I was told on the phone that he(Doug) would give me back my down payment and my car as he'd has no use for a $2750 vehicle (2017 Chevy Equinox)he definitely had an attitude. Later that day Doug left a message indicating they sold my car. We went the next day. We were upset. We took our 2016 Buick Regal to DAVE CROSS in LEE'S SUMMIT for an oil change, tire rotation, and a new battery. Standard services that every dealer provides a hundred times a day. When they finished, my husband started driving home when an alarm went off in the car. The dashboard message was, "NO OIL. TURN ENGINE OFF IMMEDIATELY". He was in traffic and desperately trying to get back to the dealer's before the engine froze up. And he did make it. He was told that the markers on the dealership's oil dispenser are worn off so everyone GUESSES how much oil they are putting in a car. They checked and it showed we had almost four quarts, but the sensor doesn't register unless they put in the full five when the oil filter is replaced. After that was taken care of, my husband once again begins to drive home. He gets halfway and the dashboard sounds an alarm and the message, "TIRE MONITOR SYSTEM" displays. Finally at home, my husband called the dealership and they said to ignore the error message, the tire pressure is correct, and that it only takes a few minutes to reset the tire monitoring system BUT it can only be done by the dealership. And the dealership is in Lee's Summit and we live in Peculiar, MO so it is a bit of a drive especially after spending couple hundred dollars for services that were not properly done. The two SIMPLE jobs they neglected to do correctly makes it difficult for us to have faith in their service department, knowing that they guess on how much oil they put in your car. We were offered no discount, no partial refund, nothing for a job NOT WELL DONE, and nothing for the time we spent waiting for them to do their job. And we still must drive back AGAIN to get the tire monitoring system reset. read more

We are currently going through the Lemon Law buy back and so unfair and Dave Cross motors offered a buy back amount which was a slap in our face. no fault of our own and we have to pay 16,000 for another car that they chose for us. Really wanted to like this dealership. Took my mom here a few years back and had a pretty good experience buying a new car from Matt Cross. However, after dealing with the service department on what should have been a simple fix, I will never return. I took my 2015 Tahoe in last Tuesday as it was leaking fuel. I was disappointed in my interaction from the start. The individual checking me in seemed to struggle operating the computer. After explaining the symptoms of the leak, I asked them to check for a recall as I was able to find a recall for a similar problem. I would have thought it would be automatic, but after help from a co-worker, they determined no recall was listed for my VIN number. After dropping the car off at 1pm, I received a call at 2:30pm stating the repair would cost $4,000. They claimed they ran a "Smoke Test" and found a leak at the seam of the fuel tank. I was all but certain this was not the issue. After a search on Google, turns out there is a service bulletin outlining an issue with the fuel line. I can only speculate the technician didn't know or really didn't care to find. I let them know I would be down to pick up my vehicle and to not perform any additional work. They then informed me the cost for the diagnostic was $175. I have no problem with diagnostic fee, especially if it is accurate, helpful, or reasonable. I'll let anyone with a computer Google "average diagnostic fee" and determine for themselves if $175 seems high. And of course, the diagnosis was incorrect. Normally I prefer to have a certified mechanic work on my vehicle. As at this point I had no faith in the Service Department at Dave Cross, and elected to take the vehicle home to either find a reasonable quote or make the repair myself. After ordering a part online for $50 and spending less than 2 hours Saturday afternoon replacing the line, the repair is complete, and the issue is resolved. I'm not sure the reason the Dave Cross service department would so severely mis-diagnose the problem. At this point I'll refrain from giving an opinion. That said, anyone taking the time to read the Yelp reviews can probably make their own judgement. Whatever the real reason, I won't be back. read more

I gave $1,000 deposit towards the purchase of a new canyon. I was told it would be done in 6 to 8 weeks. Here it is 6 months later still hasn't even gone into production. So I bought another vehicle and now they won't give me my deposit back . I was lied to two different times once in June they told me it was the next end of production and again in July. read more

Unfortunately you have to give at least one star to write a review. My experience equal zero stars for the predatory repeated practices by this service department. My experience with this dealership service department has been beyond the worse. Reading the other reviews confirmed my thoughts that they have inexperienced technicians, do not care about the customers and intentionally prey on inexperienced customers. I too brought my vehicle here seeking guidance due to complications with my vehicle. I also was misdiagnose after originally requesting a diagnosis check to determine the cause of the issues I was experiencing. I spent $2500 only to pick the vehicle up and experience worse problems than before including a check engine light. To then return the vehicle get another diagnosis that was not apart of the original diagnosis. Then to have my vehicle sit on their lot for two months. Meanwhile I believed repairs were underway to later learn no repairs had been completed or even started. Although the last conversation with the service department was authorizing completion of the work because I need my vehicle. Then to get a call a week later the day before pick up $480 more repair work needed to be completed. I agree to that work and then the day of pick up the following week again another call now an additional $1900 - $2500 more repairs need to be completed. Based on other reviews I'm not alone in this. It appears to me this is the common practice for this service department. They misdiagnosed your vehicle repairs causing further damage and or worsen the problem then charge you to fix it with no compensation for their negligence or lack of knowledge. I have also experienced horrific customer service from Dave Cross and Kerri who are the leadership of this service department. This is disgusting that a business would continue to operate with these unfair practices and treatment of their customers for years without any recourse. We purchased a new truck. The finance manager was a fast talker and put extended warranty on my contract before I knew it. I have NEVER purchased or seen the need to purchase an extended warranty on a new truck. They prorated the refund on 1200 miles which is ridiculous. They supposedly applied some kind of shield on the seats and carpet that I had to pay for. I admit I "signed here" without reading but I thought I was dealing with an honest person. You don't get regular paperwork that shows what you bought. I wouldn't buy anything from Dave Cross Motors again. read more

It starts from Dave Cross all the way down to their service and parts area. All over a defective battery that they refused to replace unless they could diagnose our SUV and charge $325 to start with. This amount doesn't include the service of whatever problem they found. Even after having our battery diagnosed and charged at another car service establishment and they confirmed what we thought in the 1st place. The battery was bought 9 months ago. When I spoke with Dave Cross about replacing the battery, he told me to get out of his business and not to come back or he would call the police. HOW RUDE! I had the pleasure of working with Matt and Ken at the dealership last week. They were kind and courteous. I had previously gone to another dealership and the difference between the products, salesmen, ect. was like night and day. Matt and Ken were both so helpful and kind. He was there last week and he talked to a salesman that told him that they are having a huge sale for their 2017 Buick cars so my husband told me to just go and check it out. I went there next day and talked to a very nice man named Scotty and he answered all my questions and he was just very professional . I did not accept the trade in amount for my car so I said no and I am going to leaving. The manager talked to me and said, how much do you want for your car and I'll write it down here but the amount you will pay will not change, I just smiled because I'm trying to be calm. Worst customer service ever!! My car sat awaiting for service for FIVE days and the shuttle service advertised on their voicemail is a complete misrepresentation. I was forced to wait 8 hours to receive a ride to my vehicle and was even told I had to wait for the shuttle driver to return from lunch before I would recieve services. --Despite the fact that I had been actively communicating with their service department about the need for transportation assistance 24 hours prior my requests were disregarded until the end of the next business day. I finally received a ride at 4:00 pm but upon realizing I left my wallet in another vehicle the dealership advised I'd have to wait 20 minutes to receive a ride back to my residence. (Let's keep in mind I live 6 miles away from the dealership) After I inquired several times for contact information for the dealership manager the service manager refused stating I was only allowed to talk to him then I was repeatedly threatened to have the Sheriff's office called. After inviting them to call the Sheriff since I had committed no crime and was simply awaiting shuttle service back to my residence. (Threatening to contact authorities is typically what happens to African Americans when people try to intimidate them as if they are breaking a law by communicating dissatisfaction with services, therefore, I welcomed the opportunity the call the sheriff to mediate the issue since I had broken no laws.) This of course was an empty threat since no officers were called and then the dealership refused to provide me with transportation to my residence (where they just picked me up from) in addition to stating I was now trespassing (even though they wouldn't release my vehicle and were the reason I was stranded since they had just picked up me). The service manager then asked why I didn't call Lyft or Uber (both don't provide service to Lee's Summit regularly) and then asked why I didn't call a friend for a ride ... WOW... The manager then forced me to wait ANOTHER 30 minutes to wait for a friend to pick me up, take me 6 miles down the road and bring me back. I now the see the benefits of the luxury car services that I have been accustomed to and have traditionally experienced from Acura & BMW... I have never experienced such poor customer service in my life!! And all because they couldn't cash out on my warranty .... read more

They get you to buy the car and then basically lock the door after you drive off the lot. When buying my truck from them, I worked in the deal having my car washed for free for life just like the truck as the deal was really a little above what I wanted to pay but this and a few other things really sold the truck to me. Welp, I went to get my car washed for free and the Manager basically said the salesman can wash the car if he wants but he will not be washing the car. On top of that, which is about as shady as they come, they never fixed the running boards or the rear panel that was coming off that they promised as well. I'm not even sure 1 star is a rating I am a retired army veteran. A father of 3 girls, I pay 1700 a month in child support which I pay with my retirement. On top of working as an hvac tech, I don't have a lot of money to throw around. All of this in mind, I realize now I should have gathered more data before going to these guys, I wish to hell I checked their reviews. I WOULD HAVE GONE SOMEWHERE ELSE TO BUY. Long story short, I gave the salesman a number I could work with for payments, I let this smooth salesman move me upwards of 600. And getting gap insurance bumped me to 613 a month. I was paying 325 in a perfectly good car. Problem is I needed a truck. I HAD TOLD THEM I HAD NO MONEY TO PUT DOWN. An honest business would have told me whether or not to work in the sales tax. BUT NO. I found these guys on car guru. I had 15 other places constantly contacting me but, no I went with dave because family owned blah blah. What they didn't do was inform me of some other financial issues I was going to have to deal with. So warning you, they do not practice telling you EVERYTHING you need to know about buying or trading. They tell you just what they need to make you feel good, get the sale, and drive off the lot having signed a whole bunch of documents. Now I can't register my truck. I called them hoping they would fix it so I could get my tags. THERE RESPONSE??? was to add the sales tax and rewrite the loan so I would be paying nearly 640 F&%KtfG DOLLARS! I originally wanted to pay only 550. So they got me to spend more so their greedy money makers could enjoy a lavish lifestyle while people like me don't even get the benefit of help without trying to charge me more money. THEY SHOULD HAVE PAID FOR THIS THEMSELVES at this point. They offered me no assistance other than trying to get more money from me. I love my truck 99.999999999999% disappointed. This is probably the worst dealership experience I've ever dealt with. Their service department has no idea what the word communication is. Took my 2019 Sierra in for an oil change tire to station and possibly some additional work. After stating they wouldn't perform additional work without approval, they proceeded to do the additional work and tell me what my bill was afterwards. Also had them look at a few issues on my truck that I just bought from them used only a couple months prior. Consumed 2 qts of oil in the first 5000 miles (which is not normal for any vehicle) they said I had some oil cooler lines that was the issues and that I probably had some oil drippings where I park. My truck sits in my driveway most of the time and there isn't a drop in my driveway. The parking sensors also don't work and as soon as you put it in drive or reverse a message pops up on the dash saying "parking assist blocked see owners manual". It happens every. Sing. Time. They said nothing was wrong and the worked fine. I'm not sure how trained theirs technicians are but they seem pretty incompetent to me. They're either lying about looking into my issues or lying about actually test driving my vehicle. Either way I will not take my vehicle back to them for anything. They are just terrible. I highly recommend you go elsewhere to purchase or have a vehicle serviced. If you choose this dealership for any business get ready to have a major headache to follow. read more

Made an appointment for 8AM and arrived at 7:45. Was greeted very nicely and shown the waiting area. We have a 2007 GMC Yukon, 5.3 V8, Issue is a continuing code P300 misfire, service stability/ traction light comes on, and we wanted things checked. It took 2 and 1/2 hours then we were told that our engine had low compression on cylinder #7 and that was causing all our trouble. This meant an engine rebuild or replacement. Our Yukon has the fuel saving feature that turns off 4 cylinder's and according to other sources. 2007 Yukon misfire code These are known for issues with the special lifters for the cylinders that cut out. Those cylinders are 1 4 6 and 7 and the fix is to replace those lifters. GMC Yukon has service stability/ traction light comes on Could be bad coils on 3&7,if not can be module, try to swap coils if will show the same number that mean MODULE. If cylinder 7 is turned off the compression back through the valves would not be as high as that of other cylinders. We are very upset that it took 2 & 1/2 hours to show us that the service tech does not know enough about the 5.3 engine with the fuel saving feature. We needed wind shield wiper replaced and they were $25 each later we found at Wal-Mart the best for $13.95. We will not be back to Dave Cross as there are many other fine shops around. read more

I had the worst experience buying my new truck from Dave Cross Motor. I ordered my truck in February with the options I wanted. I put down a $1000.00 deposit. Today I went to pick it up. As I walked toward my new truck I saw one option (tunnel cover) was missing. Immediately my sales person (Ken Auch) said it was on back order but then later he said his manager forgot to order the truck with the option (tunnel cover). Then they told me it would cost me an extra $650.00 for that option to be installed which I didn't feel I should have to pay extra for it. I expressed my disappointment and asked them to give me my $1000.00 deposit back so I could buy the truck elsewhere. The salesperson, Ken told me "We are not going to give you your money back and we will sell the vehicle to somebody else because this truck is in high demand." I then told him I would like to speak with his superior. Someone who said he was the manager (I do not remember his name) came to me and told me it was my fault. And then he walked away. This was not only very unprofessional - it was downright rude. I felt though since they refused to refund my deposit I had to go thru with the purchase. I must say that the person I dealt with in the finance department was very nice & helpful. When the time came however to do the pre delivery walk around I found that the truck which was supposed to be nice and clean was dirty on the inside. Even after I asked them to clean it there was still dirt all over the door and dashboard. Then to top off the experience - they didn't even show me how to operate any of the features of my new truck. They just gave me the keys and said to call if I had any questions. I'm reading the manual to figure out just the basics and trying to learn how everything else works. I have purchased several vehicles for both myself and for my business but this ordeal with Dave Cross is the worst experience I have ever had. I was very excited to take delivery of my new truck this morning and all I got was a great disappointment and frustration. I will never buy another vehicle from this dealership. Terrible. Took in car to have the suspension fixed. Service could not find the issue but found a lot of other issues. Had the other issues fixed ($700+). Took car home and fixed the suspension problem oursleves.(dirt in the hose and a frayed end). Mechanic couldn't see that. BUT the real issue is that as I drove my car away from the dealer, my driver's side mirror was facing the ground. I corrected it and it slowly continues to fall until it faces the ground. This went on for a week. Took the car back and of course - it's not their issue!! None of the door work or under the hood repairs could have caused it. Yet it worked perfect when I dropped it off. Needless to say, I won't be buying or servicing my next car from this place. read more

I don't even know where to begin. We had such an awful experience with this dealership that I felt inclined to share my experience with others, to hopefully keep anyone else from having this done to them too. My husband's GMC Yukon started making an awful sound on his way home from work. We only work 1 mile from our house so he went straight home and waited for me to get home from work. He immediately drove it to Dave Cross. He has a personal relationship with one of the sales guys and thought that taking it to this dealership would prove to be worth the added "dealer mark-up." Well, we left it on a Friday afternoon and were told it would be Monday before they could look at it. The following week came and he received diagnosis #1, TRANSFER CASE. We approved for the work to be completed and another week later went to pick up the vehicle. Yes, it took this dealership 2 weeks to diagnosis and replace one part. We got to the dealership and didn't even get out of the parking lot before he took it right back into the service department. The vehicle was worse than when we dropped it off. They obviously didn't drive it before calling to say the work was complete and obviously misdiagnosed the problem. Another week goes by and we received diagnosis #2, FRONT DIFFERENTIAL. We approved for the work to be completed and 1 week later went to pick up the vehicle. We are now at one month without his vehicle. We got to the dealership and the vehicle was worse than when we dropped it off. Again, they obviously misdiagnosed the problem. Mind you, we have now spent $4,500 on repairs that didn't fix the problem and actually made matters worse. We are pretty upset at this point and make MULTIPLE phone calls to the service tech, service manager and director of operations inquiring on ways for them to make this right. No one wants to take any responsibility for their misdiagnosis and now says that since those two repairs didn't fix the problem, they can rule those out as the issue and "think" it has to be the transmission. Oh, and that's another $5,000 to replace! We tell them that since we've already paid $4,500 for unnecessary repairs, and we have little faith in their service team's ability to properly diagnosis the issue, we will pay $500 for them to replace the transmission (that would bring us to paying $5,000 total which is what they quoted for the transmission). They will not budge on pricing, keep making excuses for their techs and saying that the parts they replaced did in fact need to be replaced because all 3 parts went out and failed AT THE SAME TIME! The likelihood of that happening is literally impossible. We were backed into the worst position possible and have no other option than to walk away from the vehicle and start over with buying his another vehicle, which we don't have a down payment for since we've spent $4,500 in the past month. I specifically asked if they were going to take $5,000 off the trade-in value since we've already paid $4,500 for other unnecessary repairs and they said NO. However, they did just that which left us upside down in the vehicle so we were not only out $4,500, but now had negative equity and no money for a down payment. Literally, not one single person in this dealership cared at all for the situation THEY created. Had the problem been diagnosed properly from the beginning, we would have paid $5,000 for a new transmission and been done with it (if that's really what was wrong?!?!). After sharing our story with an unbelievable amount of people, we have learned this is how this dealership operates. Not one person that we have spoken to had anything positive to say about their service department. My boss took his vehicle there EIGHT times before they finally fixed the problem with his Yukon. I can't warn people enough about this dealership. Oh, and let me be clear, my husband's vehicles are meticulously maintained and serviced before it's even due so it's not like he was driving a clunker! read more

I own a Pontic. Because they no longer make Pontic's, when I had car issues it was suggested to me to take it to Dave Cross because they are a GM dealership. So the first time I took it in, was for a timing chain replacement, covered under warranty. They took over two weeks to fix my car. Finally I got it back, after calling multiple times. Then they charged me $45 dollars for "fluids". I don't mind paying for fluids if they would of actually topped everything off. They just replaced the oil they emptied out of my engine from the timing chain. Jiffy Lube takes better care of my car then that place. Second time I had issues my car was stolen my transmission was blown. Luckily I had full coverage insurance and took it back to Dave Cross dealership. Because they had already worked on my car just two weeks before. Yet again they took a very long time this time two months to get my car back to me and then when I got in my car to pick it up they hadn't even fix all the damage that had been done to the car that the insurance was helping me pay for. And now months later as I'm going to get maintenance things done on my car I am still finding things wrong that they had not put back together and my brake fluid looks like jelly. I shouldn't have to fight and beg for them to do their job. If you want to keep the business running you got to please your customers not piss them off and disappoint them. best believe I will not be going back there. read more

I recently brought my Regal CXL Turbo in with a nail in the tire. I had called ahead and the service advisor, Derek, got me right in when I arrived. I could tell you about the luxurious ambiance and how I was able to relax and watch TV in a leather club chair while I waited but the big kicker in this experience was not only did they repair my tire at a competitive price but they also surprised me by washing my car for me while I was waiting! This place is as crooked as any corner lot around KC. They list the cars online and when you get there you'll find that the car is no longer there (even though it's still listed on the site) or they will mark it down slightly and tell you it's on sale. They changed our trade in car from $11,000, to $8,000, and finally to $7,000. I wouldn't bother looking here when there are so many other dealers nearby to choose from. read more

I took my friend to buy an inexpensive used car that they had on their lot from a trade-in. Without going into every detail, she purchased the car and it turned out to have a big problem. Although the salesman had agreed we could bring it back within 2 days once we had our own mechanic look at it, we weren't sure what to expect when we brought it back, especially since it turned out the salesman quit in between. Well, I was truly impressed when we got there and spoke with Chad. He was incredibly professional and honored the salesman's promise, even though I wasn't sure from which manager the salesman had received permission to offer it. He immediately took the car back and fully refunded the purchase. Before he processed the refund we had discussed with him what a difficult time we were having finding my friend a car in her price range. So, after the refund, he actually looked up other cars of the same model on the Internet in the interest of helping us. When I explained that we were loathe to buy one from a non-dealer, though, he asked me to give him a few more minutes. He then came back with a list of other cars they had brought in on trade that were different models but in my friend's price range. Suffice it to say, we found one my friend loved - and I mean LOVED. He gave us all of the records they had on the car (showing what they had found and repaired when they took it in, pricing, etc.), and my friend test drove and bought it. I can't speak for everything else about this dealership, but I grew up working in retail family businesses. The best measure of one is often how well it treats customers when there's a problem, not just when everything's great. My friend and I had a terrible morning. We were upset about having to bring the car back, and even after Chad took it back we were stressed about having to start all over again. We left there, however, satisfied, relieved, and even happier than when we bought the first car. He took a potentially bad situation, made it better, and then earned our business a second time, selling us an even more expensive car. That's how it's done. read more

DO NOT BUY OR USE THESE GUYS FOR ANYTHING SERVICE RELATED....Took my brand new 2019 GMC Sierra LTZ in for a trailer issue. These ass-clowns lied to me for 3 days about working on the problem. Instead of fixing the issue they destroyed my entire trucks wiring harness...I mean destroyed it!!!.... When I returned to show them the damage they did, they called the Lees Summit police on me in an attempt to cover their Arsss, and I left with a damaged truck. I then went to Brogden GMC in Olathe, who looked at the damage they did and they asked me who the "hell" did this work??? Brogden then contacted GM who sent a rep, and now they are replacing the entire wiring harness on my brand new $60,000 GMC pickup. Dave Cross were supposed to do a seatbelt recall also and they never did it either. These guys over there at Dave Cross GMC are LIARS, Ass-clowns, and idiots....NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THEM EVER,EVER,EVER......ORIN. J. read more

In April 2016 about a pick up truck from them they gave me an auto check not the Carfax I went to trade it in last week and I found out that Carfax has a wreck report and auto check doesn't I feel like the dealership knew this and only gave me the auto check and me being trusting didn't think about asking for the other so in the long run buyer beware read more

I made an appointment online to later find out the appointment was already taken when I arrived. I was greeted by Brandon in services who seemed annoyed once told the issue. He stated he was booked for the day, but would work me in. The vibe I felt made me want to just come back another day, but I wasn't cause it wasn't my fault the online system booked me and didn't say the time wasn't available. I am please with the customer service of Mr. David Cross in Service area. I got my car from Robert Brogden in Olathe and they failed to tell me details about a service on my car. Mr. Cross apologized and fixed the other dealerships issues as a courtesy. I appreciate his patience, kindness, and help with my service issue. He did it all with a smile. read more

Worst experience ever. Not only did we sit there from 9:30am until 3:30 pm, they didn't communicate with each other on our deal. We traded for a truck that had a crack in the windshield. They agreed to fix it for free and we scheduled a time. They said it would be done mid day on the same day which was a Thursday. It's now Monday and we still haven't gotten out car back. We have called and they keep saying they will call us back. No one has called us back. If we could go back and not have bought from them we would've. Not worth a second of your time. Run, don't walk, far away from this dealership. read more
