His wife, in completing her side of the transaction, tried to get a loan payoff statement from Freedom Mortgage. Freedom refused to provide the required document prior to closure. After several calls and messages to Freedom from the seller, the title company, and our realty firm, and still no answer, the title company estimated the remaining mortgage amount, and held back what they estimated the loan balance to be. They also arranged for closure and recording of the deed. Freedom only provided the necessary information after the property changed hands. In summary, Freedom mortgage failed to perform their part of the transaction over a several week period-even when appealed to by a seller who just lost her husband. We would not recommend Freedom for residential mortgage support.
