We enjoyed an excellent meal at Cafe St Goar! D had the spaghetti with marinara, and proclaimed it best she's had this side of Italy! She enjoyed a glass of the Rose' Trocken with her meal. Mel had the schnitzel, which was excellent. The surprise was the fries with the schnitzel - best in Europe! Better than Bruges! I had the Rigatoni Arrabiata. It was very tasty, with just the right mix of pasta, mushrooms, ham and sauce. I had a glass of the Oberweseler Riesling Trocken, which was very enjoyable. The service was prompt and attentive. We stopped by here on a cool Tuesday afternoon awaiting our river cruise to show up. Long story short, a very enjoyable spot to have a bite sitting outside. The cafe itself is lovely and fun. The service is friendly and helpful. We had some tea, soup and some strammer maxs (ham and eggs on toast) which were quite good and satisfying. The prices felt reasonable. If you find yourself standing outside this fine cafe and are wondering if you should stop for a snack, you probably should. read more

Such a delightful shop! We stopped by here for coffee, desserts, and sandwiches. The coffee had the cutest presentation, and the raspberry cake was the best - not too sweet! We didn't necessarily need the egg sandwich, but it kept us full for a while! The interior is so cute with the walls all lined with tea sets and fortunately restrooms were free. read more

Quaint traditional German cake and tea/coffee shop that offers a bit more selection and indoor seating than its competitors. After hiking up to Rheinfels Castle and back (the train was broken and I'm too cheap to take a cab), me and the girlfriend were hankering for something sweet. Cafes and Restaurants are numerous in St. Goar, but if you want the widest selection of desserts with spacious indoor seating, Cafe St. Goar is the obvious choice. Their English is excellent, the desserts are impressive, and the prices are reasonable. I ordered a tea and apple pie, which was just delightful. Just walk up and order and their bring the food or drink out to you. It's a little touristy but the whole town is, and I was impressed by the selection here. Definitely worth a stop. read more

Stopped by to grab the famous Black Forest cake and it was absolutely worth the calories haha. Slice was deliciously decadent with the large pieces of fruit and cream. It had just the right balance of cake and cream layers to really make the cake taste sinful but not heavy. My only wish was I had more time during my vacation to try out all the other pieces of dessert they had in the display but one piece of Black Forest cake was enough to satisfy my sweet-tooth overseas for the day. If you're on vacation and in the area, definitely try out the Black Forest cake and then after take a walk along the river to burn off the calories :). read more

Randomly stopped here because I was hungry and interested in their sweets. I noticed they had Black Forest cake (Schwarzwald Kirschtorte), which I know is particular to Germany. So instead of getting a familiar cake, I ordered a slice. The crust is a cookie crust. In the cake, thrre are cherries, chocolate, whipped cream and some liqueur on the icing. Not overly sweet. Taste ok. Did not try their coffee but a local (who sat next to me) said they offer the best coffee in this town, St. Goar. They only take cash only. No cards. read more

Lovely bakery items and lovely staff. We spent quite a bit of time here on our recent trip to St. Goar. They offer a typical German breakfast and it is delicious, very highly recommend. They also offer light lunch options. We tried quite a bit of their bakery items and they were all delicious, fantastic cappuccino as well. We still talk about how much we miss waking up and walking over to Cafe St. Goar. read more
