A first rate, intimate music/performance venue that's a tad larger than Brick & Mortar just down the road and with a mezzanine level that's located directly up from the lower level bar area. the sound system is more than sufficient to handle several performances in an evening and the stagelighting isn't too intrusive nor distracting. I've seen sublimely good indie bands like Say Sue Me (S Korea) and most recently, shoe-gazers Lucid Express take center stage here. a decent selection of craft beers and mixed drinks await at the bar. parking around the area isn't too bad if one knows this part of town but it's less than a 20-25 min walk from either 16th St or Civic Center Bart stations. Gough, Fell & its surrounding streets would be an ideal to park if one insists on driving but there's also quieter, lesser known one way parking possibilities a block away on Oak, just off of Van Ness Avenue.

Cute small venue with friendly staff and bartenders. I love that you actually get a good view of the artist, and there's a tiered balcony upstairs. Bathrooms were super clean. $10 card minimum. Affordable drinks for the area! About $9-12 for cocktails. Just docking a star because the sangria was pretty gross -- it tasted really vinegary and sour, as if the wine had spoiled.

Actually such a gorgeous venue. Located right beside City Hall. It's a small and intimate venue with a bar and a second floor. The staff were really patient and kind. I went to see Olivia Dean earlier this year and atleast when I went the venue and staff had an organized process going and everyone seemed to have a great time.

Small and fun environment. Saw Being Dead and The Husbands here. They were great. Easy to park nearby at night.

Went here for a comedy show, definitely enjoyed myself but was surprised with the $10 card minimum because my cider didn't hit it - got charged $3 for a soda water I didn't drink to hit the minimum. Ah well, pretty cool spot for a grungy opera house!

Ask the Community - Rickshaw Stop

I came in recently and saw Emo Night on the calendar, I asked the bartender if you could be 18+ to come in ( brother birthday ) and he said go check online, but I couldn't find the age. For Emo night, can you enter at 18+?

    online tickets say 21+

    Is there a coat check?

Sometimes! But less after covid hit. We have self-help racks most shows.

    What are box office hours?

Sorry, there is no box office except for the show happening that night.

I have a broken foot. Is reserved seating available for me to sit or if I bring a wheelchair, is there a location where I can park and still see the show?

We can set up a reserved spot for you.

Safest place to park in the area, walking distance? *at night

Find a garage, don't leave anything visible or don't let anyone see you put stuff in your trunk.

Can you be 16 years of age and get in?

Depends on show/event, contact the promoter or check the calendar.

What kind of music u guys play do u play bollywood music and bhangra?

    Check the calendar.

It is a more intimate venue, which could mean something negative, but it was extremely positive in this case.

The place is very narrow, and given…read morehow many tables there are, I wouldn't really call it a dance club -- like you literally can't dance except for a small square space in front of the DJ. It's much better as a place to gather friends and drink. The music is overall pretty well-selected. It's not too mainstream, but also not too obscure where you're just questioning what's going on. You'll definitely want to be on your feet and feeling the beat.

Happy Hour is much better because the bouncer in the picture below is not present. Story: So my friend tells me their coworker is celebrating a birthday party here. I think, "great!" I come here for Happy Hour on Fridays and it will be a great time once again. It's about to be 1:00am and we're patiently waiting in line to get in. Harlot tells us there's a cover to get in but since a friend is having a birthday here and they have a table, we shouldn't have to pay. The bouncer tells us if the owner of the table comes out to collect us we can come in. After waiting for a while we just ask the bouncer if he can just check the table list for our names so that we don't have to wait for the friend. This is when the bouncer flips 180. He tells we not allowed in anymore and doesn't want to let us in. We think like you just promised us something else. He tells us we're being annoying and tells us to get out of the line. My friend gets real upset and asks why he changed it all up all of a sudden. This is when the bouncer picks up the rope dividers and starts pushing them towards us so that we move out of the line. We essentially don't move but the bouncer keeps edging closer with the ropes and it feels like he's trying to intimidate us with his height. Since we don't move bouncer puts his hands up to get us to move and makes contact with my friend. My friend flips out and doesn't understand what constitutes that kind of behavior from a bouncer. Look I understand that a bouncer's job is difficult having to deal with drunk people but I believe it's common courtesy to know not to put your hands on a customer. I'll take that your mad and frustrated any day but the fact that you have to resort to pushing an individual to get what you want is not ok. You originally had me at 5 stars but you are now down to 1 which has been rightfully deserved by the bouncer in the photo.

I attended the show at this alternate location in SF on Friday night, and had a blast as usual. The venue worked well for the event, for the most part. No balcony seating like the DNA Lounge (the usual spot for Mortified), but they had more bar height tables and chairs for couples on the side, and open seating both on the floor and along the back wall on a raised level of the main room. A small bar in the back corner too. Excellent lighting, and great view of the stage from anywhere. Technical difficulties occurred at multiple points of the event, related to the sound and screen display. They did short music clips in between readers' performances since there was no live band for this particular show. Sometimes the music volume would be excruciatingly loud, and at times the images were projected off the screen or were accidentally changed mid-performance. Can't speak of the nightclub atmosphere here, as it's been decades since I've experienced that. But based on my recent visit, I'd say the venue overall was decent for an event space, and even if not perfect, I still had a good time.
