I've had scoliosis and back pain since high school. I went to a chiropractor a few times but it has been at least 10 years since. Ok. Where do I start? I dont think I have enough words to explain how amazing, professional, knowledgeable, intuitive and just plain sweet Dr. Hem is. I came to Dr. Hem for routine chiropractic care, then I got pregnant and soon found that Dr. Hem was a specialist in prenatal, postpartum, Pediatric care among the other specialties of hers. I went to Dr. Hem weekly throughout my pregnancy and she truly helped me have a pain free and happy pregnancy. When I went into labor ie, after my water broke, I happened to be with Dr. Hem and she had adjusted me including my pelvic and pubic bone my spine, hips etc all to be in perfect alignment to push out my baby. Dr. Hem's words were "this is going to go fast!" She was right I didnt need an epidural and my labor was max 8 hours. This is my first child as well btw. After my baby was released from the hospital at 3 days old the first place we went before going home was to Dr. Hem. Dr. Hem adjusted me as the start of my postpartum wellness and my little baby got his first adjustment! My husband and I trust Dr. Hem with our baby, so that should say a lot in terms of how wonderful Dr. Hem is. Her care is very holistic, she doesn't treat your symptoms alone she looks at it as a full picture and gives great suggestions as to what you can change in other areas of your lifestyle to support a healthier you! I believe that the preventive pain medicine is the best way to help you have a good quality standard of living. I went to see Dr. Hem for preventive pain back care. You see, I am active five days a week. I lift three times a week and rock climb at a gym two times a week. As much as I am active, I do not stretch or do TLC to my muscles and joints as I should. I started to discover that I had issues recovering as quickly as I did before and was experiencing mild pain in my mid to lower back areas. After researching that chiropractic care is one of the best ways to prevent pain for athletes, I went to Dr. Hem. If I could describe her care, it would be empathic and professional. She took her time to listen to my concerns and the areas where I felt were tight. She went in details ways I could help prevent and how my treatment would help my performance and prevent any more pain. I really like when doctors explain the why. Going to see Dr. Hem has been the best thing I could do for myself. I went because I've been having really painful back spasms. From the first treatment, I instantly noticed a difference and have been going back to see her weekly ever since. She's super helpful in describing her treatment, really knows her stuff, and doesn't try to force you to pay for unnecessary treatments. She's different than other chiropractors because she does a lot of treatments in addition to adjustments (i.e. cracking the back).
