The wine paring was over-the-top delicious! What we really appreciated, was the fact everything was from the surrounding region - awesome way to highlight the local area wines! And, not only was each wine outrageously delicious but the compliments to the dishes were perfection. And did I mention that they do not normally offer veggie tasting menus so the preparation that went into our evening's experience was duly noted The Sommelier made sure to provide a wine card for us as we were leaving with the names of all the wines we tried, so we could go hunt down bottles for ourselves - score!! We were greeted immediately upon entering around 8pm on a Wednesday and though the shopping area around us was deserted, this place was absolutely bustling. Our party of 3 was offered a high top table at the bar as none of the regular tables were available. This suited us perfectly! We were offered English and German menus, which was nice as it's always great fun to attempt to figure out what's what. Our first waiter (perhaps the manager?) was full of personality and took great care to help us pronounce the names of some of the dishes. He also recommended our excellent appetizer! Another waitress took his place later in the meal, so I assume she was on break when we were seated. She also provided super friendly and polite service. I had the roasted goose, and it was simply divine. Beautifully rendered skin, not chewy, tons of flavor. This came with a heaping pile of vinegary red cabbage and kartoffelkloesse (soft potato dumpling, which I actually don't care for that much but these were okay). The fresh Pils on tap (Bitburger, of course) was clean and crisp, and the ambience was cozy and comfortable. Everyone was quite satisfied with their meals, though in classic German style the portions were enormous. The bill came out to about 100€ total for three diners, which felt about right to me. I was super happy with this place!

Our server suggested I try the Shrimp Salad with green beans & avocado. It seemed like an odd combination of ingredients, but oh was I wrong. All the flavors and textures popped. The butterfly shrimp were incredible. As someone who loves Mussels, I met my match with the entrée size bowl served in creamy white wine sauce and with french fries. I made a gallant attempt to finish it, but fell short. It was a feast and cost only 34 Euros. My daughter met her match with the French Minced Potato Casserole au Gratin. Super rich and delish. What I REALLY enjoyed was the wine pairing. Each glass complimented each dish perfectly. If only they served it in a timely manner... so not a Michelin experience, IMO. Service was all over the place. I wasn't really checked on and one dish a server just came by and took it away without asking If I was done... and no, I was not done. They didn't really time my wine pairing with the meals which put me off. Not sure how Michelin rated restaurants in Germany go, but I was not really impressed with this one. Decent food, not so great service. If someone asked me to go back, I wouldn't be opposed to it... but certainly not a Michelin experience I'd recommend to anyone... just a restaurant to go to for a decent meal.

Not on such a busy road that it would be noisy and the hotel has columns and a courtyard that separates the restaurant from the street.

Add great au gratin potatoes and fresh vegetables and we reached "fantastic." The salmon and gorgeous local asparagus were outstanding.
