Jim came out to give a quote and was very knowledgeable. There was a leak and they were able to come out quickly and replace the roof. Workers showed up on time and finished the same day. Everything was cleaned up properly and roof looks great. Estimate was very reasonable so give them a call if you need roofing repairs/replacement. read more

Flawless start to finish. Jim is a pretty solid guy. Ten out of ten would recommend. ..............

The team did an amazing job on our house roofing, including new gutter guards! Quick cleanup as well!

Highly recommend calling Jim for any roofing needs! Not only is the job quality extremely well done (and fast!) but Jim takes the time to educate you, work with you and provide reasonable estimates. BEWARE- Please note that this company will not honor work performed by Richards roofing. This was a 7 year old roof with a significant leak. When I reached out to Richards, which is now Richards and Swift, I did not receive a return call from Jim Swift. read more

Original review: Had Dale Richards do this roof 5.5 years ago. Had a leak since day 1, and tried multiple times to get them to fix it. Now that it's Richards & Swift, Mr. Swift states he will not honor my warranty. Had to pay another company come and fix it right. They reported nails from the old roof causing leaks as well as a complete failure to flash in these skylights. All they did in the past was pour on caulk. ***************************** Response to owner from first review: First, Mr. Swift; my condolences on the loss of your business partner and friend. Based on your yelp reviews, you two worked together for a long time. Second, using the death of your business partner as an excuse to remove liability for warranty work is a new low. I think this will tell everyone what they need to know about your commitment to your customers. read more

This company is considered the best in its price range. They worked fast and had a lot of people. But getting them to clean up after themselves was a battle. I have muscular dystrophy and can't pick up after them. I called several times. They left debris in my yard. They left materials in my yard. They used my patio furniture to stand on and left mud on the furniture. I had to throw away my wicker set because they stood on it and their feet went through the furniture then they just walked away. There are still hundreds of nails on the roof of the garage and I cannot get them since I am disabled read more

This company was selected to replace my roof. To my peril, I signed their standard contract. It was not cheap. Repairs were needed this company would not cover, and this is a quote from the manager present, "Our roofer had to replace an entire panel under the shingles and then re-roofed that section. He said the previous roof compay used the cheapest material ever, not even plywood board quality. We may run into other panels popping up in the future." I work too hard for my money to deal with shoddy workmanship and shady contractors. The guy on the phone said he would not honor his warranty. When I signed that contract, I was busy and one of the managers came to my office to obtain a signature. That itself is a red flag. I wished someone had warned me. And check out that BBB listing, there are 2.....look for the one with the complaint. Any firm that has 2 listings is already suspect. read more

When we first met Jim from this company..our impression of him and his presentation and expertise was great. The roofers came out and did what we thought was an excellent job...until it rained...We have skylights in our home. They were not placed back properly in their original position. It literally rained in my kitchen..The company sent someone back out to place the skylight in its original place and someone to repair and paint damaged kitchen ceiling. Then it rained again..the skylight that was leaking, leading us to replace the roof is now leaking again. This is ridiculous! I have never been so disgusted and disappointed in a company. We are now trying to reach them to come out and fix the problem... voicemail..voicemail..voicemail...If something is not done soon we are going to seek legal action! I do not recommend this company!! read more

Had a full roof put on by another company and it leaked within 30 days. They fixed it, but 6 years later, it leaked again and the original company wouldn't honor their warranty. They needed to get some specialists out for the problem and I didn't hear from them for weeks. I called Richards and they came out that afternoon, gave me an estimate and a date that they could do the work. Great! Then the supervisor called and asked if they could come out in a couple of days because we were expecting storms and he didn't want the leak to make a bigger mess. Nice! They fixed the leak and the roof is better than new. I'd highly recommend this company. They were honest and actually cared about the job. read more

A section of shingles blew off our roof this spring. I happened to be driving behind a Richards & Swift Roofing truck on Thursday afternoon and called the number on the truck. Jim, immediately returned my call. The next day Alex came by and gave us a very reasonable estimate. I called first thing Monday morning to schedule my repair. My roof was fixed by the end of the day! Amazingly fast service! Super friendly. I highly recommend these guys! read more

Roof Removal and Installation and Miscellaneous Items Contacted Jim for a quote. Had many questions and miscellaneous items that needed to be done (sheet metal fixed, couple flat epdm roof spots re-done, leak solved, sheet metal painted, etc); also had to work job around carpenter. Jim very responsive, had to have several discussions, got all questions answered, was a very reassuring experience. Job was done earlier than scheduled and within time estimated. Work was well done and all the miscellaneous extra items were taken care of. The entire job and all the additional items were reasonably priced. I highly recommend Richards Roofing! read more

Save your time and money. Look else where. When they where done I spent 2 hours outside picking up nails because they didn't do a clean up. They came back the next day for money and my husband had to get up on the roof to show what was wrong. They "fixed" what was wrong but still a lot of issues. Now noticing "screw pops" in our ceiling along with a crack. Also every time the owner left the employees sat down to take a break on my patio set leaving their cigarette butts everywhere. We have a small roof what should have been done by noon if they would have showed up at 7:30 instead of a half hour late wasn't done until after 6 at night. read more

Do not honor their warranty-at least not anymore. I've put 4 1/2 roofs (one was a patch up job that they'd done previously) with Richards, but never again. 25 years ago we had them do a home in Royal Oak and the owner at that time was a straight-shooter. He did what he promised and did a good job. Since then, I had them do two homes in Troy and one more in Sterling Heights. The last one had leak issues after several years and we called them back on warranty. The new owner (last guy sold the business) would not honor the warranty, he wanted more money to do the work. This business is way to competitive to put up with that nonsense. I will never patronize Richards again and would advise others to look elsewhere. read more

After finding a leak in our old roof, we started to shop around for someone to either repair or replace the roof. Richards & Swift Roofing was able to come out the next day to give an estimate. Alex, their representative, was quick but still provided detailed information about the proposed job, the current condition of our roof, and the provided quote. The company's quick customer service was appreciated, especially given our active leak. We are still deciding who to use for the replacement of our full roof, but we are strongly considering Richards & Swift Roofing, particularly given their quick response in an emergency situation and excellent customer service. I strongly encourage you to consider Richards & Swift Roofing for your work. read more

I love my new roof; Richards Roofing had the best price and best guarantee/warranty around. Jim the salesperson was super kind, HONEST, and accommodating to my needs and schedule. The crew was fantastic, they left my property clean of nails and debris. I got other quotes prior to Richards which only made my decision easier. I will later post pictures, it is a beautiful roof and the last one I will need on my home! read more

Richard's Roofing was recommended by our realtor after my wife and I found water leaking behind our daughter's wall. A roof inspector told us the best course of action would be to rip up the old roof and completely redo it, since water could have been leaking in from multiple places and he found numerous other issues with the roof. We got quotes from two different roofers. Richard's Roofing (Jim) was great. They showed up the next day after I called with samples of what they would be putting down on the roof, understood our concerns about mold/rot damage and best of all, we were scheduled in as an "emergency" case and got a new roof within a week of signing the contract. The crew showed up at 7:30 am and didn't stop till 6 pm when the job was done. The crew leader (Justin) was courteous and took time to walk around with me and explain what they'd be doing and took care of the problem spots I pointed out to him. The new roof looks great and isn't leaking! read more

Richard's just completed my roof, and did a really amazing job. the team worked very efficiently, and they were very considerate of me and my dogs as they worked. As for the previous reviews that said they didn't clean up after themselves, i would have to say that they must have taken those reviews to heart, because they did a stellar job cleaning up afterwards. The entire process was completely painless and easy, with great communication. From meeting with Jim to pick a color and get a price, to scheduling, to completion, Richard's Roofing was extremely professional, efficient, and, oh, let's not forget, affordable! I highly recommend this company! read more

I give up, I guess if you don't have a big house or a ton of money, the company doesn't care if your roof leaks, 1o years of my roof leaking and half dozen tries for them to correct a poor installation and it still leaks. I paid for the job in full the day it was complete and my roof has leaked ever since. Jim has given me the run around over and over until the warranty ran out, Dale Richards told me that the vents that were installed in several properties are leaking and he is trying to get the company to do something, but my roof is still leaking and nothing is being done. I am just going to pay someone to fix it properly and not have worry every time it rains. Save yourself the headache and money read more

I did not want to have to do this but Richards Roofing has left me no choice. It's been 1 year since I hired them to do a complete tear off and re-shingle my colonial in Troy. At the time it seemed to be an efficient team and quite frankly seemed to be doing ,what I thought, was a good job.Being it was January when the job was finished I made the mistake of not going out on roof and taking a look. The existing flashing where the 2nd story meets the 1st story garage roof and porch roof had been snipped/cut off and NOT replaced,I have talked to Dale(owner) numerous times this past year and each time it's been I'll have somebody over in 2 weeks. As of today 12-11-2018 it has NOT been repaired. I like trying to do business with local stores, contractors etc. They quoted me a good price and were local ! It now leaves me concerned about the lengthy warranty they provide(at time of sale) if they won't fix a known repair that could possibly lead to leaks in the future. Just beware and take a look at finished job BEFORE they leave. read more
