Any place that nickels and dimes you like this is suspicious. My daughter brought her car in and they charged her two different labor rates that were not explained to us and just showed up on the bill, they charged her for windshield wiper fluid, they charged a $38 "convenience fee" and they charged $47.50 for "additional shop supplies". I appreciate upfront and honest communication prior to being charged for petty items like that. I even talked to them on the phone and they never mentioned anything like this. Went to Rick's for an estimate to repair a visible leak from the transmission oil cooler. Staff was friendly, location was convenient and service time was reasonable. The problem was the cost. They are extremely HIGH! The cost for the estimate is based on time it takes to diagnose the problem. Starting price was $83, which is fair but that cost does NOT come off of the repair if you choose to have them complete the repair. My total estimated cost came to $2,404 plus the $90 cost to diagnose which seemed to be really high. I actually took it to the dealer who diagnosed and repaired the problem for $1k LESS! Dealers are usually higher, so I say beware and price compare before using this service. read more

My husband and I have used Ricks for the better part of 15 years but today will be our last visit. I took our vehicle in for brakes. I called ahead and made an appointment. They didn't even bother to look at it until the very end of the day and then made excuses as to why it could not be done. It is extremely annoying as a female when someone in an auto shop talks down to you like you are stupid. This was never my experience with Ricks in the past but there appears to be a new staff person, who I wouldn't give a dime to for service going forward, nor will I recommend to anyone. After speaking to this individual on the phone, I told him I would be coming to pick the vehicle up to take elsewhere. I expressed very clearly my disappointment in the lack of service. When I left in my vehicle, I was almost in a serious accident because Ricks had apparently opened my hood and left it open and unlatched, and flew up on me on the highway when I was driving. I had taken the vehicle for brakes, so there should have been zero need to be under the hood for any reason. Additionally, I would expect that the hood should have been adequately secured and closed if they had opened it. Not only did they have horrible service, they literally endangered my life. We've used Rick's several times now and each time has been a frustrating experience. We always make an appointment and always end up having to leave the car for days because other things came up so they weren't able to get to it the first day. How many people can actually be without their car for days until the mechanic can find time to get to it?! And then on top of that, their fee just to diagnose the issue is outrageous! To have the car checked out only for them to say the battery needs to be replaced cost almost $700. Seriously?! We've given enough chances. Time to move on. read more

I called Rick's when I was 5 minutes away and asked if they had availability to do an oil change that day and possible a quick diagnosis on a tire problem I was having. They luckily had an opening and did the oil change and figured out the tire problem and I was back on the road in an hour. Do not go here,had a engine done and transmission and have had nothing but problems, it's always oh we didn't replace that, have spent at least $12grand and you mean to tell me you didn't replace it!! NO NO NO!!! I'm not sure what happened to my original post with all the problems I have been thru since June/July 2014. I believed all was finally fine in the summer last year. This nightmare was all over door handles. They wouldn't just give me my money back to get it done at a place I actually saw the door handles. *I have to pay to redo them now*! I drive maybe a 1,000 miles a year. The side that is facing the west is sun faded already and there is a rattle as something is loose inside the door. I gave them chance after chance after chance. Waiting for rides, no auto for my personal needs and again waiting to live my life while they had my vehicle about 4-5 times. No exaggeration! Spare yourself and your vehicle!!!! I feel like I've been overcharged here multiple times. There has been multiple times where I've taken my car to Rick's first(because they are so close to my house) then to another place for a 2nd opinion and the 2nd opinion is about 500 dollars less. Also this last ''second opinion'' I got told me that the problem ricks diagnosed my car with wasn't even the problem and fixed the car for 800 less. I will officially never go back. read more
