Not the Same Practice Anymore…read more We used to love coming to this office when it was run by Dr. Turnwald and his team. My kids actually enjoyed going to the dentist, and the entire staff was fantastic. About a year ago, I was having tooth pain and called to set up an appointment, and I was pleasantly surprised to get in the same day. However, when I showed up, I found out the entire old staff and Dr. Turnwald had left, and the practice had been sold to a new doctor--without any notice. Even the text and email confirmations still had the old dentist's name, so it was pretty frustrating to show up and find an entirely new staff and doctor. While the new staff was nice and the doctor was okay, the whole experience felt off-putting since I booked the appointment thinking it was still my family's trusted dentist. I also really missed my old hygienist, who always made visits easy for my kids. Honestly, had they been more upfront about the change when I called, it might not have left such a sour taste in my mouth. But now, I drive 30 minutes out of my way to see Dr. Black, where she has her own practice, and it's worth it for the care we receive. Most of the positive Yelp reviews here are for the old practice under Dr. Turnwald, and it says a lot that the entire staff left when he did. We've since followed Dr. Black to new office, and our family is much happier for it.

I was lucky to find Dr. Sokolik!!! He was able to take x-rays and make sure I had an infection in the tooth's root before we did the root canal. Then he recommended surgery and he was a very skilled and fast endodontist!!! I needed to have this surgery before I had a joint replacement and I am so happy I found doctor Sokolik!!! I am a big dentist chicken and he numbed me and I didn't feel anything. I have never been to this practice before. So, I totally understood that they had to take my payment for my surgery before they submitted it to insurance. The office staff and everyone promised to help follow up with me to make sure I get all my money back from my two insurances!

My mother had a dental cleaning appointment with Dr. James Kwon at Brite Dental Care in Palatine…read more The appointment was scheduled for one hour, but we were asked to leave early because the doctor said another patient was waiting, even though our appointment time had not ended and the cleaning was not completed. My mother is over 80 years old, does not speak English, and has hearing impairment. I asked if I could stay in the treatment room to help translate, but the request was denied. For a patient with both a language barrier and hearing impairment, denying communication assistance made the situation very difficult. During the procedure my mother became confused because she could not understand what was happening and left the room to look for me. Shortly afterward we were asked to leave before the cleaning was finished. Being asked to leave before our appointment time was over, while another patient was waiting, was disappointing and stressful for my mother. We ultimately decided to seek care from another dentist.

And, honestly, Dr. Chapko was hard to chase down when I asked for a refund on the implant that broke in 2020. Here's what I'd say: avoid Implantwide. Truly, get a lot of recommendations before you get implants. They're very expensive and not all created or installed in equal expertise. Saving even 25% is not worth it, if they break in your mouth. When I had to go to Dr. Neil Hagen to replace the implant that broke within a year, I had to pay double, but that implant is doing great and now it's 6 years later. The first one broke within the year it was installed! What Dr. Hagen said was the implant was an old variety (screw down) and he does not use them anymore. Unfortunately, Dr. Hagen is now retired (Northwestern Dental School) but find someone like him. It's not worth it to get cheap implants. It causes a lot of pain and suffering! I'd post a photo of my broken implant here, but it will scare you!

I choose ImplantWide Skokie IL, Dr. Konstantin Weingarten (Gromov) after reading the positive…read morereviews. Unfortunately my experience did not go well. On the day of my surgical procedure I was injected with what I consider an excessive amount of novocaine that keep my mouth numb and unable to swallow for over seven hours. Because of this, I wasn't able to take my meds until after the numbness dissipated. My main concern however was the lack of knowledge and helpfulness of Implant Wide's billing manager and Insurance expert, Julia As a result the billing codes they used for 2 of the 15 dental codes were determined to be unacceptable by MetLife insurance and were denied. I was left paying the full amount for those two procedures. I appealed to MetLife and the appeal was denied based on their medical expertise. I asked the office manager to have Dr. Gromov write a justifications letter so that I could request an available second appeal but she refused. I would not recommend Implant Wide due to their lack of professionalism and willingness to help, which in the end left me with a large unnecessary expense.

I originally met Dr. Terp through friends at a party in Wrigleyville. I had recently returned to Chicago and needed a dentist; so I gave him a try. Now, I still travel 20 miles each way to see him--wow, for more than 20 years! He knows my choppers well; as he did the baby and does the adult teeth of my sister's family. I recommended him to them; as I recommend him to everyone. The 10-20 miles is definitely a road block for my downtown friends to see him (literally, on the Kennedy). His Saturday and evening appointments make it a lot easier. I could go to a place a few blocks from my abode, called something like The Art of Dentistry. The "art" part has always been a little frightening to me. I like that Dr. Terp is a complete dental science nerd. Ask him a question, and he'll geek out on the latest technique or product: the ultrasonic cleaner he uses, the difference between filling materials, the benefits/risks of x-rays... He can get as excited as a geek talking about his latest Comic-Con trip: Talk to the hand, bro; I'd rather hear Dr. Terp talk about the mouth, and it's healthier, in my mind. His office staff is great too. Most recently, Adriana was not only physically skillful in cleaning my teeth, but I felt as much tender, loving care from her as I do from Dr. Terp. In fact, this guy's so loving that he's offered free school check-ups to kids and has a coupon for a free first visit on his website. Bonus: he's around the corner from Paradise Pup. But I don't tell him about my visits there after I see him. That's for a different audience (http://goo.gl/4HQSE2).
