Unfortunately I had a bad experience, took the bike in for service in june and requested an oil and filter chance, general inspection and chain lube. Got charged $287.53 and noticed that I was having a hard time with gear changes, had to press hard and was louder than before.but didn't think much of it as I thought I was oversensitive.Yesterday(5 Aug 2025) a fellow rider noticed that the chain was loose so I decided to take it to my guy (Bartz on wolfedale) to see if he could tighten the chain,change the brake fluid as it was over 2 years, check the brakes and clutch settings. He calls me back and said the oil was dirty, I told him both the oil and filter were changed in june, he said it can't be, when I went to pick up the bike he showed me the oil and it was dirty. I called Riders choice and gently explained the issue and the gentelman on the phone told me to bring the bike in and the owner would have a look at it. I told him that I already had the oil changed, brake fluid replaced, brakes and clutch checked and reset, bike rides like a dream. Very Disappointing experience. I was sold an incorrectly sized helmet after the salesperson assured me it was the right fit. When I tried to return it, I was denied a refund. I reached out via email and was promised a 20% discount, which they never honored. Poor customer service and untrustworthy business practices. Would not recommend. read more

Absolute crooks, take your bike and money some place else. went there for safety and I was told there are some issue. I had already gone to a mechanic prior to going there just because of MTO changes in safety inspection not many mechanics have the safety certificate books anymore as everything is going digital.Anyways I knew I have no other choice so I played dumb and let them fix the so called issue. so they changed this so called part which obviously they had lying around for a 23 yr old bike ..what a coincidence. firstly let me begin by asking anyone reading this to read a few of my other ratings of other businesses in particular the Kind of ones that deserve a five star rating and how I greatful Iam of such people and businesses. whoaaaa I just bought a bike again and it took me back to a time 15 years ago when I purchased my first bike new I let a friend ride it against better judgement and he dropped it and bent the frame. It was a write off, but he asked me to take it here instead I obliged being a really good friend, but little did I know that the owner of this establishment would force me essentially to pay to have my bike reassembled after I only asked him for a quote he was supposed to only have my bike overnight. Anyways he bent unbent the frame and then called me saying that if I wanted my bike back , I could pick it up in parts or pay him 1200 some dollars and have it reassembled. I was furious but not knowing my options and feeling like I was being bullied I just wanted my 2 week old bike back... anyways It was never the same feeling - he used cheaper replica parts- and it had scratches left on many of the components. read more

Stay Away!!! This is the worst motorbike shop I have ever been to. I called them for a quote to mount new tires on my motorbike, made an appointment. When I went there they made me wait, acted unprofessionally and changed the quote to a higher price. I told them to honor their quote but they are in the business of ripping off their customers. I escalated to the manager and he did not care either. They wasted my time and gas. Never going back there. Don't stay away, run away from them!!! read more

where do I start? my bike was brought to them for an estimate on repair and they dragged their feet for so long so they could charge the insurance 5000$ for storage. the insurance tried to rush the bike out of there to avoid the sky high storage fees - for an estimate, that the truck moved the bike in a snowstorm on a flat bed that scratched up the rims and the tank. the owner said to me- it's the insurances bike. No it wasn't. I'm riding it today with that damage that was never fixed. these people don't care about your bike. read more

I gave them a 1 star but they don't even deserve it. I would not order anything from riderschoice.ca. I ordered a new visor off their website for 169.99 and the sale was taxes included. Perfect, well not so much. I received an email shortly after saying my visor would not be in until spring and how would I like to proceed. Well I don't like my credit card charged for something and it not sent to me for one. So I cancelled my order through an email, not on their site. I then later check my credit card and it has now been charged with .01. Money is not the issue but if I paid 169.99 I expect 169.99 returned. I reach out to them to find out what is exactly going on. He says my order is cancelled and I have been returned my money. Then he basically rushes me off the phone. Then I receive an email that asks if I have changed my password, I have not and I respond with such. Lesson learned I have dealt with fortnine.com and gpbikes.com (larger companies I think and oldsoulmoto.com (small company) and not had this problem. Steer clear of riderschoice.ca, I won't try them again. UPDATE: I tried to go on the site to see what is going on and I get this see pic. Stay away from their mechanic!! He endangered my life after replacing the tires and they also claimed my bike needed "a lot of work" after they failed to instal the rear brake system. A second mechanic spotted the problem. When I called and emailed Riders choice the owner called me back apologizing and told me he would generously compensate me. When I went to the shop his son gave me $20 dollars as compensation. Irresponsibly and greedy. Only their retail shop is ok. read more

Horrible horrible experience at this repair shop. If Google allows for 0/5 review, that would be my rating to this place. Brought my motorcycle in for them to figure out why my dash, tail light, and signals are not working. I dropped my bike to the right side and ripped out the front right signal light which caused a short-circuit resulting in damaged fuse. The guys there charged me $120 for a "Damage Inspection". After paying $120 for this service, I was told that my handle bar needed replacement (not true), brake lever needed replacement (not true) and worst of all, they asked for an additional $110 to perform a "wiring diagnostic" to "try and figure out" why my dash was out. Basically, they were suggesting that I pay $230 first, then they will tell me how much more they will charge me to get my bike done. I estimated a total of $1,000 before they would return the bike to me. In the end, I told them how unhappy I was after paying $120 for them to tell me the things I do not need replacements for, and damages I already knew before I went in, and still didn't know why my dash was out. I paid $120 for nothing. I brought the bike home, went on YouTube and found out that I could simply replace the fuse underneath my seat and everything started working again. My bike had a spare fuse inside too. So I solved the problem with $0 and a 5 min YouTube video. Riders Choice was going to charge me $110 extra just to find out the issue, and then probably charge me another hour of labour to replace the fuse that my bike has a spare for. As for the handle bar, I used the tool that came with the bike, and readjusted the handle bar to make it back in place. No replacement needed. The brake lever, nothing needed to be done with it. I am riding the bike now no problem. This place is dishonest, want to take advantage of riders who are naiive. Do not go to this place to ask for a damage inspection EVER. For myself, I will never return to these guys not even to purchase merchandise because of how dishonest they were. Very Very bad experience. I felt ripped off. I felt taken advantage of. I feel this place brought down the general reputation of motorcycle garages in general. Now I have developed distrust for these repair shops... read more

I met the owner at the bike show and he couldnt care less about helping me choose a pair of boots... he came across as a guy that must have had the business given to him and doesnt know the first thing about creating clientele. In fact, I'll go so far as label this guy a knob. They carry great product but i prefer giving my money to people that deserve it. read more

I find most people in the motorcycle community take themselves way to seriously and their opinions on everything tend to swing to extremes. Love or hate a particular manufacture, model, product or dealer. Nothing in between... This is only my personal experience at Riders Choice, if it doesn't mirror yours that's fine. I am not a paid shill just someone who has ridden for 30 + years and been in lots of shops in my lifetime. Firstly I am admittedly a fan of a bricks and mortar shop. When I need a nut I like to walk in and talk to someone who knows more than me. Online retailers are usually cheaper but i still like to get that innocuous part when I need it today. I have used RC to store my bikes for years. They go away in the fall leaving my garage free for my snowblower. They come back in the Spring serviced and ready to ride. I'm not a mechanic nor do I want to be. I'm happy to pay for that service. I also have bikes over 25 years old- they require service more than most. RC has always happily worked on these bikes when other shops have declined and wondered aloud why I want to fix an bike made in 1984. Today I had a fuel leak that required some McGyverin'. They took it directly to the bench and came up with a fix in 30 minutes. They then sent me on my way with a ridiculously low charge. Now I admit I am a long term customer that spends significant $ on storage, service and gear so that obviously played a part in the speed and cost. That however is my point to a real shop with actual people and not a 1-800 number. Patronize your local shop and you may have the same experience. Oh and don't show up unannounced expecting a $29.95 oil change done in 15 minutes on your Gixxer. It ain't Jiffy Lube. Long winded way of saying I endorse them and will continue to for as long as I'm still able to ride. Ride safe. read more

The mechanic spent several hours trying to repair my motorcycle...but could not do it...they couldn't even tell me what the problem was... (it ended up being a simple fast fix by a mechanic with experience). Of course, they had no problem charging me ($95 per hr + tax) for doing nothing and reinstalling the fuel tank incorrectly... They have the worst return policy out of all the companies I have dealt with and the slowest response time. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM. Take your business elsewhere. They ended up not fitting so I asked how long the exchange would take and they told me 1-2 weeks (I waited a total of 7 weeks the last time I was given the so called 1-2 week wait time). I've had maintenance performed on 2 Kawasaki sport bikes over the course of several years. The work has ranged from routine tire and drive chain replacement to more substantial suspension repairs. In each instance I have been consistently pleased with the outcome in terms of the initial estimate relative to the final cost of repairs --always coming in under what was initially quoted. The owner is arrogant. I've been here twice and both times I left with a bad experience. First time was a few years ago for a bike repair. They couldn't repair the bike. Fair enough. But they sent me away like I was wasting their time instead of helping offer options and a solution. Today I brought a Dainese D-Air Suit which wasn't bought from them. They declined to repair it and gave me the "sorry buddy can't help ya" attitude. I was willing to pay for their service and they offered absolutely no help. I would have been happy with an explanation or a little help to direct me to the right place. "Too busy with our own suits, can't help ya" with a smirk on his face. I'm a businessman in customer service so I can offer honest feedback here. The problem with this attitude is that they lose a customer forever. A customer over the long term is much more profitable than a single sale. My plan today was to leave the suit and purchase a $1200 helmet before I left. They lost that sale as well and anything in the future from me. read more

RIPPED OFF. Went in for valve adjustment. (Costly repair) was told valves were checked no need to change anything. (Lost $500 or so). No paperwork, no measurements. (Was the work even done?). Was told i need a new radiator and install is free because rad is already off for valve adjustment. (took 3 weeks). Got the bill and was charged for the install? I had paid and noticed after i was charged $100 extra for install ($650 radiator +install!?). Talked to manager or owner was treated like garbage. Finally went back and got install money back. Total bill ($1300). Did plugs, air filter clean(i dont even know if they cleaned it), oil change, valve adj. i have given them so much money over the past year for gear, oil changes, service. I will never go back because of how they treated me. I didnt even get proper warranty information on the new rad! Scammers. read more

I started riding for the first time in 2014, bought my bike at a dealer and brought it into riders choice for upgrades. They helped me with motorcycle gear and answered all my questions, they helped me put accessories on my second bike, a ctx700 and also did work on my CBR650 bike, never without any problems. I always found them helpful, enjoyable to talk to and I enjoyed going to the store just to look. They stored my bike for me in the winter, they even came by to pick it up. Service has always been amazing, the 1 star review person must have this business mixed up with another. I am going back to Riders Choice this year to look at more gear and if I need work done on my new bike, this is where I am going, I won't trust anyone else. read more

I don't normally write reviews, but I really felt like I had to. I was having electrical problems with my bike and decided to take it in. I was able to get an appointment very quickly. I picked up the bike just before the weekend. A couple days afterwards, I noticed the same problem pop up and called John, the owner. He immediately told me to bring it back in and that the work would be free of charge. It was fixed the same day, with no hassles, headaches or problems. Definitely a classy place. Went here to inquire about an add placed online for parts. Called first spoke with Desmin who was helpful and willing to work with me. i explained that some person the night prior had somehow tipped over my new pearl white R6 and cracked the plastic part to the right of my seat. The damage was fairly minimal but for any bike owner to find your bike on its side with damage and no one around to take responsibility, you might as well have came to my house and shot my dog. I went to the shop to inquire about the OEM part for sale and the one I had inquired about ordering from the dealer over the phone earlier. The owner of the shop ( i won't mention names ) essitially told me he was not willing to sell the part he had listed because it would separate the set of bike fairings. ( the seat and front tire fairings already were not included In the set so it was not a full set regardless). Basically I told him I would pay to order the part from Yamaha if he could sell the one he had on hand so I could be on my way to fixing my bike seat. I also mentioned I would pay a premium for him helping me. Here's the strangest part.... He then proceeds to tell me that it's not worth his time , that he will no longer order the part for me either because I won't get it installed at the shop and then tells me to visit ready Honda down the road and order the part from there. To give you a bit of background on myself I'm a business executive who has started and cofounded a few successfull companies and worked for a few Fortune 500 (200) companies in senior positions. I don't usually get on the Internet to complain about experiences but this was just bad business. Business fundamentals. Never turn away a customer. Always find a solution to someone's problem. It pays dividends trust me. Always help the people that are willing to help you and pay a premium for your time because they know what it's worth. Last but not least and definitely not the only point I want to make to you Riders Choice, treat your customers like gold weather they are spending a dollar or a thousand dollars, never turn away any reasonable business. And finally , never smugly smile as you tell a customer to go down the street to another shop and thanks for stopping by. I have been to Riders choice about 10 times. My friend who rides a new 2013 gsxr and I who ride an older 1999 gsxr have had completely different experience from this shop. 100% they will treat him better than me. First example; I needed to replace the clutch pedal on my older bike. The young gentleman with the gelled fohawk told me to "go down the road, the Honda dealership can order that part for you". I reiterated that it was a Suzuki gsxr and he said they would be able to order the part. Guess what, I looked like a dumbass asking Honda to order me a Suzuki part. 2nd experience; riding around had caused a screw on my rear brake to come lose. Riders choice was close so I pulled in hoping they might have a spare one. The owner wanted me to book the bike into the shop ... FOR A MISSING SCREW. I asked how much it would be and the owner said he couldn't tell me. I than said "all I need is the screw, I can do it my self. If you dont have the screw ill have to go somewhere else". They didnt check but the owner knew off the top of his head that they didnt have it. I feel that if I had a better bike or a track bike they would have done more for me. I came to this conclusion from the good experiences i've had going in with my friend and his brand new bike and that's not right! It shouldnt matter what bike you have everyone deserves the same treatment. To be honest I will go back for chain lube and oil ect... but as far as service for my current and future bikes as well as my friend, we will happy take it else where. Not because they dont have great techs (because they do) but because they come off as money hungry and dont follow the golden rule, - treat others the way you want to be treated.
