Great neighbors and everyone helps one another; true boaters that use and work on their boats. Reasonable, four-payment slip fee starting early in the year not 50% in October like some marinas. Many, large, costly boats are berthed and stored here. The atmosphere seems to go by dock letter: A Dock - most expensive slips especially near the fuel dock/office, view across parking lot and field of Cedar Creek, "tent people" some with outdoor kitchens, smaller slips further down. B Dock seems mostly adults and larger boats with some noisy parties. C Dock is quiet with singles and couples and far enough away from the "parking lot picnic table people". D Dock is very quiet especially the far slips by the travel lift even though there is a "triple tent" nearby, there has been no noise from there to date.

Not ideal for those with vision impairments or without a phone. Very disorganized, they tried to send us off with no life vests and no anchor. Had to ask for another vest because they gave one that had no clasp, and the worker replied well you won't need it anyway...that's not the point. The workers spend more time sitting around running their mouths than doing their jobs. They have a terrible and difficult to see map to try and explain where you're allowed to go, and no copy is provided for while you're on the boat. Really crappy boats with non-functioning motors. We mentioned to them the motor was dumping oil in the water and they ignored us. There is a very limited area that you can use the boat. We got out towards the big bridge and the motor died. We tried to get it started for a long period of time before we were able to get it going. We started heading back with it and it died again. We finally got it back to the rental place and told them of the problems. Again, explained that there was a large quantity of oil dumping into the water non-stop. He the told the other guy the fuel pump needed to be replaced and the fuel line was leaking. We asked for at least a partial refund (we were on it for 1 hour total trying to get the motor started and back to the rental location) and they absolutely refused. They didn't offer another boat or motor. The just screwed us out of our money, because of course it's cash only. Don't fall for this scam, they are boat slum lords!

One of the Best Sailing Experiences of My Life!…read more I had the most fantastic experience sailing on the Jersey Shore's Barnegat Bay on a beautiful September day. The "Steph-Er-Laur" is a Beneteau 32-foot sloop owned by sailboat charter company "A Day On The Bay." The tour departs from The Inn at Rivers Edge Marina, 223 East Lacey Rd. Forked River, NJ 08731 with easy access from the Garden State Parkway Exit 74. The sailing vessel has plenty of cockpit space and foredeck for relaxing while you sit back and take in the sights and beauty of the best sailing area that Barnegat Bay has to offer, including the Barnegat Lighthouse. This trip brought back so many beautiful memories for me since I sailed my pram sailboat, "Little Dipper," here as a child. The weather was perfect, and I had an outstanding time sailing with Captain Warren and his wife, Andi, who served as the "First Mate." I was a lieutenant with the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary for 14 years and was impressed that Captain Warren went over the safety features of the boat and our trip before we left the dock. As a current university professor, I give Captain Warren an "A+" for sharing this important information first. I was also impressed that the sailboat was inspected and certified for safety by the US Coast Guard and that Captain Warren, is a United States Coast Guard Licensed Captain. A fellow passenger, Donna, was on the trip for a sailing lesson. Captain Warren is a terrific instructor, and I learned a few new things myself! Barnegat Bay is a very safe place to learn how to sail and enjoy the loveliness of the experience. The feeling is hard to describe as the sails catch the wind and the sloop gently heals over. Cold water and light snacks were offered, including a large and very clean bathroom or "head" as they are known on sailing vessels. I enjoyed the opportunity to take the helm and benefited from the Captain's extensive experience with wind, surf, and sail. I can't thank "A Day on the Bay" enough for a wonderful experience! Well priced, plus you're also paying for someone to basically keep an eye out in the unlikely event you find yourself in trouble... they are able to zip over via jet-ski. We enjoyed paddling over to the little island to view some nesting shore birds. I also paddled by a Cownose Ray today. Highly recommend for people new to SUP.

Lucky for me, LBI Luxury Charters had just started doing private boat tours a month before my visit. They provided small snacks and drinks as well as a cooler with ice for the items we brought. The boat was beautiful and very roomy for the 4 of us -- you can bring up to 6 on board -- and was not ridiculously expensive for a two hour ride, especially compared to the other tours I found. After speaking to "bob" the acclaimed owner of this marina during a week in September this year, we discussed slips for the year. He went over placement, fees, etc, as I expected. We settled on a location and price and made arrangements for me to move my boat to his marina that Saturday at noon. All Great Right ? Come Saturday I pull into the marina in my boat at the scheduled time as directed, and tie up to the fuel dock. After searching for a marina staff member I find the fuel dock worker that explains to me the main office closes for lunch at noon, and they shall return at one o'clock. OK....... So i wait, and wait, and wait.......... along with a half dozen other disgruntled current marina slip holders. Office finally reopens, after what i hope was a good lunch for them, at 2:45pm !! I wait my turn in line to speak to the marina office staff, over hearing numerous complaints from every person in line in front of me. Finally at 3:15 pm my turn comes up, after much confusion from the office staff, who have no record of me, or my prior arrangements with the owner. When inquiring on the status or phone availability of the owner the acclaimed "bob". I was told "he went fishing today" and is unavailable. thirty minutes later, with a growing line behind me, the staff member finds the entry of my boat slip in the register all set to go, but.......... she did not check the register that morning and already leased the slip to another boater. Instead of a "im sorry" or any remorse or apology, to my shock she says their might be another opening in two or three weeks........ great, but my boat is tied up at your fuel dock. So trying to put this disaster of an experience behind me, i quickly scramble to find another maria close by that can take my boat into a slip that evening...... And i do, the very nice gentleman at Long Key Yacht Club said he had a few openings and i could pick which ever i liked. He even keep the office open late that day to accommodate me. Finally I have found somebody with a head on their shoulders. At long key, better slip, better hook ups, better service, and half the price of Holiday and their disastrous customer service. I do realize that Holiday Harbor is one of the nicest maria's in the Barnegat Inlet area, with probably some of the best amenities, which comes with a higher cost. With that said I do believe this cost is much higher than reasonable, but with quality comes price, quality = price right.... answer is no. It certainly does not come with customer service, this has been made clear to me. My advice, stay away from Holiday Harbor......... Buyer Beware.........
