Regarding the Gym, and it's owner Guy: I came across Insight Fitness through Google. I was pondering joining a gym, and wanted one nearby where I live. I came across Insight, and a welcome offer for a few training sessions, over a month. Price was reasonable, so I set up an intake with Guy. Some background on me: I lifted weights many years ago, in high school. However, I wasn't a particularly attentive student of the gym - and after 20+ years of not lifting weights, I was intimidated. I'm also significantly overweight. And I did (yep, past tense) carry some fear and shame about being seen working out in a gym. I spoke with Guy on the phone at first, he listened to my goals, and explained more about what Insight had to offer. My intake was the first time I was even in the gym and we went through a series of activities to try and assess where I was at. Following this, he suggested I begin working with Beverly (more on her below). I now come to the gym a couple of times a week. This is a small gym, which I like. The people who come here are friendly - and they're also there to work. There are all different ages of people here too, all working toward their own goals. (Honestly, watching so many different types of people working out is very inspiring to me.) Regarding the Personal Trainer I'm working with, Beverly Gervasi: I have been working with Beverly for 4.5 months. Beverly is very friendly. Lots of smiles. She's introduced me to her other clients, and people she works with. That has meant a lot to me - toward helping me feel generally welcome in the gym. I absolutely love that she can explain to me what we're doing (I love learning). And I believe that she understands what she's doing, and how to adapt that to me. I believe this because everything we do is about making improvements toward MY ultimate goals. I 100% believe that Beverly walks her own talk; and that she genuinely cares about helping people live healthier lives. Not in a judgmental way, in an encouraging way. She's told me stories, and shared research and information based on what she knows about me. I feel seen, and supported. I am nowhere near reaching my 'final goals'. But I'm enjoying the process of getting there - even on (sometimes especially on) the hard days. Working with Beverly has helped me see myself as more capable in gym. I'm always leaving my sessions impressed with what I did. She knows how to help you discover what your own body can do too. In closing, I recommend this gym, and I recommend Beverly. I'm not sure I could have ever believed I'd enjoy going to the gym, but at this time, at this gym and with Guy's team (and especially Beverly) I really do. read more

I was quite impressed with the cleanliness of the facility & diversity of option available to do what you need to get your workout in. Don't let the emptiness of this fitness center fool you. The vision of this gym is to have its clients to have semi-private space to be able to work out in a small community. Unlike your conglomerate & corporate style type of gyms, you won't be burdened with waiting on machines and you will happen to run into other regulars around the time you plan to be in Guy's gym. With only a 2 month notice I was given the opportunity to ride in the Absa Cape Epic, an 8 day stage mountain bike race that covers 400 miles and 54,000 ft of climbing. It is dubbed the Tour de France of MTB and also the Worlds hardest MTB race. I was at my highest weight and lowest fitness of the year. I had broke my shoulder 4 months prior and was focused on rehabilitating it. My physical activity was none. I showed up at Guy's doorstop and said work a miracle. I needed upper body strength, flexibility and range of motion. He assessed my lack of these things and got to work on me. He tailored every work out to make me as successful as possible. For two months he did his best so I could do my best. As a cyclist himself he knew exactly what I needed. Within those two months I lost 17lbs and could conquer over 200 mile ride weeks. Did I finish the Cape Epic? Hell no! It's a pro race! I'm just a 41 yr old mom who likes to bike for beer! But despite the strict time cutoffs I survived halfway through day 6. For a total of 268 miles and 35k ft. I could of kept going. I was plenty strong thanks to Guy. I'm sure with one more month of training I would been just fast enough to make the time cutoff. If he could take a Middle Aged chubby mom from the couch to the Cape Epic and on 2 months of training get me through 80% of the race imagine what he can do for you! read more

The location is perfect for coming from Sebastopol, the 24/7 hours is always convenient, and the equipment fits all the essentials I need in a workout. Wanting to get back into shape for the summer, I decided to give this place a try as it is just a couple miles from my house, and I HATE the meat market sweaty packed classic gym (ie, my other gym membersip place). I am somebody who hates exercise but wants to get in shape so I can dance, so I gave Guy my laundry list of things to work around (my wimpiness, my hatred of exercise and my physical limitations) and he has done a GREAT JOB of helping me work hard without hating it at all!!! I've been a member at Insight Fitness for 4 years. I can't say enough about the owner, Guy Bondi, the trainers and facility. I was a trainer 25 years ago. I hired Guy for a month of training sessions. I was amazed at the up to date knowledge and information he shared with me. He created an individual program to deal with my personal strengths and weaknesses. I had pretty severe knee pain when I started with Guy and was a candidate for knee replacement, but Guy taught me how to strengthen and stretch my leg muscles without pain. Now I have very little knee pain and can put off surgery. His business truly reflects his commitment to helping his clients reach their fitness potential. We work with him together for 30 minute training sessions, but there are options to fit every situation - 24 hour access, personalized 1 on 1 training with excellent professionals, and even online workout and fitness tracking. We love it for a lot of reasons - the workouts are great - but we really keep at it because we feel so comfortable there. We are in our late 40's and early 50's, and this is the very first gym we've found that we've been able to really stick with and make a part of our lives. All the staff (and members) there are motivating, compassionate, enthusiastic and genuinely nice people! The equipment is top notch, and the facilities are immaculate. Though we could probably find a place that costs a little less, we absolutely couldn't find better training or better people. I tell everyone I know about it, but even better, I show them when I easily throw two big bags of dog food over my shoulder and still have a hand to get the door. What a wonderful group of people with big hearts! My Dads dog was missing for three days and we were besides or self. We were loosing hope and on Sunday we got a call from Guy Bondi saying I think we have your dog "foxy" He went above and beyond to find us by calling his girlfriend checking on facebook something some people would not do. She had not had her seizure medication for 2 days. She is now home safe and doing well. I can not say enough about how warm and inviting his place and staff are. They took really good care of her till we got there and when we walked in this place him and his staff were so friendly and happy for us.
