It was Wednesday afternoon at 2pm on August 28th and Tropical Storm Dorian got upgraded to a Category 1 Hurricane. I immediately called Ridge Propane. Even though the employee that answered the phone sounded extremely overwhelmed with many phone calls, I felt like I was the only customer she had all day. She was sweet as pie and very reassuring. She told me that due to approaching storm that numerous other clients had ordered propane replenishment before me but that they would deliver after the hurricane passed. I said ok and booked my refueling. I should not have let my tank run to 30%. Lesson learned. My new goal is to keep it always at 80%. Yesterday morning, on Saturday, my dogs' incessant barking woke me up early. It was a Ridge Propane delivery driver to refill my underground propane tank. I was surprised since I was informed about my delivery after the hurricane passed & when things got back to normal. I greeted the gentleman with a wide smile & some bewilderment. He was super friendly. He mentioned that the company brought in out of state personnel, like him, to help aide in fulfilling all their fuel deliveries. Now that is customer service. Other propane outfits I had reached out to also promised delivery after the storm some 7 days out from my initial call. Ridge Propane really cares about the community they serve. Ridge Propane Avon Park the price of gas is there attraction but there service is the worst. Can never talk to a live body, seldom return calls, I called for gas two weeks ago still no delivery or call why so slow. Had to pay $30 for a tank pressure test because the tank emptied through no fault of my own. read more

This company is a joke! I called on October 24th and arranged for a delivery to our winter home in Florida so we would have propane when we arrived. I made all the arrangements with the office manager, Elaine via phone. We arrived and no propane. I called several times and left several messages but no call back. I went to the office and spoke to the same office manager who said they would deliver tomorrow but that she would call first. She apologized saying the truck broke down and they were behind. NO CALL OR DELIVERY the next day. Why would you say you will provide a service and not deliver??? I attempted to call again many times to no avail, nine calls to be exact based on phone history. I went to the office again. Spoke to a delivery man who was in the office at my arrival. I explained my frustration of no propane and that I had ordered in advance. The gentleman said "we dont do deliveries unless you are at resident". I looked right at the manager and told the gentlemen that I made arrangements with her and pointed at the office manager. No one said nothing. After doing my own research and talking to staff this I know. They haven't been able to deliver propane because the only 2 trucks the business have are broke down. The office manager mutes the phone so she does not have to deal with dissatisfied customers. When she is forced to deal with a customer she tells them what they want to hear instead of telling them they can't deliver propane, empty promises because she doesn't want a confrontation. I know the owner of this company has several propane businesses in Kentucky and Tennessee(I was told 82 plants) and only this one in Florida. He provides no support to the employees here in Avon Pk. It is probably a tax write off for his seasonal home in Florida. He does not respond to emails regarding the issues at the Avon Park business. He must not care if they can't deliver propane to many of the eldery customers here since they have not had a delivery truck in working order for a good 2 weeks maybe much longer, I am not sure. The owner name is Eric Small or Smalls. Head quarters phone # is 800-874-4427. I highly recommend anyone who has had issues with this company to call head quarters and contact the BBB. They are not BBB accredited (big surprise)but it is still a good idea to make a complaint. I was told that the BBB will follow up with them. This owner should be ashamed of himself on how he does business especially being this is a high retirement area. Lets make him accountable!! He continues to get away with this because he charges much less than his competitors in our area. One last thing thing don't tell you, you can buy your own propane tank and the propane is .30 cheaper per gallon and you then can purchase your gas from any provider. It costs more upfront but you also do not have the rental fee for their tank. read more

If I could give them a negative 5 that's what they deserve. I opened an account with them to fill the tank on our RV on December 26. She told me it would take 4 or 5 days to get it set up. She said they couldn't get to me until Jan. 3rd, since we were out of town until the 1st of January that was fine. No one came on the 3rd so late on the 4th I called back and was told, "HONEY, I TOLD you we take care of our regular customers first and we'll get to you whenever we can." Over the course of the next two weeks I called again twice because we were running very low on propane. Her response was the same each time. Today Jan. 28, their truck is in our campground. So I called to see if we were getting fuel today. Nope, he is only filling he cabin tanks. She told me to track him down and ask him and he might do it. He was parked right in front of our RV so my husband ask him. He told us he "couldn't " fill RV tanks. WOW!!! They are all a piece of work. read more

I have used Ridge Propane for the past 7 years for my stove top cooking. The service personnel are friendly and honest and the price for a tank is the best around. A tank lasts about 6 months. read more

Use their service since 2004, excellent service from installation right through current. Always pleasant, quick. Always on schedule. I think gas is the way to go and this is the company to use. read more
