The ties were owned and worn by Rush Limbaugh and the signed letter was from was his wife. I was contacted by the owner who refused to "touch" the project. While letting me know he had framed hundreds of artifacts from past presidents and otherwise important historical objects for museums, he told me he would not want to physically touch these items because of who owned them. He did offer to "consult" on the design of the piece but otherwise refused service. The tone of the email was polite. The outcome and decision was disappointing, to be refused service because of a radio show host and by extension my own political beliefs. I would have gladly used a business whose owner(s) may not necessarily agree with my political beliefs, but that was not a two-way street. I guess I could have handled this like those demanding a wedding cake be made by someone that doesn't want to do it, or protesting a photographer not wanting to take pictures at certain events, etc., but I instead just moved on as there are plenty of other framing shops. It is a shame that those that tout "tolerance" and "inclusiveness" the loudest so often turn around and refuse to do business over political beliefs.

Fast forward in time and I fell head over heels for their seafoam compass kite ring. My partner used to make maps and we've traveled/grown a lot together in the years we've been together and I loved the symbolism the ring had for me. We set up an engagement ring appointment earlier this year to try on different rings and get my ring size. We spent an hour learning all about engagement rings and drooling at all the stunning designs. I fell in love with so many rings that afternoon. Lexi, the specialist who helped us, was absolutely incredible. Her knowledge and kindness made the special experience 1000x even more special. I was so giddy and excited. And I felt like she shared and encouraged my excitement. I went back one other time to show my mom the rings and she loved them too. My now fiancé had a good experience with Emily Warden Designs. Do know that they won't melt down metals, but they can use stones from other rings. We were given his grandmother's engagement ring and the center diamond of my ring is now that stone. I love having a piece of her with me with the gorgeous design. My fiancé had to place a custom order to use the center stone, but told me it was an easy process. They say it takes 4-8 weeks to make it and he got it in 5 I believe. We went to school in Miami, so he proposed to me at the riverwalk where we had our first kiss. I love my ring so much. Upon the owners recommendation we purchased Kingdomino, a cross between domino and something like Catan. We've been playing a lot and it's cool because it keeps our 9- and 12-year-olds engaged and is still interesting to us as adults too. We will be coming back for more recommendations.
