Our new family member, that we found with the help of Richardson Rescue.

I am giving five stars to Richardson Rescue because they helped us find a new family member and because they care. They care for the animals that are with them, the families that visit looking for a rescue animal, and the future of adoption so that it will work the best for the animals and their people. Furthermore, as a biologist and zoologist, I left with an extremely positive about their facilities and their adoption system. All animals I met were well and the staff knew everything about each animal.

I adopted my Murphy around 11 years ago now.( Formally know as Lucky Man) He has been the best boy ever. Laura helped me when I adopted him. I am so grateful for her and of course Murphy. I adopted a senior dog a year later. (Jasmine) she was super sweet and loving. She is in heaven now, but I would have definitely gotten her if I had it all to do over. They are the greatest place ever.

After our dog Lexi passed in December due to old age, we began looking for a new friend in late January/early February. I saw a post from Richardson Rescue of a beautiful but scared-looking mama and a large litter of puppies. Apparently the owner gave them all to Richardson Rescue after another dog on the property killed some of the puppies, only a few days old. I emailed and applied right away, telling them I was happy to wait but I hoped to be considered when the time was right. A month later, I got a call and I was able to visit the puppies and meet my new friend. I am thankful for Richardson Rescue's care for the pups and their mom, and their efforts to place all of their dogs in loving homes.

Warm, caring and kind hearted group of people helping animals in needs of human help to survive. I was very fortunate to have adapted a Chihuahua dog from this rescue. Very responsive with communication and making sure that I have enough information in the dog and to get to their location, was driving from Durham NC. Helped me so the dog feels comfortable leaving with me. I would highly recommend this rescue if you are considering adapting.

They state on the website adoptions based on donations and then when the papers are signed and the puppy is picked out, they tell you it will be $400-600 depending on the breed. These are strays and drop offs of mixed breed. Then after I adopted my dog, I found out that she didn't get wormed like she should have and she ended up in the hospital getting IV fluids, extra worming meds, and nausea meds because she was so sick and quit eating. They were disorganized and tried to blame it on the owner being "out of sorts". There were dogs running around in rooms with no supervision, dogs in kennels in the rain with no supervision, they also tried to "sell" me another large dog for another $300 since I already paid $400 for a puppy since they usually get $600 for a large breed dog. Puppies were in a small gate, covered in poop, only fed twice a day (830 and 230) her words. They had already adopted out their mom and the pups were only 6 weeks old. Only one worker besides the owner and her son for all those dogs. It was crowded and dirty.

Adopted our new little chihuahua this week and are in love. So impressed with how much Richardson Rescue advocates and protects these little guys and makes sure they are going to the right Home. They are in the business of match making. Thank you, Laura, for the thorough report and communication for Tito's care!

They were able to give us many options from a local kill shelter (without us feeling pressured- really!) and then followed through with all the information we could ask for about the dogs we were interested in. Jillian was constantly available and willing to work with us when it came to transportation for our new pup. We received constant updates with pictures from both Jillian and Chad, which made us feel included through the entire adoption process; from them pulling him out from the kill shelter and then rehabilitating him until we were able to adopt. We got constant training updates so we felt ready and prepared for him when we brought him home. He is already settling in nicely, alive and happy! Thank you so much!!

She stated that she gave it to her board members, and they do not think I was a good fit for their program at all. My heart was a broke at that point.Because I expected to bring a dog home. The next day.. This woman ghosted me for several days and did not answer me back when I kept asking questions that anyone else would ask before purchasing a dog. She got very defensive, and I could tell, by the way, she was texting me that she was upset when I asked if that was her final price. That the dog would cost.. At that point, the conversation was null and void. She never answered me back until I told her. I was coming to get the dog the following day. As we discussed, and she sent me that text message saying, I was not a candidate. I asked her.Was it because I told you early on in our conversation that I was a cancer patient.. My dog has just passed away in march of 2024.. I was looking for obviously another companion. I'm home all day and I could give this dog a very loving home as we did.Our other dachshins, we had in the past.. So to do something like that the day before, I'm supposed to pick up the dog. Is very unprofessional. I would not recommend this company at all.

When we walked ( with donations) Gina greeted us, and invited us in for a tour and some play time with the dogs. Everything is as tidy and neat as possible. I have worked with many rescues, but this is different because every single animal is treated well, socialized, and had a feeling of home during their stay. I would 100% recommend this rescue to anybody, whether they are adopting, donating, or volunteering.

But this time it was different. You had to get on a wait list to be let in the room, and they watch you the entire time, and you have to commit to adopting in order to interact with the cats and dogs, which is so much pressure. I was told that they had to do it this way because the old way was stressing the animals out, because people had unruly children... I can see it both ways, but I was selfish in the moment and just wanted to cuddle some cuteness. I wish people would consider these things when they go places with their children, teach your kids how to properly interact with animals, and respect their space. That's how I teach my son, I point out the animals social cues to him, I tell him when to pull back if the animal is getting over simulated. We've never had an issue, we always enjoy our visits with our furry friends and it's always a great time! So, I hate that a boundary had to be set, most people are looking for their next pet and may not be ready to commit in that moment, had I known this prior to coming we would have not come at all. The facility is clean, but the minute you walk in to where the animals are being kept, you are slapped in the face with a really pungent smell... Some dogs had feces in the spaces that they were being kept in, which was really sad. Dogs are much messier than cats so I know it happens. Our visit this time around wasn't as pleasant, because of the changes. But the staff were super nice and attentive.
