Time to find a new doctor. Once again I schedule an early morning appointment. The second one of…read morethe day was open when I made it (first of the day is 9am) for 9:15. I arrive a couple minutes early to find the waiting room already full and a short line to check in which results in the computer showing me as getting there late. Now, mind you, I'm the second scheduled patient of the day yet the waiting room is full. After I got checked in I took a seat expecting I'd be heading back very soon. 9:20.... 9:30....9:45...... at 9:50 I was taken back, vitals taken then left to sit until 10:00.... 10:10.....10:15. ONE HOUR AFTER MY SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT TIME I HAD YET TO SEE THE DOCTOR. I left. Very angry. I have a job and a life. This is not the first time this has happened. I've also had to sit for an hour when I was the FIRST appointment. If you have anything else to do with your life aside from sitting waiting on a doctor then find a different practice. These people are habitually late regardless of when you make your appointment. I've never ever been seen any sooner than 30 minutes after my scheduled appointment time. This one sucks at patient relations. It goes without saying that they are more interested in overscheduling ($$$) than the patients.

I paid out of pocket for my care and expected professionalism, continuity of treatment, and…read morecompassion. Unfortunately, my experience was the opposite. During the middle of my treatment, I was dismissed from the practice because the doctor refused to complete a form I requested. The practice had no problem collecting the $100.00 payment at every visit. 0qWhat was most concerning was that I was dismissed without a referral to another provider or any assistance to ensure continuity of care. As a patient, I felt abandoned during an active course of treatment. While I understand that physicians have the right to decline completing paperwork if they believe it is not appropriate, I also believe patients deserve respectful communication and a proper transition of care. Instead, I was left feeling dismissed and unsupported after investing both my time and money. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this practice. I hope they improve their communication, patient-centered care, and professionalism so that other patients do not have a similar experience.

My father was a patient of Dr. Gavin Van Staden. We arrived at his office on Wednesday, July 2nd,…read moreexpecting to check in for an 11:00 AM appointment. Instead, we were informed by the office manager that the appointment had never been confirmed on their end and that my father was being discharged from the practice due to an alleged no-show on 6/9 and rescheduled appointments on 6/26 and 6/30. To clarify: - My father never had an appointment on 6/9. Neither he nor I scheduled one, nor were we ever informed of one. - On 5/30, he was hospitalized at AdventHealth East Orlando and was later transferred to PAM Rehab Hospital in Winter Garden, where he remained through 6/13. He was physically unable to attend, or even be aware of any appointment during that time. - It turns out the 6/9 appointment was made by AdventHealth during his hospital stay without our knowledge or consent. - I called the office on 6/26 and 6/30 to reschedule due to my father's recent hemorrhagic stroke, which has left him with significant daily challenges. At no point was I told of a rescheduling or cancellation policy, nor was I warned that his status as a patient was at risk. I was simply given a new appointment for 7/2. To then arrive and be told that his appointment was unconfirmed and that he had been discharged, with no prior notice was shocking and deeply frustrating. The communication breakdown was unacceptable. I strongly advise against seeking care from this office, especially if you or your loved one is living with a disability. Managing a disability is hard enough without the added stress of poor communication, indifference, and a lack of compassion from a healthcare provider and their staff.

I liked that the advice felt practical instead of a giant list of things to worry about, and the office had a pretty welcoming feel overall.

As a healthcare professional, I understand the challenges involved in finding quality care. Based…read moreon the experiences of my patients, excellent primary care may be the most challenging to find. Here, I've found an excellent physician in Dr. Velez. I came in as a healthy, young male for a pre-employment physical. Working in healthcare, I get physicals at least annually, among other tests and screens. She could have easily performed a cursory physical exam, asked me whether I could physically work, and signed my form. Instead, Dr. Velez provided a complete physical exam, obtained a full medical and surgical history, and screened me for a few health conditions based on my intake forms and family history. Needless to say, I was impressed with her approach this visit. Not only does she provide comprehensive care, she also knows how to build rapport. She entered the room with a friendly smile, used little medical jargon, which improves communication for many, and was very approachable. If I were to stay in Orlando, she would be my primary care physician! Velez Family Health is located in Dr. Phillips in an office building. It's not visible from the parking lot, but if you walk down the hall of the north building, you'll find this clinic on the first floor past the restrooms. The place is clean, and the front desk staff is affable. Want a doc who truly cares about your health? Come here!

5 Stars for a prompt and friendly PCP…read more I've been putting off getting a Primary care physician for a while, but had several people recommend Dr. Maharaj and finally called to schedule a new patient appointment. It took 6 months to get in for my first appointment, but it was worth it because now I'm an established patient and can get in whenever I need. My suggestion? Make the appointment even if you think it's too far out. You can always cancel if you find another PCP that can see a new patient sooner, but establishing yourself as a patient is key. The office is located near the Target shopping plaza just outside of Baldwin Park in an office building. It is pretty basic, but clean and the woman at the front desk was very friendly. A nurse brought me back to take my weight and medical history. He wasn't the friendliest and I heard him tell several patients he was tired (when they asked "Hi! how are you?" I can definitely understand being at work when you're not feeling up to it, but it made me a bit worried he was tired because he was sick and being in a doctor's office already has me worried I'm going to catch something... Anyway, Dr. Maharaj came in and was a pleasure to speak to. She was clearly very knowledgeable, and spent time asking me questions and running a quick physical exam. Overall, I had a great experience and though I hope I won't be there often, I feel I'll be in good hands when I need it. Quick note: Looks like they offer some aesthetic services like botox as well as other services like well-woman exams.

It's private practice, not a big hospital. I feel genuinely cared for by Dr. Maharaj and her entire staff. She even had her son intern one summer and he was so professional and attentive. Almost forgot to mention, she also administers botox, fillers and other beauty procedures. I've never gotten it before and I won't go anywhere else because Dr. Maharaj is an artist with these shots because she makes them look so natural and not overdone. I also love the fact that an MD is injecting them vs a esthetician at some beauty bars.
