My initial main with Dr. D. (Setareh Derakhshan) was a phenomenal visit. From the thorough questions that were asked in detail and her calm demeanor really had me feeling super comfortable and familiar. My achy neck, lower back and tight right hip that I've dealt with off and on since 2020, finally got me to use my insurance and handle the annoying aches. Dr D. Also offer x-rays, a huge plus for me. I love evidence based treatments to help me visually see my progress with the gradual corrections made with each visit. The office has a 12 month program to help with a Nervous System Reset that offers a on the house X-rays to check for improvements. Started off great but after I declined wanting to spend $4,000 on a wellness package with Dr. Monica to help heal my pain, I felt cast out. The next 3 appointments I had to wait over 45 minutes to be seen and kept getting shuffled around from room to room. When Dr. Monica would come in she would make comments like "patients want help in healing but they don't actually want to make the investment" and this would be how she would enter the room to me. Not asking how I was or a happy welcomed greeting but more of an afterthought or a drag to have to see a patient who didn't want to spend a fortune on care. It was very unprofessional. She would adjust me and talk about how I "knew what to do to get better" and that she would be "there when you're read" I guess to really take it seriously. It was incredibly frustrating and triggered alot of emotional and physical stress for me. Especially after researching and trying to find a good fit for a pracitioner it was a huge blow to be neglected like that. No one should feel pressured to do anything and that has nothing to do with how serious their pain is and wanting help. I was clearly not a priority and Dr. Monica and the staff were not in the business of actually helping people. At my last appointment she asked what we were working on, as if it was my job to lead her. I found this place on Zocdoc and was supposed to be paired with the lead physician Dr. D. I have been adjusted by Dr. D, Dr Chiang (Claremont office), and I also took advantage of their medical massage therapist. What a lucky find, I searched for a local chiropractor that was covered by my health insurance plan and Your Health in Motion popped up as my first choice. They were able to accommodate me quickly and verified my insurance plan and I was indeed covered. The staff is really helpful and genuinely nice! I chose this location based upon yelp reviews and convenience of location. I am usually speculative when being treated by new practitioners because we all can agree, we are used to a certain standard of care and anything below that would deter us from ever returning. With that in mind, when I first met Dr D, she explained her unconventional approach of Chiropractic medicine which kept me open minded to accepting treatment from her. From my experience, when treated by specialists, we are only being treated specifically for the problem we came in for. This was more than just chiropractic care. It was a more holistic approach which was also addressing the mind; Dr D's approach allowed you to enter a more relaxed mental state. As treatments continued I had greater confidence in Dr D's approach and care. When she recommended the massage therapy session I accepted and met with Esther. I will repeat this part because it makes a big difference to your outlook of progress...I was open minded to the approach and accepting of the therapy. My first session with Esther was nothing short of phenomenal. Why? Because it wasn't a conventional massage therapy session. Now I can not give all the details away but be it known, it was somewhat transformative not only for the body but also of the mind. My body showed "resistance" as quoted by Esther, but she had a firm yet almost maternal touch. There definitely was care and attention put and she paid attention to how my body reacted. In the end of therapy I felt my body almost "vibrating" and it took some time to register what I had experienced. Again all of this that I experienced was only possibly when I approached this with an open mind. I would highly suggest Dr D for your spinal care and Esther for massage therapy . They also taught me that the length of my legs are uneven, which was why my knee was hurting when I went running. I am disappointed with this chiropractor on a few different levels. I just learned they billed my insurance, after telling me that my insurance would not be accepted and I needed to pay the entire $150 out of pocket. This is not what they told me, I will be challenging this claim. Secondly i wasn't very impressed with their quality of care. It explicitly said on the form that my initial consultation would be an hour and a half. But i timed it, and it was actually right at 55 minutes, and at the end of appt they had a few people in the waiting room that were clearly waiting for the room i was in, so it felt very rushed at the end, and i didn't even get all my questions answered. The treatment itself was okay. My back did feel better after the appointment. But I will not be going back to this place, and I would not recommend it. read more

January 2017 began with chronic sciatic and neck pain. I spent the next 3 months with 4 different chiropractors coupled with acupuncture and a major diet clean up in hopes for some relief. Dr. D, can't say thank you enough! My back was affected by lifting at work and home. I couldn't move my neck, could sleep couldn't even sit. In 1 treatment I could move my neck, lift my arm. My second treatment my neck was great but still feeling achey. Thanks to the first treatment the swelling went down and you could see my RIB was poking out. Called to get information before scheduling an appointment. Asked the lady that answered the phone if they took Kaiser insurance and she said no but they offer a discount for Kaiser members. I said okay how much is the discount? She said the adjustments are $70 but if you have Kaiser it's $45. I thought to myself that's not bad especially because I'm in pain and have been trying to find a good chiropractor. I then ask do they offer the Y-strap adjustment she said she doesn't know what that is. Okay... I then asked a few questions about the massage services they offer because I was interested in both. She gave me prices and then I asked when is the next available? We have this coming Thursday available. I'm like okay perfect! Then she says oh but the first appointment is $150 then after that it'll be $45. Ummmmm don't you think you should have said that when you gave me the pricing in the beginning?!
