I've spent thousands of hours and ~400% more money completing unfinished or omitted items a reasonable $2.7M home buyer expects. Sod Grass Failure from Hidden Construction Debris ~$20 K +13 weeks During construction I saw EH's landscaper laying sod on clay mixed with construction debris--concrete, nails, pipe, glass, and rocks. Despite immediate notice, EH refused to fix. The grass looked fine through a mild spring but died once summer heat baked the debris. Seven lawn specialists confirmed roots burned by heated concrete and lack of soil depth. Correct replacement required removing debris, adding topsoil, and resodding (~$20K). EH dismisses this as "not a warranty item" and claims "it passed county inspection" and "looked green for ten months." True but irrelevant, inspection only verifies appearance that day; the root system was doomed from the start. Wet Bar $6K+4weeks Original plans included a wet bar near the dining room. EH refused, saying installing it required moving a nearby HVAC grill, a task requiring minimal effort. After closing, we resolved the grill at no cost but paid $5,714 and 4 weeks of work to add the wet bar ourselves. Frozen Pipes & Ineffective Insulation $5K+4 weeks The Finished Room Over Garage (FROG) stayed 49F last winter because garage ceiling was poorly insulated. EH declined to pay extra ~$963 for adequate foam during construction. We paid $5,124 to remedy. The uninsulated FROG toilet drain froze. EH initially refused to fix it for $200, then relented after weeks of debate. FROG bathtub base had no insulation or plywood wall, exposed directly to winter air via soffit vents. Electrical $3K+2 weeks Every light switch was on/off. We spent $3,521 and much time installing smart dimmers EH could have added for extra $963. Another case of EH cost cutting during construction that costs buyers ~300% + time later. Internet Cables 2 weeks Ethernet cables were left unterminated without RJ45 ends, preventing internet access until we paid technician to add connectors. The structured-media enclosure wiring box was incomplete; we paid to fix it. EH would not do either item. The underground conduit meant to protect the buried internet line to the utility pole was never installed. When asked, EH owner Ryan Fubini said, "I offered a guy cash to install conduit, but he wasn't interested." Predictably the unprotected cable was later cut by a landscaper, damage conduit would have prevented Builder Response Rather than fix issues Mr. Fubini responded by warning of "legal consequences" for posting reviews and sent an inaccurate, unprofessional message to my wife, which she pointedly refuted. Virginia's anti-S-L-APP laws protect truthful consumer reviews and allow recovery of costs if sued. I've been copied on emails from other EH buyers to Fubini reporting similar concerns, yet Fubini continues to claims I'm his only dissatisfied owner. EH cites many five-star ratings, but they are for small remodel jobs, not full new-home builds. Initially I gave testimonial to buyer who bought $2.5M EH home; Fubini never thanked me Summary Tradespeople who built our house appear to be skilled, by lack formal oversight, project management and quality control. EH leadership prioritized speed and cost-cutting over reasonable finishes, quality checks, problem-solving, and warranty. Every problem follows the same pattern: EH spent the minimum to pass inspection, deny responsibility afterward. EH's constant defense: "it passed Arlington County inspection" misses the point. Passing inspection only meets minimum legal standards at that moment. A luxury builder should exceed them, not hide behind them For anyone considering EH, hire rigorous inspector to check sq ft, structural, mechanical, insulation, finishes, and soil quality before closing. Let's break it down: Honesty - I called Rob at Roof Fanatics after getting the high-pressure sales pitch from two different companies in a row. I was dreading getting another quote. Rob's entire ethos is the anti-high-pressure pitch. He told me what I needed to know, gave me options, and then let me decide. His prices were very fair and super competitive for the level of attention we received. We also needed to delay work while we addressed a non-related structural issue. Rob was patient, and never pressed us to move faster than we were comfortable with. Attention to detail - After coming by to look at the roof, we asked him to come back to look at the siding as well a few weeks later. Rob remembered my dog's name - this might be a minor thing, but it spoke to the fact that he was paying attention, and treating us like a valued customer (before we had paid him a cent!), not just another stop on his route. He personally inspected the work after each crew had finished - siding, roof, gutters. He noticed things down to the last screw, and took care that everything was done to the highest standard. Quality - Our house looks @#%! awesome. We started with an old roof that, cracking vinyl siding, and gutters that were not getting the job done. I'm very pleased with the final result - Rob even custom-sourced gutter diverters to help us install rain barrels. The final result is better than I could have hoped. Service - Along the way Rob spent a ton of time communicating with me - answering questions, discussing options, and helping me understand every detail of what was happening to my family's home. I know he has other customers, but the level of attention I received for our project made me feel like the whole company was focused on my job. Rob will truly stop at nothing to make sure you are satisfied with the result. For a job as important as dealing with the roof or siding of my house, there's no one I would trust more than Rob to do an excellent job. I feel confident that our work will last until Rob is long retired, but in the meantime I urge anyone else that needs this kind of work to give him a call. UPDATE: I also referred Rob to my church, where we asked him to do some siding work and to look at the roofs of two church buildings where we had experienced leaks. Rob found damage to one roof caused by a tree, and with the other roof found that the shingles used were of an old, discontinued type that couldn't be easily patched. That eye for detail - the discontinued shingles - convinced our insurance company to cover the entire roof. Rob also worked with the insurance company to get the other roof covered as well. I don't believe we would have been successful without Rob's extensive knowledge of his craft and sharp eyes - his work has saved our church from a large planned expense, allowing us to use that money in the community.

My experience was extremely disappointing and filled with red flags from start to finish. After payment was made, communication from Mr. Coleman became inconsistent and unreliable. Calls and messages were not returned in a timely manner--if at all. He frequently went silent for long periods, leaving me without updates on the status of my own project. It also became clear that Mr. Coleman is primarily a salesman and does not perform the work himself. Instead, he hires third-party contractors to complete the job. At that point, you would be better off hiring the contractors directly and avoiding a middleman who does not follow through on his commitments. I initially chose to trust him based on positive reviews and wanting to support a Black-owned business. However, professionalism, communication, and reliability matter in any business--and unfortunately, this company did not demonstrate those qualities. If you move forward after reading this review, understand that you have been warned. The lack of responsiveness, accountability, and follow-through speaks for itself.

I purchased the upgraded roof and upgrade to beautiful Hardie siding. Fast forward and I'm leaving a 1 star review. Why? Because they only warranty their work product for 2 years a little but important fact that must have been in the contract and I missed. It certainly wasn't spoken. I recall reviewing the Hardie as well as the CertainTeed Roof warranties but nothing about a 2 year warranty from Colonial. Given that information would I have chosen a different company? Of course! I have 2 major problems, a leak inside of my sunroom as well as a problem with the siding which has destroyed a window and French door. A technician came out for the door and explained the when the siding was installed on the deck, they failed to do the flashing. And well, you can see in results in the pictures. When contractors come to provide estimates without missing a beat, each says I shouldn't be having these problems after 4 years and that Colonial should repair. I explain the 2 year clause and they laugh. So, here we are, either file a claim with the roof and siding manufacturers, pay out of pocket OR file a claim with my insurance company. Each option sucks because I went with a company which doesn't provide an actual warranty for their work product. Don't be me, be better.

I had received no prior recommendations for this type of roof. I was suspicious of it. However, after two hard rains, I am convinced that this roof does not leak. The installers also tore my chimney down to the roof line and rebuilt it with used bricks which matched the ones already used in the chimney. They replaced my concrete chimney cap. Kevin came out and did the inspection. Then sat with me on the phone call with the Insurance company to place claim for wind damage. Kevin came back when the insurance inspector came out, and instead of just a repair Kevin was able to get whole roof replacement approved. They were very professsional with the actual job and got it all finished in the time they said they would. I am set with a peace of mind about my roof for many years to come.
