I am shocked at the prices! Last year it was the $5 an item store this year closer to $6 store!! For the income medium here it is robbery!!! Seems to me a lot of geed in this family owned business! It's pretty much the only game in town if you're looking for a large market, though I did see a smaller market (on Aultman?) I think. But in a town of sub-5000 you definitely have to appreciate a grocery store of this size. We were only in town a few days, but found ourselves here on two different occasions, because the timing of meals worked out just so. We did look in the pre-packed foods area and though the deli had some wraps/salads/sandwiches, it probably wasn't their strong suit. We went with a more DIY approach and grabbed the materials we'd need for a day in the national park. You can grab all the snacks you want here, but we went with a pre-packaged tuna for the trail and some apples from the produce section. Later, we came back looking for dinner supplies. The hotel had a fridge and microwave, so really, the options are wide open. We tend to go with simple things, so a prepackaged salad it was. But we also kept smelling BBQ, and they have a big smoker out front where they make smoked meats, and then sell the meat in the store. We picked up some smoked pulled pork, rolls, pickles, and felt like we were geared up for a great dinner. Indeed it was, and if that smoker is around you could def do worse--we were fans and it all made a nice picnic in the park. There's something magic about road trip grocery store piece-together meals and it's become one of my favorite things to do while in a town like Ely. Ridley's came through and even though the prepped foods weren't awesome, we prepped our own and found a good selection and good pricing to make more road trip picnic memories. read more

Every time I'm at this grocery store all of the associates are always so nice. I'd have to say that the selection of fresh veggies and fruits is amazing. They carry so many different item even artichokes. The prices at this grocery store are a little bit on the high side but I'd expect to pay these prices concerning that they are the only grocery store in town. To make your experience more cost-effective I would highly recommend downloading there app. read more

A great place to shop. Buzz in sporting good department was so helpful and very knowledgeable about the products. very good stock of all products especially fishing. prices are great also. guns, ammo, fishing supplies, even Idaho fish and game licenses, etc A must stop store. read more

Very friendly. My husband and I drive through Ely Nv a lot so we always pick up a few groceries there. It's a truck driver's Heaven to be able to park close and shop. Prices are a little bit high on some things but it's much better than truck stop choices. read more

One star for young fella that helped us at the deli. We were in the area scouting for an upcoming hunting trip. If the store does have a manager, they should be terminated and another one installed. Ridley's doesn't manage its stores in Idaho this poorly. The Nevada State building inspector should inspect this store. I tripped and fell from broken concrete on the bare and dirty concrete floor. Many of the items that they do carry are of poor quality and extremely high priced! There is not a great selection of produce and what is there much of which is old and should be disposed of. Waiting in an extremely long line at the one check out open, the line went all the way up into one of the isles of the store! Why were so many of the employees hanging around the customer service desk laughing and talking when there needed to be another checkout stand open? A lady in front of us who is local told us about the Smith's grocery store in West Wendover 118 miles to the north. That lady was kind enough to let us use her store rewards card so we could get the advertised price on the chicken we picked up at the deli counter. The checker at the register refused to do that for us. We drove one hour and 45 minutes to the Smith's Groceries store in West Wendover and had a normal good experience with fair prices. The owners of Ridley's grocery chain need to give this rundown store and it's poor customer service an ENEMA! I PRAY for the residents of Ely another grocery store chain comes in to the town. Small town market in Ely Nevada. Not a large selection on America's Loneliest Highway but this store has groceries and personal care items if you are in need. People are nice here! This is the kind of small town where people are friendly and talk to you walking down the street and everyone waves at each other driving down the road. This grocery store is clean and well stocked; they even had decent produce selection and a well stocked personal care isle. We will definitely stop here again the next time we are traveling down Highway America's Loneliest Highway. read more

Over priced and neglectful customer service station. My wife purchased over 400 dollar's of groceries at self checkout while being stared at without assistance. When she was done she went to customer service to purchase my whiskey and cigarettes. The cashier failed to scan the whiskey but rang up the cigarettes. My wife was rounding up our 3young boys at the same time. She swiped her card, the cashier said nothing. The next day cops showed up at my wife's work with a ticket! We tried to go back and pay but the manager refused to accept payment. The district attorney reviewed the footage and determined my wife was innocent and for me to go in and pay the manager for the bottle. The manager refused once again to accept payment. Needles to say I will not be returning to this store. I will rather travel the 200 plus miles out of town then have my wife be treated as a criminal read more

If I could give a negative star, I would. Visiting town for several days and have had repeated non-customer service service. This morning was it when I was refused by the cashier (who couldn't even muster up a response to my "hello" to him) if he could scan his discount card (so I could pay a justifiable price for 2 of the items I was buying). He claimed he couldn't which is an outright lie because the cashiers have done it for me the 4 times I've been in the store this week. I then walked over to a cashier I've had and who has done it for me and she claimed she never had (how she remembered is beyond me since it had been 2 days prior). Apparently, someone was on site who instilled a lot of fear in them. Just like corporate America wants. Luckily, I'm intelligent enough to know I have choices and I choose to shop the rest of the days at Family Dollar and the gas stations. I had been in 2 other Ridley's prior to this, both in Idaho, and never had any negative visits as I have here. Countless examples during my visits of this market having an inept store manager! I've always considered Albertson's and Vons to be the worst market chain. This must be the worst store in the chain. You can't even find any headquarters contact info on the internet in order to complain to the overpaid CEO! Have to call an Idaho office to get it! Lived in the Ely, NV area for over 6 years. Can never believe their sale ads. Between 80-90% of their ad products they don't have for their "sales" and its always because "it wasn't on the truck" their #1 excuse, or "the truck did not come in". No matter Hiighway 92 runs in front of the store through town. They are the only "market" to serve the town of Ely, NV and McGill, NV. But our citizens have to drive anywhere from 1-1/2 hours away to almost 4 hours away to buy groceries. Such bullshit and inadequate, piss poor service, convenience and choice. The only employee in this store who displayed any sort of decency, courtesy, or helpfulness was the only one wearing a mask while I was there. Many of the other staffers gave me dirty looks, or would not look me in the eye, because I was protecting myself--and them--from the ongoing pandemic. You'd think that a store that has several employees currently out with COVID would take this more seriously, but you'd be wrong. This store has more kinds of non-chocolate candy than it does fresh produce. Also, do not purchase anything refrigerated or frozen from this store. I will not go back to this store until they comply with the governor's mandate to require face coverings for customers. I had to leave the store because there were so many people not wearing masks. They said it was not their job to "police" the customers. Actually, the OSHA directive says that they are "required to mandate the use of face coverings by patrons". They flat out refuse to do so, and now the customers know that they don't have to comply and they will still get service. Because of that, I can't go shopping because I have a compromised immune system. Thanks a lot! read more

If I can give a 0 I would due to very poor customer service. I usually don't write bad reviews but when I went to this store at the deli, I asked Annie if she can help me with the mc n cheese and ask me very rudely what size I want and I told her nicely I think You only have 1 size then she grab the mc n cheese and slam into the counter and said here with an attitude I then said never mind I don't want it anymore and I don't like you slamming it with an attitude she then said cos my hands are wet‍ I asked for her name she refuse to tell me instead she yelled at me telling me to follow her to talk to the customer service so I did and the lady at the customer service is kind enough to tell me her name. Bottom line, Annie needs to get a good customer service training if not she shouldn't be working in that field. read more

With only 2 grocery stores in town, and this one being the larger of the two, there isn't much to say. It's a small town grocery store with friendly people checking your groceries and stocking the shelves. It can be busy just after the normal working hours. Prices on some things are reasonable and some things are ridiculous. Like any other store. There are a few things I would like to take back home with me to Reno. I love the service in the Deli area. They also have a pretty good produce selection. It would be nice if they could open a little earlier too. read more

There are not a lot of options in Ely so it is OK. It is very convenient to the hotels on the south end of town. We were staying at La Quinta so the convenience factor was a pure 5 stars. It is a large, full service grocery. We just needed to bolster our wine supply before heading into Utah. The wine selection is . . . . Well, Dorothy, you are not at Raley's anymore. The selections were modest and were heavy on the 9.99 large bottles large commecial wineries. We did ;atch on to some La Crema Chardonnay. We felt like we found diamonds. So taking our treasures to the check out we were faced with hoards of people stocking up on a weeks worth of groceries. To the store's credit, all the lanes were open. We picked what looked like the shortest line. Our checker was sloooooowwwww. Every produce item needed to be looked up. One. At. A. Time. So, if coming through Ely, it is probably the best option. read more

Reading through the other reviews I'm struck by those low ratings from out-of-towners spoiled by big city conveniences, multiple stores to choose from and a large enough population base to support such competition. Be realistic and get down off your snobby hobby horses please. I grew up in Los Angeles and could whine about no Home Depot, no Wal-Mart, no Trader Joes, no Whole Foods... but WHY? Considering trucking costs and being so remote, I think Ridley's does a fine job. Yes, sorry babies if they run out of stuff and don't have another truck immediately ready to drive 400 miles from some urban depot to instantly stock your every need! Get real, and be thankful for what we DO have. There IS a small organic produce section...not tip top ultra fresh, but at least they are testing out to see how many will buy. The managers are willing to try and special order items too, but they can be limited by regional supply. Don't have the snob wine selection you want? Ooooh, gosh, sorry. Head back to your crowded urban yuppie safe place...Please! Life must be so tough. With UPS and Amazon I can get most any item outside the basics, so what's the problem? Damn glad for Ridleys and the people there. And it's a very good trade off for no longer living in the rat race congested urban gulags... read more

Meh. We stopped here to get snacks for the road and take a bathroom break on the way to Vegas. It's almost a general store in that it sells a lot of other merch (like lots of plastic housewares and things that look like they should be in Family Dollar. I saw a special plastic cup specifically for making Cups O'Noodles and I just got sad). Ridley's is known for its donuts but we didn't buy any on this trip. They did have a good sized bakery, though. The deli had the standard fried things and assorted salads. I was surprised to find two different kombucha brands but that's about the extent of the health nut stuff. Aside from prepackaged parfaits and Sabra hummus, I didn't find a whole lot that screamed "Eat me! I'm sort of healthy!" I didn't look closely but it also seemed that there were no organic choices in Produce. However, my husband (who has stayed in Ely many times) says this is the best bet for road food in Ely because you can cobble something together if you're trying to eat healthy. Prices on many things were good but I'm never surprised by high prices when I visit a store in the middle of nowhere. I honestly don't know why prices weren't higher considering the cost of gas to truck anything into Ely! One note about the bathroom: there is only one women's and one men's at the front of the store. Ridleys needs to really be mindful of their fruit. Grapes had mold on them, Apples that were purchased had work holes inside of them. The health department really needs to look into these "fresh fruit" items before somebody gets sick, or worse. read more

This store is what's here. During winter, most shopping occurs at lunchtime, after five p.m., and on weekends. Items might disappear from inventory for several weeks. Much of the time, shelves are bare. Business picks up in early May. Tons of travelers. The store doesn't or can't staff for the May through October season. Many of the problems store customers face are due to a lack of front-end management. For example, I'm standing at a register, light's on, employee's stuff is there, but the cashier isn't, and nobody knows or even cares enough to tell me where the cashier is. If your time is wasted, oh well. On rare occasions, when someone actually gets an extra cashier, it's always free-for-all to get to the open line. In other towns, the cashier would go and get a customer in order to be fair and to avoid bloodshed. The lines get super-long. Whether you want five items or fifty, the checkout process is the longest part of each trip. Long ago, other chains figured out that if you make people wait too long, they'd just steal the items they really need and abandon stuff they don't. This store is what's here. If another chain came in, I think they'd dominate very quickly. I have actually driven from Ely to West Wendover (and Tonopah) to avoid shopping that Ridley's Ely. read more

Was staying at the hotel next door and wanted to get a quick dinner after a long day's drive. Went to the deli and ordered the special they had advertised on the front of the deli case AND on a standup sign at the front of the deli line. The clerk first denied such a special existed.. and I explained I wanted the special on the sign right in front of me. She finally walked around the counter read BOTH signs, walked back behind the counter and said she didn't have a button to ring it up and so she couldn't sell it to me. I was incredulous!! read more

This place is not for you if you are looking for a clean, bright and welcoming place to buy your groceries! Filthy entryway, trash filled parking lot and nothing in the produce area appears to be edible. There is not much in the way of choices in this town. Here on work assignment for 3 months. Prices shockingly expensive for the most part. Deli counter very slow, and inattentive staff. Did not experience friendly or unfriendly staff. Just staff doing their jobs. At check out I forgot my rewards card, neither cashier nor people in line would swipe their card for me. That's just unheard of in Florida. Just sayin. Store big and clean. No good fresh fruit available. I haven't been able to cash in on sale items, shelfs are empty. Very good doughnuts in the deli!! I sure miss my Publix!!! read more

If you need to get food supplies for camping/hunting, this is pretty much the one place to get anything grocery related or more. They also have a deli, bakery, some clothes, and is the only place in Ely I'm aware of that sells dry ice. I'm a fan! read more

Ever since this store changed hands it is awful. On the day the ad breaks, the shelves are empty, the sale tags aren't displayed, and the floors and shelves are filthy. I guess they feel since they are pretty much the only grocery store in town, they can just let it be. I think it will be worth it to me to drive 6 miles to McGill and shop there. Very sad. If i was the district manager i would fire the staff and get someone who cares. read more

I was staying a few mountain ranges over from the town of Ely, and was in need of provisions. Thinking that since there was a state prison in the area.....there could be a Wally World too? WRONG!! We discovered Ridley's Family Market (RFM)! It's the epicenter of commerce in this particular part of Nevada and has everything you might need. Everything for a hunter/camper staying a few mountain ranges over or a resident of the still mysterious Ely. Wine...check. Graham crackers...check. Chocolate...check. Marshmallows...check.
