    Chef's Salad

We stopped here famished after spending the day hiking the nearby falls and - as advertised - found this place located conveniently located in the middle of nowhere. ;) It was about 6:30 on a Wednesday night - we were asked if we had a reservation (we didn't) but the server found us a table for 2 in the relatively small dining area. Within minutes people started piling in ...by the time our food came there wasn't an empty seat in the house! It seems that there are a lot of regulars here - which makes sense, being out in the country. We wanted to eat light and went with salads - I ordered the Chef Salad - mine was chock full of meat (I'm not complaining!) ...really hit the spot! Our server was very friendly & attentive and made sure to get our order in ahead of the large group that had come in after us. Salads may not be culinarily exciting - but they were quite good! I really enjoyed the neighborhood atmosphere here & we were treated like family. Next time in the area - we'll be sure to stop in!

We love to visit this place when we are up at our cottage. Very friendly local crowd mixed with some hikers and out of t owners. The food is always great. In the area there are not many options but this is a great one!!

Cute little place out in the country. There is indoor, outdoor and bar seating. I had the chicken parmesan with a side of spaghetti and it was delicious! One of the best I've had. My friend had the seafood platter (it was the special), which was two or three pieces of shrimp, a few scallops and a generous piece of flounder. She gave me some to try- the flounder was little fishy for me, the scallops were pretty good but the shrimp was just ok. The menu isn't really huge but it has many items that I would like to try :) Service was great. I would return.

After our hike in Ricketts Glen, my brother and my sister-in-law decided to have dinner at the Ricketts Glen Hotel in Benton, Pennsylvania. Their sign says in the middle of nowhere and it is! You enter via a small bar area and the dining room is to the right. We were brought menus, drink orders were taken, and we ordered. I got their signature dish--Chicken à la Rickett's--sautéed chicken breasts in a sauce of prosciutto ham, mozzarella, fresh mushrooms, and sherry wine. We each got a salad as a starter and got sides of fresh steamed broccoli and in my case, French fries. The chicken was very good. The nice sauce with the chicken was good and we had ample bread that I used to soak up some of the leftover sauce. Service was excellent. Our server was a very pleasant, smiling woman who made us feel very welcome here in the middle of nowhere. Had it not been for our hike a few miles away, we would have been somewhere and would not have eaten nowhere,

My wife got the haddock topped with crab meat and old bay. Yummy

Really nice small place next to Ricketts glen. After a day of hiking, it was a nice place to sit and enjoy a good meal.

    A little souvenir!

Absolutely adored this cozy little gem that is "conveniently located in the middle of nowhere"! After a long day of hiking, it was wonderful to relax in the comfortable and clean room that Ricketts Glen had to offer. Not only did the room exceed my expectations, the dinner at the restaurant was phenomenal! The staff was extremely pleasant and I could not thank them enough for such a wonderful experience. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling in the area!

Roast Beef Rickett's. All this for $6.75

They got rid of the potato log! They didn't know what they had. By far the best thing to ever happen to a potato, now just a distant memory.

Besides the staple menu, there was a rotating menu featuring a soup, mussel dish, flatbread, burger, and pasta. The food took some time to come out, and everything was rather bland across the board. The interior was decorated nicely for the holidays though. *Hummus Platter: a huge shareable for $10. The crispy naan resembled the Costco version but fried. The naan itself worked well as a base for the hummus, although the hummus was neither smooth nor flavorful. There was no fragrance from the chickpeas, and it tasted rather unseasoned. The selection of peppers, carrots, and cucumbers was decent. *Garlic Butter Mussels: their monthly mussel dish. The mussels were cooked well and coated in a one dimensional sauce. The sweet wine was cooked down with lots of garlic, while the butter was subtle. I wished there had been a bit more toasted baguette to balance the one pound of seafood. Note there is a 3% credit card surcharge. I could not find this listed on their menu and but I saw the charge on my receipt. I enjoyed the few beers I had, and the food was acceptable for a bar. With some improvement to the flavors, this could be a worthwhile visit for a bite and a drink.

The fries were crispy on the outside but still fluffy on the inside. They were dry service was good not many people in the restaurant for lunch. It was a Tavern type of decor. My only issue was the beer cheese. It tasted too much like beer. The beer flavor was definitely over powering. The other special sauce wasn't great but it wasn't bad either. A typical thousand island type of sauce. But over all it was pretty solid. I would comeback and try something else.

I stumbled across The Farmer's Table last night on yelp, and perused through the breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. I was intrigued! So tonight, I took a trip to Blossburg, and was impressed by the restaurant's cleanliness, the friendly staff, and the atmosphere that I would describe as modern farm- chic. The food- fresh and delicious! There were several options on the menu....it was difficult to decide! I went with the almond, cranberry, grilled chicken salad with a balsamic vinaigrette- the dish that initially caught my eye. My guest ordered a ribeye steak and was impressed by its taste and overall quality! If you are passing through Blossburg, or simply wish to support a small business, please stop by The Farmer's Table and give it a taste!

This is not going to be an easy review to write. I have so many conflicting thoughts and…read morefeelings... reviewing a restaurant should never be this dramatic! Seriously though... speaking as someone who was a partner in two restaurants in NYC for 4 years, who does not claim to "know it all" but knows some tricks of the trade... I think they've got great potential and would like to share my thoughts with them. Saying they've "got potential" probably come across as smug, obnoxious, and ridiculous, especially because they've got like 4.6 stars here on Yelp! And that's mainly why I found myself here... Staying in Mansfield for the night, I looked up restaurants that were enroute to our hotel. Some of them had 3 or 3.5 stars and I said "no way." But 4.6 stars with as many reviews as The Farmer's Table has? Absolutely! The atmosphere is a little bit diner but cozy enough and has the farm as a theme. There are some cool design elements, like the steel ceiling, the tables... The bathroom was clean and well stocked, and that's a really good sign that the place is sanitary and organized. The waitress was really, really nice... and we loved that we were in this tiny little town and yet she had this really cool, funky image. Great fingernails! I'm jealous! A tip for her to make service even better... think about sequence of service. Think about the extras that the customer will want with the specific thing they ordered so that they won't have to bother you. If they order something with fries, definitely put ketchup on their table, and do it before the food is delivered. There were also a lot of empty tables with salt shakers, but it's had none. Some customers notice these little things and appreciate a server who anticipates their needs. On the other hand, maybe she was just really slammed busy before we got there. My wife and I waited like 2 minutes for her to take my order and she apologized profusely for having us wait so long for her. I was like, "am I in Manhattan or wut???" She was on point, generally easy to find when we needed her, she was never trying to hide from customers (a huge no-no) and very well-intentioned. Definitely a keeper. The food though... I was surprised we didn't like it very much being the reviews were so good. When I got the check to pay, I asked the server what their most beloved and popular dishes are. She said that ppl order a lot of the prime rib sandwich, and also the cat fish. Incidentally, I had ordered the prime rib sandwich, and my wife had the breaded cat fish. I was expecting a lot more meat on my sandwich, and the bun was just a regular burger bun, but it was ok. It came with 3 slices of pickle and cost $11.90. I was still hungry after that so I finished my wife's catfish 'cuz she gets full easily. I liked the catfish more, but neither of us thought it was anything special. What was special were the prices. The catfish included 2 sides, and it cost less than $14. Being from NYC, it was so refreshing to see pricing that reminded me of year 2000! A burger for $7.85 that's not Burger King? Incredible! But the cole slaw... ewww. I didn't hate it, but I kind of forced myself to eat it even though it had a strange flavor. The sweet potato fries were ok. Everything was basically O.K. I imagine that, if I lived there, I would go pretty regularly cuz it's probably the best thing the neighborhood has in a few square miles, and it's easier and more fun than cooking at home (if you're not a cook and you're busy at work). But I think that some improvement in the food could make the place more of a destination. And a destination could actually bring more business to the surrounding businesses! I can understand if the townspeople want very basic food there, but at least offer a few specials that are fancier, better ingredients, something that stands out and is memorable. I know I'm spoiled coming from NYC... a 4.6 star review in places like Manhattan are different than a 4.6 star review in a small town. But this place has some nice things about it. Take it all the way!
