After the Ford dealer gave me a price to fix an oil leak, I was recommended by a friend to call Rick's RB Auto Center. Rick's honesty and prices are why I chose them after speaking with multiple shops. It is hard to find good honest mechanics who will only repair what is necessary. I will definitely take my cars to Rick for any future work. read more

Honest, fair, and FAST service. I've taken my Dodge Ram in there a few times now and they are fast and efficient. I always get my truck back within a day or two. They are all very friendly and shoot you straight with prices or issues with your vehicle. read more

I found Rick on Yelp by searching "brakes" on my trusty iPhone to find someone close to me. I was pretty astonished that he had all 5 star reviews. This doesn't happen very often, since we all know disgruntled people love to write reviews. I knew I had to get some work done on the ol' Ford, and I had the next day open. I called Rick, and he gave me an appt for the next day. I dropped my car off, and Rick called me within about 30 minutes. He quoted me the job and had it done the same day. My car feels like new again! Don't know much about repair pricing, but it seemed fair and was in line with my expectations. read more

Rick again did a wonderful job on my 2005 C230. He is honest upfronts and quotes the Mercedes dealer, then discounts it by 60%. Fast and reliable. read more

Gas is more expensive here than closer to the freeway. Also, I avoid this place like the plague when I see the tent and table set up for the occasional vendors they allow. Sometimes it's windshield repair but more often it's the waterless carwash spray stuff and those salespeople are like aggressive sharks. They won't leave you alone while you're pumping gas. Even when I tell them I never wash my truck, that I just wait for it to rain, they keep bugging me. LOL! read more

I can't rave enough about Rick's auto repair business. I've been taking my Toyota Sequoia there for years. His prices are about half that of the dealership. He is honest about the work that needs to be done and is always willing to tell me what can be put off. He also offers free transportation if you need to get to and from the shop. Thank you, Rick! I never feel ripped off when I leave your business. read more

Excellent first impression! Very hospitable, I was greeted immediately upon arrival and paperwork was handled within the first 5 minutes by Rick and his team. I have multiple friends with Chevy Tahoes and was told that Ricks shop knew them very well. I was due for spark plugs and had shopped for prices. Rick's prices were great ! I live in Scripps ranch and was concerned it would be a drive but it was very close . 1 mile off the freeway . Excellent customer service and the car was fixed right . I am done with my Chevy service deptmt:( thank you to Rick and your awesome team! read more

This guys are the best. Not only have I been going to them for years, my parents have been using there services as well. I had my engine recently replaced and had great service, whenever anything is wrong they give me a resonable price. They are my to go guys from oil changes to tires to engine repair. I love the guys and their welcoming and positive attitudes. This shop feels like home, and it's good to feel a family atmosphere between customers and service provider. read more

Today I filed a complaint to the bureau of automotive repairs and also the better business bureau about Rick's R&B auto. He replaced my front axle. While the front axle was under warranty the right front seal began to leak. I called Rick and he said the problem was not related to the axle and he would not look at it. I took the car to Secor's auto repair where they recommended I take it to whoever replaced the axle. I told Secor's that the mechanic would not look at the axle or the seal. Secor's repaired the leak. A few days later the car began to leak again. Secor's fixed the leak a second time. They said it was the axle causing the leak and that they would not fix it again. When I took the car back to ricks RB auto, he was as usual, rude and abusive. Finally she agreed to replace the axle with another, similar rebuilt or aftermarket axle. A few days later both seals on both sides of the car began to leak. Rick said he would fix the leaks, but at that point I felt I needed a new, original Toyota parts axle as I could not afford any more down time waiting for my car to be operational. Rick refused and was abusive. The car now sits in my driveway, non-operational, nonsaleable, and an eye sore. read more

I had a great experience! First time I've ever felt a mechanic wasn't taking advantage of what I don't know about cars. Very straight forward and showed me everything. I will use these guys moving forward for sure! read more

The Dream Team, Rick, Rick Jr & the boys! Great auto service, professional & with a smile...an asset to Rancho Bernardo!!!

Need a great mechanic with integrity - go to Rick's Auto! It is in the Shell station in Rancho Bernardo. I was referred by a friend whose husband is extremely picky about his car service and was not disappointed. My car overheated the other day and after letting it sit all day I drove it to Rick's. They assessed my car quickly and 2 different mechanics test drove it. In the end, Rick (the Owner) said there was nothing but a possibly plug in the hose and that everything looked good. And guess what.... no charge! I couldn't believe it! They spent about an hour on my car and probably could have charged me an arm and an leg because I'm a girl and don't understand cars - but they didn't. This is definitely a mechanic that I will come back to and recommend to others. Thanks Rick and crew!! read more

Rick is awesome. Friendly, honest, and gets the job done quickly without pulling your chain. I have been going to him for the past year for random stuff, breaks, and oil changes, and he really is great with his customers. If you're in the inland North County area, I definitely recommend him and his shop. read more

Called around for brakes for a Silverado and this place was the best priced option. Spoke to Rick over the phone and explained to me what I needed. Dropped off my truck after lunch and they offered me a ride home (walked since I live around the corner). Truck was ready within 3 hours and explained to me the parts they installed and what recommendations I needed for future purposes. Rick's crew was friendly and down to earth. For car needs, check this place out. read more

I checked this out because of Yelp and glad that I took the chance w/ their business. Friendly mechanics and prices are reasonable. Got my battery replaced w/in 30 min on a Saturday AM. read more

Went there this morning and Rick gave me an estimate of $330 to service my Transmission, radiator, and power steering. When I came back the bill was $265. He told me that my hoses didn't need replacement and there was no filter for my transmission to replace........only a screen to clean. read more

I totally agree with Walter M.'s review below. This guy (Rick) has no manners, no honesty, is a total rip-off, and a jerk! We took my son's car ('99 Mercedes Benz) to this shop a few months ago, and it took the guy more than 10 days to decide that his transmission needs to be replaced. So, we trusted what we thought was a professional, and replaced the transmission. A few months down the road, my son experienced the same problem with his car, so we towed it back to the shop. This dick.. I mean, Rick... requested diagnostic fees (I may as well have gone to a dealer). When I told him it was the same problem we experienced last time, HE CALLED US CHEAP!!! He said if we didn't want to pay diagnostic fees, we would need to tow the car out of his shop right away. I would highly recommend AGAINST coming here to fix your car. It's a complete waste of time and money, and you will be treated like dirt. read more

I work near Rick's shop and had to get my car towed there during my lunch break for an emergency broken radiator. He told me exactly what was wrong and had my car finished within the following day which was awesome. Since that first time I've been back to his shop for various other car problems, and he has always shown me exactly what was wrong, given his honest opinion on the damages and repair quotes, and always gives me a good deal price-wise. I bring my car in on my lunch break, and it's done by the time I have to drive home, so convenient for a work schedule. Overall I love this shop and the service, definitely recommend to everyone! read more

The Polio vaccine was developed in 1952, while man first walked on the moon in 1969. And today in 2013, Rick of Rick's RB Auto Center became the first mechanic EVER to follow through on his promise to call the customer when his car is ready. Between that, the reasonable price and the solid service, I'm happy. That Rick is personable, tells me the pro's & cons to waiting on specific repairs -and seems trustworthy - makes me a repeat customer. read more

alright, its a gas station so I'm never gonna be too happy going there, but the people at the register are nice, they always have a laugh when I come in there with my handful of coins...but hey, they got the cheapest gas for cash in the ring of gas stations that surround westwood save for arco, but I hear bad things about arco gas and have had bad experiences at their station (correct me if I'm wrong, cheap gas is cheap gas, no?) so yea, stop by, say hello, have a laugh, get cheap gasoline read more

My hero today is Rick's Auto at Shell. My car died at the middle school with 30 minutes to get a jump and get a new battery in before I had to pick up my daughter at her school. They had me out the door in 15 minutes. Thank you so much!! read more

Came in for a smog check and Rick(owner) and his team were very professional and attentive. They gave great advice for the maintenance of my truck. Will tell all my friends about this place! read more

These guys are great! I took my Honda in they were able to isolate and fix the problem in a very short time (bad engine mounts). I was really surprised how quickly they were able to do the work given how busy they were. The fact that they were busy was also a good sign to me. read more

I've been to Rick's shop the last few times I've needed anything for my vehicle, and every time have experienced amazing customer service, and the best prices! Rick is a genuine guy and actually cares about customer satisfaction. Last time I needed tires he gave me a lower price than anywhere I could find for quality tires, and threw in a complementary alignment. They always have fast service, but recently I needed my oil changed and happened to show up while it was busy. Because it took longer than originally quoted, Rick gave me the oil change for free. Best mechanic is San Diego, highly recommended! read more

Really like this place. My van was pretty horrible (dirty, falling apart literally), but they didn't make me feel judged. Wonderful, friendly mechanics. My repairs came with a warranty, which they've honored twice--no hassles, no extra charges. read more

Rick and team are the best at fair pricing. They make sure to do the job right and always take care of me. I have a newer car and old car and they can fix either hands down. I always return because I trust. read more

Rick rocks. Brought in my Acura because the engine was shaking badly. He immediately identified the problem as a bad ignition coil (and identified another coil that had also gone bad, showing me diagnostic codes to prove it really was the case). Totally trust Rick and his professional crew. Skip the coupon dealing mechanics and go with Rick, his upfront prices are fair and reasonable and his service is awesome (so far, the best mechanic I've found in my 20yrs in San Diego). He's totally out to win you over as a loyal customer. Worked for me. read more

I just had an excellent experience at Ricks RB auto. I have been to many places and I found Rick to be honest Fair prices and friendly. As the owner he works with you directly. He gave me options without pushing me into over paying. He also has his son Rick jr working for him. You know they care for their customers. I would highly recommend him for day to day Maintenence and major work. Thanks rick for helping me and my family read more

This has truly been the worst auto experience of my life. I had my brakes done eight months ago and have had my truck back in the shop six times for my brakes squeaking loudly since I first brought the truck in. Every time I bring it back Rick has a new excuse, my tires are too aggressive, the wear on the tread of the tires is uneven causing the brakes to not work right, I need city tires, my truck isn't strong enough to be a pool work truck, it's a 4x4 v8 f150 5.4L extended cab. There's more, I can go on and on about the poor customer service of calling asking for calls back and not getting them, trying to have adult civil conversations on the phone and getting hung up on, being told to come back the next day so I could be taken care of and showing up the next day and the shop not even knowing I was bringing my truck back in. What it comes down to is the truth. Rick is going to BS you, lie to you, and not treat you with customer care, and the worst part is, they'll treat your vehicle the same way, Rock couldn't get my brakes to stop squeaking and voided my warrantee. I didn't even list everything else, I hope this is enough to get you to take your business elsewhere. read more

Very knowledgeable crew! They explain very well the situation so that you can make an educated decision!

My truck needed new spark plugs (after 100,000 miles) with the usual oil change and Ricks' guys did it in a couple of hours while I went and had some lunch. My truck has been running good since then, so i'll definitely bring it back for Rick to work on it. read more

Rick and his staff were very helpful and willing to work with my schedule and budget to get my car fixed. I had several things my car needed including brakes, windshield wiper repair, battery and serpentine belt replacement. He gave me several options and explained what was important to fix immediately and what I could afford to wait on. His staff also helped me coordinate the repairs by dropping me off at work while they worked on my car. I had a great experience with this shop and will definitely return here for my next repairs. read more

I was looking for an honest mechanic in San Diego that was going to up sell me on everything I didn't need. I went on yelp and found Rick's RB Auto Center, it had a five star rating. I figured I would give it a try, it couldn't be worse than the other mechanics I had been to since I moved to San Diego. I needed a 100k tune up on my car. Rick was a straight shooter, he told me everything I needed to do and exactly what he was going to do for the price he quoted me. WOW! this was a change. After he completed all the work in the same day, he explained to me everything he maintenance on the car. While he was doing the maintenance on my car he checked to see if anything else need to be done. He didn't find anything or try to sell me some filter I didn't need. This was great! An honest mechanic!!! It was a great experience and the price was 1/4 of what Midas told me for the same work. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a honest mechanic in San Diego. read more
