Being mixed race (Japanese, Latin and White), it is often difficult to find a barber or stylist that can cut my hair properly. Sunny is the name of the woman who cut my hair. She took her time with my hair, taking the time to step back and check from different angles periodically. Let's just start by saying, you should never have to tell your stylist that the sides of your head don't match... I showed her a simple medium fade with a small trim off the top. She decided that she was just gonna give me a high fade, that she winged with no precision. There were chunks of hair being chopped in sporadic fashion and with zero care. After I finally helped her decently match my sides (as one side held the medium fade I wanted, the other was high), she then tried to show me to the register without showing me the backside. I then asked her to please show me, and she revealed the worst fade I have ever seen someone do, with a hard line going across the back. There was no fade. I then told her to please fix it and she tried, but could not succeed. I gave up, and told her to stop. I now have one of the worst haircuts in my entire life, nonetheless having to be traumatized about trying a new salon out. I now have to go and pay another barber to fix my hair and have my hair exactly how I didn't want it. If you are reading this, please do not waste your time or money by going here. The opening act shocked me. The hairstylist ordered me to sit down and immediately thereafter, sheared a sizable chunk of hair (no idea how she grabbed scissors so fast). I expected a ramshackle "bowl cut" (befitting a 15$ price tag to follow). However, after another slice, she asked "is this how you want it?" holding up the side curls and gesturing. "Side and top, " I initially responded, before adding, "but "do what you think looks best." Acting with the swift precision of an artist or surgeon, she proceeded to pare and mold my hair to roughly the shape my normal barber gets to in a mere 10 minutes (he takes 30). In between snips, she would hold up a few pieces of hair in different places before cutting one of them, a sign that each snip was done deliberately with a vision in mind. As I mentioned previously, this jet-speed hair-mastery cost only 15 dollars. The stylist was a little rough on the shaving, and she didn't comb the hair well at the end (like my regular stylist does). Was it the best haircut in la? No. But for the price and speed, it hit the mark. Now I know where to go the next time I need a hairdo on the fly! read more

I've been going here for years , I'm 72 and not picked. Had my haircut and paid 30 dollars including tip. But again ,I asked for a trim for I like my hair kind of long. But I received short on the sides. And for 30 dollars they should know how to match both sides. But as usual one is alot shorter than the other.And the sideburn is alot shorter than the other side. Alex is a German master and he is the best stylist at this small but comfortable neighborhood hair salon located in a strip mall at the corner of Beverly and Orlando. Parking can be a hassle at this strip mall so sometimes I park at Chipotle across the street and walk over. Very satisfied with my cut! I love this hidden gem in the Beverly Grove area. Men's haircuts are $15. I believe women's cuts are $25 to $35. You can't beat the value. They take walk-ins and also offer appointments. I've been coming here for about two years and I've had everyone cut my hair. Love them all and can't say enough good things about Jade, Alex, and Gene (pronounced Genie). There are others but I'm not familiar with them. Some stylists are here only one day a week but the aforementioned are typically there 5 days a week. Depending on the day you go, you could get a long line, especially on the weekends in the morning hours when they open. I'd recommend you book an appointment if you plan on going on Saturday or Sunday. My favorite day of the week to get a Cut is late Saturday afternoon. Everyone here has such a great personality. Alex has become my personal hair dresser because we have a lot of fun chatting and catching up on life events. I also have a lot of fun chatting up with the other hair dressers in the house. I came in and a woman who doesn't speak any English basically ignored everything that I said and cut my hair very sloppily the way she wanted to.
