Absolutely the best framing shop I've ever worked with... in RVA or DC! My husband and I have used Rick's to frame a print that was a gift from our son, and to frame two original art pieces we bought at a local gallery. We also used them to re-mat a painting to go with new decor. Rick's is on the pricey side, but well, well, worth it. First, the selection of frames and mats is outstanding, and easy to browse. They offer a wide variety of frames in every style imaginable. The staff are wonderful - knowledgable and friendly. We've worked with 3 separate framing experts for our projects and all were extremely helpful, making suggestions and taking all the time we need to get just the right look. Rick's is popular, so if you go on a weekend or lunch hour, you may have to wait a bit. But be patient... the reason you are waiting is because they are not rushing their customers, and they won't rush you when it's your turn. The turnaround time for framing is reasonable, and they call you when your items are ready for pick-up. Rick's is our go-to shop for framing from now on! read more

Brought in my son's college diploma for framing. The person working with us helped pick out the mat colors and frame styles. The price was reasonable and the finished product really looks amazing. Took about 6 weeks to get it completed, but would definitely go back for future products. read more

YELP should have a separate rating system for businesses such as Rick's Custom Frame: 1st: They remember me by name. Maybe they don't remember everybody, but they got me. That's important. 2nd: They listen to every detail of your/my needs and quietly make suggestions. Its professional and informal at the same time. What a sweet mixture. 3rd: Your finished memento comes back CRISPLY packaged. I love going to this place. A#1, and the ambiance is nice too. read more

Rick's Custom Frame and Gallery is a gem I just stumbled on when I needed to have two prints framed for my daughter's birthday. It is not inexpensive, but the care and attention given to my prints was as if I had a Rembrandt! They also were able to meet the deadline for when I needed it. Thank you so much! read more

Wow. Just wow. Rick's Custom Frame and Gallery is amazing. I walked in with a series of original pastel works that I collected over the years in their tired, dirty gallery frames. Austin greeted me and spent hours figuring out just the right frames. He was professional, friendly, and knowledgeable, but beyond that, he was patient as I tried to imagine what would fit the art and the space (we recently bought a new home) as well as serve the concept of an art cluster for an irregular space. He also respected the artwork, giving an honest evaluation of which glass and matt style would serve the art as well as the eye. Framing itself isn't cheap anywhere you go, but they were right in line with other quotes I've gotten. What was different was the time; 5 large, moderately complex framing jobs in under a month? Then call me in half that time and tell me that I can pick it up? I was pleased enough to come to Yelp and do a review, lol. The TL;DR on Ricks is that they are professional, capable and really nice to deal with, they deliver on time, and are fairly priced. (I promised them photos, so here you go, Austin!) read more

I created a custom order for an awesome client that included four 6" natural stone tiles with my flamingo images. This client has been using Rick's Custom Frame + Gallery for many years and uses them exclusively to frame his many beautiful art pieces. I can absolutlely see why too, as he shared a photo of this framed piece with me. I couldn't be more pleased with the stellar job that Laura with Rick's Custom Frame + Gallery did with mounting and displaying my 4 Art tiles, each weighing 1 lb. within a beautiful frame for a truly gorgeous finished piece. If you are in the greater Richmond area, Rick's is the place to take your artwork for the highest professional quality, and customer satisfaction. read more

When I left SC my bible study leader gave me a prized possession that I will cherish always and forever - a beautiful painting that has so much meaning to a new season in life. Along with the painting she gave me a frame in which the canvas didn't fit snug so I had not yet hung it on my wall. Well, I just searched for a place and Rick's was my first option. So, off I went ... walked in and was immediately acknowledged and greeted by both persons at the counter and a young lady from the back asked how she could help. I explained the situation with the frame and it was a quick, easy solution. I was expecting to pay a little something for the help, but they didn't charge a thing ! I'm so thankful !!! What amazing customer service to be willing to do one little thing that other places charged. Next time we are in search of custom framing, we will definitely return here!!! Quality customer service is always a top on my list and this shop exceeded those! Shop here!! (Just be mindful it's in a little strip shopping center so parking is a bit limited but I just parked a little further down on the street, and walked -- no biggie) read more

Great run small business - frames are great and staff takes time helping make good decisions with you. I'll continue to support.

I took six large, high quality photographs to Rick's to be framed for my office. They did a great job helping me pick out a frame, giving me prices and letting my boss and I decide on what frame to use. The told me two weeks for the job to be completed and it took just that long for them to complete the work. The quality is amazing, the photos really pop. They did a matte, frame, and put a name inside of the matte. The frame came ready to hang with hardware and picture wire attached. The price was on the higher end, but the quality shows and was completely worth it. If I ever need anything nicely framed again, I am definitely coming here! read more
