This is an incredibly busy railway station, especially a peak time, namely because pretty much every train coming in from, or going to, the Eastern Suburbs stops here. It is actually rather convenient in a way since it allows you to change trains where necessary, especially to avoid the crush at the stations in the city. Mind you, as a railway station, he really is in need for a complete makeover because it does happen to be incredibly grotty. read more

I get out at Richmond Station - it is not a pleasant place to be so I leave as quickly possible. The building is from some part of the 20th century but it is so ugly that who cares. Apart from the main entrance there is a long tunnels leading to windy platforms above and another entrance. At the main entrance there is a ticket booth and a hole in the wall, fast food stall at the station - I have learnt to avoid its bland food, except in moments of desperation. There are public toilets in the station and again using those would be motivated by desperation. The station is staffed and you can buy your tickets from a person or a machine and the tickets will be check at the gates. read more

Yes, the amenities at Richmond Railway station are fairly awful. The food is terrible, the loos unhygenic. It's true, too, that I've seen more nasty goings on at that station than probably any other (not too many though - I've generally found Melbourne to be fairly safe). Still, I've stood on the platform there, cold Melbourne wind blowing past, my life turned to absolute slurry, feeling like my only solution was to quit, to leave the city and look for a good start someplace else. Then I've looked out across the Punt Rd traffic and the MCG towards the glow of the city lights, and I've decided to stick it out in Melbourne. read more

Went there to have an Australia Day breakfast with my hubby and I was happy with the coffee only. The scrambled eggs on toast was one thin slice of sourdough with unmixed and sloppy scrambled egg. The cost was $9.00 for a serve. The croissant was too crispy, overdone and it was extremely messy to eat. Waitress came over and asked if anything was wrong with the food and I explained in a nice manner, why the food was not eaten. Waitress then said, ok, I will pass that on. We just paid for the inedible rubbish and left and will never go there again. I felt like I was ripped off, it was poor quality food. read more
