Update review : 6/16/2020 Extremely Happy Dr. Cheung is in office during this pandemic. His office is following protocol to ensure the safety of not only his staff members but his patients as well. You're only allowed two people in the waiting room at a time. You must wash your hands once coming in and every appointment is spaced out with enough time to disinfect the rooms after each patient. I had extremely severe neck, shoulder, an upper back pain on Friday and messaged doctor via yelp to see if he can by any chance squeeze me in, an so thankful that he did the same day. Within less than an hour I was in the office getting my treatment and going in today for my follow up. Thanks doc and to the office. One year ago: Absolutely the best chiropractor I think I will ever come across. The staff to begin, is extremely sweet. They are great with appointments and reminders which I love with my busy schedule, they always accommodate. As for Dr. Cheung, extremely caring and attentive. It may have been the great reviews about Dr. Cheung's chiropractic services here on Yelp that made me call/txt for a Saturday appt when I was in a lot of pain and knew I needed an adjustment. Right from the start, I felt heard, cared for, and humanized. And who knew that in Aug 2023, I was to begin a 4-month diagnostic and treatment journey w Dr. Cheung as well as acupuncture, PT, and visits w a spine center to figure out why my left leg was consistently going numb and such intense dull pains throughout, and why swimming was near impossible. Been in a car accident? Is the case still pending because the police report hasn't been released? Thinking of coming here with an accident lien? Well...DON'T. This was my first accident and I had so many questions about my injuries but he hurried through each session so I didn't really have an opening to ask him anything. I felt like his goal was to get me out the door in under 30mins until he knew how much he'd get paid. On my first visit, he kept asking about my policy and the other guy's policy. Sorry, I was the passenger and I don't know all the details. Then he starts grilling me on my lawyer and how some lawyers are "aggressive" and he's not into that sketchy business. I don't know, the nurse in urgent care gave me the lawyer's card because she was represented by him and felt he took care of everything and was always available for her questions. He asked where the accident happened and made a comment about waiting forever for the police report since it'd be LAPD. After assessing me, he told me he wanted to schedule me for an MRI and would like to see the xrays that I had gotten after the accident. After applying a topical to my knee and putting on some kinesthetic tape, I was good to go. Oh hmmm, guess he forgot about getting my signature for my xrays. I walked out and the receptionist asked when I'd like to come back...oh ummmm Cheung never told me the frequency I should be coming in? We scheduled some date in the future. Okay, thanks. My 2nd visit consisted of him mostly telling me that my lawyer needs to call him back. When he was done with that, he told me to lay down, put electrodes on my knee, asked if I felt it, and then left the room when I said yes. He came back 10-15mins later and asked how I felt, I told him one of the right electrodes burned painfully. He told me he doesn't know which one it was (there were 4 total, 2 on the right and 2 on the left) so he turned down the power and asked how I felt. I told him it still hurt and he told me of course it'll hurt, there's been trauma and left the room. A few minutes later, he's back and off comes the electrodes and he proceeds to pop my neck. Asked if that felt better, and I told him no, it felt more stiff now. Ignores me, applies a topical on my knee, and told me to tell my lawyer to call him back as he sent me out of the room. I did not schedule a return appointment. I reached out to my lawyer and was explained to that everything is a process and that we needed to wait for the other insurance company before we could get the MRIs. Okay, that was sensible on Cheung's part, so I wouldn't rack up the medical bills. I then asked my case manager if viewing my xrays would've been free, since I had already paid for them. She confirmed Cheung would only have needed my signature to view the xrays. So...thanks for taking care of me Dr. Cheung...? Once I found out from my lawyer that I could switch chiropractors, I immediately let Cheung's office know I wouldn't be returning! I am currently VERY happy as Dr. Kressey's patient. Also, on first assessment, Dr. Kressey spent a full HOUR letting me ask him as many questions as I had and calming my fears about everything. He even explained why Cheung didn't order the MRI yet, though he didn't have an answer about the xray... ps...after Cheung popped my neck, I spent that whole weekend with a very stiff neck and limited movement. This is an update since my first review. I got into another car accident because folks out there seem to have a pattern of rear ending me or running stop signs, and the latter is the reason why I went back to see Dr. Cheung, his associated Dr. Kang, and their excellent staff. It was a sad reason that sent me back, but I was glad to visit the good Doctor for his services again because I was suffering from prolonged neck and back pain. After months of consistently visiting his office, my neck and back are finally back in full swing, and hopefully the next time I visit, it will not necessarily be due to another car accident. If you have not visited Dr. Cheung's office, I encourage folks to stop by for back and neck recovery needs. The variety of therapies, adjustments, and the overall positive attitude for the staff gave me hope that my back and neck were going to be back to normal eventually (with a lot of patience and dedication to repeat visits). It should be noted that it is going to take a lot of time and consistency to get everything back into shape regardless of the extent of one's injuries or conditions, so don't expect a full recovery after only a handful of visits. But if you're doing your part in addition to getting treatment, you'll find Dr. Cheung's chiropractic services to be of great help toward recovery. read more

He gave me some stretches and helped me determine the best course of action for rehabbing my shoulder's weak points. Once I started to improve, we started spreading out my appointments which was helpful because I'm paying out of pocket and made me feel like it's patient-focused care, not bottom-line care. He's efficient and knowledgeable, and I really appreciate the time he takes to explain what he's doing as well as why he's doing it. I have been going to Dr. Cheung since last August after an auto accident where I was rear ended by a pick up truck. My car was totaled and I suffered a lot of pain to my neck and to my lower back. I was fortunate to have been referred to Dr. Cheung, who quickly got me treatments and for pain management. In the beginning, I had such difficulties even turning to my side when sleeping. I found Dr. Cheung during the pandemic, after I hadn't been to a chiropractor in a year and a half and my back was wrecked from working at my dining table. He's great for maintenance and recommends really helpful stretches and ways to keep your back loose, but he's also amazing when you have a more acute injury. I pulled my shoulder once, and he dug in with the scraper tool and then taped it up. It hurt immensely while he did it, but felt so much better the next day. Like the hardheaded person I am, I suffered for a month before visiting my doctor for a referral to a chiropractor. Dr Cheung was recommended to me and I'm quite pleased with the results I have received. It all started with pulling my lower back while on a mini vacation. This turned into a sciatic issue where the pain traveled down my entire left leg. The pain was immense where I could barely walk and had to take Advil every 4 hours just to function. What I liked about Dr Cheung is when he first started treating me, he took it slowly which allowed my body to accept the adjustment and heal. I'm grateful I found Dr. Cheung. A repetitive motion injury caused by posture, use of the mouse, and stress tension left me in so much pain I couldn't move my right arm. I even had to sit upright so I could sleep at night. Dr. Cheung gave me an adjustment and a plan that slowly introduced new stretches every week. Within the first week I could sleep again. I am a veteran who got out of The Marines back in 2002 with a service connected disability for my lower back. I have been dealing with the VA since 2002 for my back with numerous visits, medications and treatment which resulted in poor results, which isn't surprising. But to my surprise the VA now allows chiropractic service from a private practice, which brings me to my review. Dr Cheung and his team from the beginning have been helping me since day one. When I found out that the VA will cover treatment from a private practice I reached out to Dr Cheung's office and they gave the info on how to start the process to get treatment. They gave accurate and great info which allowed me to get the VA to approve treatment with Dr Cheung. Now for my treatment with Dr Cheung. I cannot praise him and his team enough. Dr. Cheung did an amazing job treating my injuries. I was suffering from extreme tightness in my shoulder and tingling/numbness shooting down my arm due to lifting heavy furniture. This is why I'm very glad I went to Dr. Cheung. Not only is he very knowledgeable as a Chiropractor, but he also is amazing with sports injuries. He performed many different treatments over 4 visits ranging from: soft tissue manipulation, massage gun, heating pads, as well as a super deep scraping massage that really helped open up my tight muscles.
