The first time my husband went there, the eye doctor missed my husband's torn Retina. I gave them another chance-the eye center didnt send over my father's blood orders. I had the cataract surgery and the Intraocular lens installed. You must pay in advance in order to have procedure done. I paid $9,000 You're Medicare and supplemental insurance will not pay for the lens. the thing is Ridge eye Institute does not tell you the Lense is over $6,000. There was absolutely no discussion of price except what was on their customized optional flyer sheet saying $9,000- includes both eyes. You will not receive any money back. I'm a ridge resident of more than 40 years, RIDGE EYE INSTITUTE is the new name, I recently cancelled my appointments, including two for cataract surgery; do yourself a favor, go else-ware for care! THE EYE INSTITUTE of Chico and Paradise are basically the same organization. My opinion is the staff are poorly trained, make appointments they won't keep, and I would not want to see a doctor(s) whom don't seem to care about their customer/patent.There frames are grossly over price, and they don't seem to care what you think! They bought out the former owner, and are now in the process of ruining this business. The poorly trained staff seem nice, but are sorely lacking in so many areas. The saving grace for my visit was Dr. Montgomery who was kind--other than that I wasn't impressed. The office staff called me the day of my appointment and asked if I could come earlier. I did my best to accommodate them, however, it felt like they just wanted me in there so that they could rush me out and be done with their day. The assistant who did my tests (he never introduced himself, so I can't use his name) was just short of rude and complained the whole time about his computer being slow and mentioned he was ready for the day to be over, again making me feel like they were in a hurry to get me in and out. He never once smiled. I did enjoy the slideshow of photos on the TV while I waited for my eyes to dilate. Upon checkout, the doctor couldn't find anyone to help me as they were all in a side room on their phones and/or chatting. I never saw any of the staff (except Dr. Montgomery) smile while I was there. Due to feeling more of a burden than anything, I didn't visit the optical shop. I got my prescription and left. Needless to say, I won't be going back when they call me in a year. read more

Another greedy business that tries to up sell. I've worn contact lenses for years and switching from hard to soft lenses. They wanted to charge me $225.00 out of pocket to show me how to apply them. I questioned them saying I'm pretty sure I can figure this out on my own. They said it was mandatory. Shouldn't this be part of the service? They have the worst billing practices of any doctor I have have ever been to. Every time my wife and I go, we receive a bill in the mail that shouldn't have been sent, and every time I have to call and explain that my insurance covers the procedures for which they are billing. Every time they say, after being on the phone for half an hour, I am correct and they end up sending me a zero balance bill. I think we will find a different optometrist. read more

Run don't walk. I have had a very negative experience with this group and specifically the doctors, and it is just too much to write here. Please find someone else if you are pursuing cataract surgery. Basically, all the issues fall under the category of poor communications. Pros: Amanda at the Peachtree Vision location Cons: -Receptionist at Peachtree (rude) -HORRIBLE selection of frames at Peachtree -Terrible communication -Improper Rx diagnosis -Debbie at Skyway location had no knowledge of contacts even though she was their contact "expert". She was also snooty. -It's been 9 days & I haven't received a call about my contacts being ready. I started at Peachtree, was checked by Amanda, then got a half-as$ed exam where I was told my eyes are getting better?? (I'm 52 - not likely) I asked about bifocals, but was sent to the Ridge Eye Care office to get sample contacts??? I was told Theresa was their contact lens person. When I got there I waited for awhile & was told Theresa didn't handle contacts anymore & I had to wait for Debbie. She didn't have a clue about the two types of lenses that were recommended for me. I left confused. I haven't paid for anything yet so I'll just go to a different eye doctor & start over. read more

Ridge Eye Institute is the place to have your eyes checked. I have seen Dr. Rudick and Dr. Montgomery and they are absolutely awesome. They are very patient, answer all your questions until you completely understand what procedure they are doing. They have a very calming personalities that make you relax during the examination, which makes the appointment go smoothly. If you need to have your eyes checked, call Ridge Eye Institute. The 2 stars is for Craig Montgomery at the Paradise location. Nice enough guy but had to visit twice in order to get a usable prescription. After first visit he walked me out and slapped me on the back and said alright buddy you're all set Well I wasn't all set because I had to return because the glasses were unusable. On the first visit I had asked him for a computer glasses presciption ( I showed him my previous prescription that he mostly ignored) but got a strong reading prescription instead. On the second visit I again showed him my old prescription. I was very surprised when he asked me. "Is alternate spectacle a brand name?' I said what? Are you joking? Alternate spectacle is the computer glasses prescription I got from my previous qualified optometrist. Right then and there I was convinced he was too set in his ways to know how to help me. I just told him to please check my distance prescription. Got the distance glasses that work fine. Don't ask this doctor to do anything outside his day to day routine. read more

Great experience! Had a late appointment for a exam and got through it super quick and the staff was super nice and professional. Only 3 downfalls, no lab to make the glasses on the spot, didn't carry ray ban brand & took way too long to get them shipped. But, I absolutely love my glassees!!! The lady that helped me through the process of ins and picking the frames was super sweet and helpful. The lady that did my testing and got me into a room was super funny and nice and normal. Which is why I came here -- however they must not think their patients have anything BETTER to do other than hang around, their appointment booking process is terrible!!! I'm a new patient at Ridge Eye Care. I have worked for Optometrists myself so I am a bit picky when it comes to choosing San eye Dr. I was very impressed by the office staff and Dr Mennuci. They were knowledgeable and very friendly. They offer appropriate testing and had a good selection of frames to choose from. As a thoughtful touch, they have a room with dimmed lighting and a fully stocked coffee/tea bar to sit in if you've had your eyes dilated. They did not pressure me to add features that I did not want to my new glasses order. They simply provided information and let me choose what I needed. My senior Mother falls alot & broke her glasses pretty bad. She is already blind in 1 eye & her vision is very bad in the other eye. She was without glasses for over a week then I came into town & took them here to be fixed. A real nice lady tried her hardest to make them like new but there was a super glue spot on them that could not be removed. I spent years bouncing from eye doctor to eye doctor, but earlier this year I saw two new doctors on a billboard outside of town so I figured I would give them a shot. Since having the pleasure of seeing both Dr. Montgomery and Dr. Menucci, I think its safe to say I have found a home at Ridge Eye Care. I am not in the Chico area as often as I used to be, but I think I will be making a point to make it up to visit more frequently now that I have found two doctors that I am completely comfortable with. read more

Ann-Chi Chen was patient, thorough and understanding when she checked my eyesight. When I went to order my glasses, it appears that a rouge staff member had gone into their computer system and changed my eye glass prescription because when the glasses arrived yesterday, I could not even read the big words on the sample page. They assured me they would fix the matter. I went in at 1:10 pm on 10/26/16 and an Irish man blew an intense puff of air in both my eyes, that still causes me pain almost 24 hours later. Had me try on the new glasses and read letters far away. Told me that my vision with glasses on was 30-25 "almost perfect" and tried to insist the glasses were fine. When I explained those glasses were for reading, he could not figure out the problem, trying to blame the matter on me. After a few minutes I pulled out a subscription which was two years old from a different doctor stating my eyes were much worse two years ago than what his computer now stated. He entered that two year old subscription in his computer then insisted I should use the same numbers for my new glasses and I said "no, that subscription is expired." So he called in a young man with short dark hair who pretended to analyze my eye sight in my right eye, turning one nob twice maybe three times, and assured me that I would like my new subscription. I left, very unsatisfied and am confident it was because of someone or a few people on the staff, not due to the doctors at all. But what do you do? read more

The medical staff are adequate, but the support staff is incompetent and beyond rude. Several times I tried to explain that my vision plan does not give me a card. Support staff asked for my medical insurance card and stated that they would search it that way. I had previously presented this info, but the office staff said they did not keep it, but amazing had my phone number and address on file. They billed the wrong insurance and overcharged me $35.00 dollars on the copay. After I pointed this out the support staff as rudely as possible told me too bad, you signed a paper saying you agreed to pay. The support staff began to yell at me from across the lobby to "calm down mam". I asked her several times to remove herself from the situation and she continued to humiliate me using a raised voice and announcing my insurance information to all the other patients in the lobby. The office manager told me her support staff never do it wrong and it was my fault. They refused to withdraw the claim from my medical and bill my vision plan. I am out several hundreds of dollars due to their incompetence. DONT EVER GO TO THIS DCTOR!!!! His support staff is incompetent and it will cost you hundreds of dollars you don't have to pay. read more
