As a result, I have had a hard time finding an exercise program that I feel safe doing and that would be impactful enough to show some results. I had a gym membership and even though I could workout at my own pace, I had a difficult time keeping myself motivated and coming up with new routines. Then I tried attending various "low-impact" group classes that turned out to be too strenuous. I had lost any hope of getting back into shape and began to gain more weight from eating poor quality food and living a sedentary lifestyle. Then I found Peter Hirsh and he changed my life. My boyfriend and I have been training with Peter for about 3 1/2 months now and this is the best I have felt in a really long time. He introduced me to kettlebell training which has done wonders for my strength. He also introduced me to Whole 30 and Paleo. Between the kettlebell training and changing my eating habits, I have lost about 12 pounds to date and my chronic digestive issues that I use to struggle with are almost non-existent.     I wish I could give Sid more stars because 5 is just "great" but his training is excellent. After…read morejust a few weeks, I started recommending this place to everyone I knew because my back pain disappeared! It's not even the reason I started going here (reason was to get in shape and healthier), but it was a very happy side effect of Sid's gentle restorative approach to fitness. For years, I would toss and turn at night from back pain that gradually increased with each hour, sometimes getting me out of bed at 3 or 4am. If I didn't get out of bed when it got bad, then by morning I'd feel practically disabled, struggling to get out of bed with intense pain that felt like my back was going to break just sitting up. But after just a few weeks with Sid, I realized that I'd been sleeping well and popping right out of bed with no pain!!! It was so amazing, and I do credit that to Sid's restorative training approach. Sid's does personal one-on-one training in his own private gym, so there was never anyone else there using the gym at the same time, which was nice because the focus was 100% on helping ensure I was in the correct positions -- not squatting with my knees wrong, or pulling a stretch band with my elbows or shoulders in a damaging position, feet in correct position, etc. If anything was in a position that could cause injury working out that way, he would quickly let me know how to correct it -- and that was HUGE for me, because I know for a fact (from many workout injuries) that I am the type of person who works out incorrectly. Sid helped prevent that, letting me know if I was doing something correctly, or need to fix my position. But there is so much more! I wasn't expecting this, but he also talked to me each time about things like diet, and what I'm doing on my own time to ensure success, and why or why not certain things I'd been trying were (or weren't) effective at this time, at my current fitness level. He really helped me start thinking differently about what I was eating, how it was affecting my body's ability to function properly, how much and even when to eat, how even little tweaks in a restaurant order can save me the amount of calories equal to a one-hour workout. His information helped me decide to stop drinking one particular type of drink I'd often buy, and switch it for a much better one. I could send him questions any time, he is very responsive. He actually seems to genuinely care about you being successful, and is there to help. Sid was, in my experience, the absolute best kind of personal trainer I could ever hope for. I didn't even know they could be this good. Now, I personally tried Sid's personal training gym as a treat for myself for Christmas, as I can't normally afford such a thing. But I really need fitness help, and I liked his website -- it's focus on restorative exercise sounded exactly like what I needed, and I wanted to try it. So I did, and I can't wait until I can go back again! I do absolutely recommend Sid at Back to Fitness to anyone who can afford it because it was truly life-changing for me, and I learned so much even in the short time I was there, and my back still feels better (thank you so much, Sid!). I really can't wait to go back here again.

Sarah immediately put me at ease and gave me kudos for showing up, and assured me I could be as grumpy as I wanted. Fast-forward about 6 months, I've been seeing Sarah 2-3 times a week. She zooms with me when I travel, gently corrects so I don't hurt myself, shows me how to stretch and helps when I tweak something...she even accommodated me when I sprained my wrist (at home, totally unrelated to working out with her, ha), and found ways for me to still get in a useful workout without putting any pressure on my wrist. In short: I still hate working out, but Sarah makes it so much more tolerable than I ever imagined. Her conversation, flexibility when life is...life, and the fact that she lets me complain openly have just been bonuses. I highly recommend working with Sarah!

She's really helped me work toward my goals of losing weight and generally getting stronger. Sarah is super knowledgeable about nutrition and helped me set goals for tracking what I eat. She's also helped me adjust my target calories number so that I can make sustainable progress. Since I've started working with Sarah, I've lost 13 pounds, my lower back pain is gone, and my muscles are the most defined they've ever been. 10/10, would recommend!
