left. There's nothing like being time warped into the 1970s and watching old cartoons and advertisements on the TVs while eating your dinner or having a drink. Everything from the color scheme to the light fixtures to the trinkets collected behind the bar screams 1970s, and made for a fun, goofy, comforting nostalgia. We started with drinks at the bar while we waited for a table. They have a good selection of local brews as well as cocktails. Even the names of the drinks made me smile. I got the "dirty shiddy martini." Then we moved to our table in the "rumpus room." The menu is no-frills and straightforward. Not a ton of options, but you're there for a burger! They have vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options to make everyone happy. We each got a burger Alabama style, split some fries with "flat sauce," and added a giant pickle on a stick for shids and giggles. Delicious, it all hit the spot! Staff is friendly and quick. It will be busy when you go so just enjoy the experience!

I attended a tour and tasting and was properly impressed. Thanks to Chelsea who was an exceptional hostess. I'm not a big vodka fan, but Holy Moly! This stuff is delicious. Just sipping it straight is delightful. The gin was also as intriguing. So complex. So very smooth. Finally, the smokey, aged gin. Gorgeous colour and aromas. I'm dreaming of the cocktails I can build with this bottle. It's more expensive than the vodka and gin, but this is a lovingly crafted product that really speaks for itself. You just have to taste it. Gosh, did I taste lavender? Who knows. It's a big dream for this outfit. I wish them every success. I know they'll have a huge fan base very soon.

As soon as you walk in, you are transported to a modern and clean neighbourhood distillery and foodie delight! MD Distillery is home to Still ONE spirits. I definitely need to look into taking a tour here. I highly recommend you order a flight and a specialty cocktail! For our first visit we shared a juice, a cocktail, a flight, a main, a salad, three shareables, and a dessert. Basically a little sampling of heaven! Let's break it down: Perfect Pear - 1.5 oz. MD dry gin, 1 oz. pear brandy, lemon juice, simple syrup, Prosecco, and torched house foam. This cocktail was PEARfectly smooth and something I'd order again and again! The presentation was beautiful and everything I look for in a specialty cocktail. $15 Next up was our flight - we selected 1 gin, 1 lemon cello, and 2 vodkas. Really fun and a great way to try a variety of their spirits. Definitely save some sips to savour with your meal to bring out different notes! $12 Bread and Butter - The tween gobbled this up and hubs and I barely got a piece each. Everything is house made here even the butter is whipped in house! $4 Crispy Potatoes - Truffled aoili and ketchup. Again, like everything else, housemade with love and bursting with flavor. $6 Bacon Wrapped Plums - Roasted cauliflower and hazelnut dukkah. Delicious! If you've never ordered these anywhere, you are definitely missing out! A great savory and sweet shareable. $12 Beet & Hemp Crusted Goat Cheese - Onion jam, greens, and balsamic vinaigrette. This was probably my favourite dish of the whole meal: I just loooooove a warm goat cheese paired with beets. My personal preference would be for a bit more acidic notes but hubs loved it just the way it was. The golden beets mixed with the traditional reds was a nice touch. $16 Pierogi - Potato and farmers cheese dumplings, caramelized onion, smoked salmon, and Evoolution dill olive oil. This isn't a dish I'd normally order but my daughter had her heart set on it. Everything was cooked to perfection and presented with care. I'm not a big dill fan personally but it was a hot overall with the fam jam. $18 And last but not least, Rosemary Panna Cotta - Passionfruit coulis, white chocolate ganache, and chocolate crumb. OH.EM.ROSEMARY.GEE. I'd come here again and again for this dessert and the beet salad alone! $9 And let's not forget the wonderful servers/bartenders and chefs. We've really lucked out with this local gem that captures everything I love about exquisite food while escaping any sense of pretentiousness. I can't wait to see what they come up with next. Be sure to follow them on FB and Insta for current creations! Can't wait to go back - Two thumbs way up! P.S. Maple Still ONE vodka for the Canada win!
