Your GPS will take you to the area and you'll see a restaurant, motel, lodgings, drive on circles... And probably stop to call for guidance. The office is the small blue building seen in my picture. There are really no signs anywhere. Plenty of parking though. I rented a Carolina Skiff, which is a 16' boat, ideal for crabbing or simple fishing in the area. It's a great value at $160 for 4 hours. Just realize that this won't be luxurious. It's more functional. The staff were helpful in getting us going. I have a boating license so we signed a couple papers and were on the water in no time. The skiff was supposed to have a bimini top, but it didn't. The guy who helped see us off told us it was ripped and they had no others. That was a disappointment as we'd bake under the sun without it. Anyway, we lasted a few hours on the water and the girl working in the office provided me with a partial refund to account for the missing Bimini. That earned them 5 stars here. You are required to keep the boat nearby and that's a challenge for fishing as the bay is quite shallow almost everywhere, except in the channel... And we can't parking a boat of this size in the middle of the channel. If you really wanna go out fishing, I suggest a charter boat. This skiff though would be great for a crabbing adventure.

We had the best time ever! The crew was so friendly and helpful. Everything was explained to us on how to operate the pontoon prior to jetting off. We felt very safe and secure after the instructions. They helped us load our items on and off the boat and even took a golf cart to drive our heavy items (coolers and beach bags) from the parking lot to the dock. Fun fact: There is no boating license required to drive a pontoon boat! You just need a regular drivers license and I believe all boat operators must be 25 and older. We set sail on our 8 hour excursion and sailed along the beautiful Barnegat Bay, soaking up the sun, smelling the saltwater, and taking in the gorgeous views of the Jersey coast. I recommend coming prepared with lots of food, snacks and drinks to keep the vibes going all day! The company even provided us with a Bluetooth speaker so we were able to blast our own music. Our original plan was to sail to Tices Shoal, which is where people anchor their boats, jump into the water, and party all day. They have floating food vendors there too. But there were so many jellyfish in the water this day, so we found our own little private cove without any jellyfish where we could jump out and swim and work on our tans. We even anchored down for a bit to explore this little shore which had a whole marsh behind it. It was fun finding little creatures and cool rocks and shells (all while respecting nature of course). If you're seeing this, this is your sign to book a pontoon boat with your family and friends and have the best summer day ever. We got very lucky with the weather and feeling so carefree on the pontoon was such a nice feeling. Don't miss this one of a kind Jersey shore experience!

Not ideal for those with vision impairments or without a phone. Very disorganized, they tried to send us off with no life vests and no anchor. Had to ask for another vest because they gave one that had no clasp, and the worker replied well you won't need it anyway...that's not the point. The workers spend more time sitting around running their mouths than doing their jobs. They have a terrible and difficult to see map to try and explain where you're allowed to go, and no copy is provided for while you're on the boat. Really crappy boats with non-functioning motors. We mentioned to them the motor was dumping oil in the water and they ignored us. There is a very limited area that you can use the boat. We got out towards the big bridge and the motor died. We tried to get it started for a long period of time before we were able to get it going. We started heading back with it and it died again. We finally got it back to the rental place and told them of the problems. Again, explained that there was a large quantity of oil dumping into the water non-stop. He the told the other guy the fuel pump needed to be replaced and the fuel line was leaking. We asked for at least a partial refund (we were on it for 1 hour total trying to get the motor started and back to the rental location) and they absolutely refused. They didn't offer another boat or motor. The just screwed us out of our money, because of course it's cash only. Don't fall for this scam, they are boat slum lords!

One of the Best Sailing Experiences of My Life!…read more I had the most fantastic experience sailing on the Jersey Shore's Barnegat Bay on a beautiful September day. The "Steph-Er-Laur" is a Beneteau 32-foot sloop owned by sailboat charter company "A Day On The Bay." The tour departs from The Inn at Rivers Edge Marina, 223 East Lacey Rd. Forked River, NJ 08731 with easy access from the Garden State Parkway Exit 74. The sailing vessel has plenty of cockpit space and foredeck for relaxing while you sit back and take in the sights and beauty of the best sailing area that Barnegat Bay has to offer, including the Barnegat Lighthouse. This trip brought back so many beautiful memories for me since I sailed my pram sailboat, "Little Dipper," here as a child. The weather was perfect, and I had an outstanding time sailing with Captain Warren and his wife, Andi, who served as the "First Mate." I was a lieutenant with the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary for 14 years and was impressed that Captain Warren went over the safety features of the boat and our trip before we left the dock. As a current university professor, I give Captain Warren an "A+" for sharing this important information first. I was also impressed that the sailboat was inspected and certified for safety by the US Coast Guard and that Captain Warren, is a United States Coast Guard Licensed Captain. A fellow passenger, Donna, was on the trip for a sailing lesson. Captain Warren is a terrific instructor, and I learned a few new things myself! Barnegat Bay is a very safe place to learn how to sail and enjoy the loveliness of the experience. The feeling is hard to describe as the sails catch the wind and the sloop gently heals over. Cold water and light snacks were offered, including a large and very clean bathroom or "head" as they are known on sailing vessels. I enjoyed the opportunity to take the helm and benefited from the Captain's extensive experience with wind, surf, and sail. I can't thank "A Day on the Bay" enough for a wonderful experience! We learned so much and really credit sailors because it is a lot of work! A lot of science goes into this, balance, strength and patience. Loved it!! He has water available if you don't have or forget. He also allowed small snacks on board. Don't forget to wear closed shoes and apply sunscreen before your sail! I spoke with their head mechanic for 30 or so minutes and was quickly impressed by knowledge and skill, in addition he had worked on this boat in the past and knew its history. I made arrangements to have the boat moved to their marina and to conduct the tests for both compression, leak down and a sea trial. A few days later i received a very high level report and called to review with their office manager. Their findings were the engines were healthy and like new. both compression and leak down were well within normal and almost looked good in their summary. They found no other issues during their checks. Happy with the news, and other inspection results, I purchased the boat, arranged for shipment with the help of GLPM and settled my debts. two weeks later, we launched her into its new home in Seattle. After a thorough inspection, i started it up. This is where is all fell apart! The port engine was pumping blue smoke and the starboard engine was hard starting. I called GLPM - and they basically dismissed me as i was wrong and there is nothing they can do wrong. in the end they stopped returning calls and emails. A year later and several thousand dollars invested in diagnostics, here are the findings. 1. the starboard engine had a dead fuel injector and was causing the engine to run rich and rough. 2. port engine lower half is bad, after repeating the mechanical tests, and doing a second leak down test there are three cylinders well beyond tolerance and therefore suggesting an long block replacement. Oil rings are worn, only way to fix is to replace or rebuild. Not easy or cheap. 3. depth sensor leak at through hull fitting, had to haul out the boat, remove, re-glass, re-drill and reinstall. These items were not sudden or onset by transport. These guys clearly didn't do their job, or were covering for a local owner. My advice, don't trust these guys, I got duped by them, don't you!
