Waste of time. An excessive wait time coupled with an unacknowledged doctor plus an unorganized staff equals this. Wait time was excessive. Yes everyone has to see a the doctor who has limited day but when you triple book appointments you're making it very clear you're interested in the payment no the patient. After hours I finally saw a PA who did nothing to help because they seemingly didn't know. They didn't even look at the marks with a dermascope? There was no discussion, didn't offer a biopsy or any next logical step. I was given a lame answer and a shoulder shrug after waiting hours. I wasn't offered no advise past that I could come back if it doesn't go away. When I was finally able to see a legitimate doctor they laughed at what I was told here because of the absurdity. Save your time and money for the excessive wait time & poor doctors in a poorly run facility. Google would have given me more sound advice than I received here AND Front office insisted I had a copay when I dont put me into collections for a bill i didn't even owe! read more

My real rating for this place is ZERO STARS! I should have read the reviews I really should have before I decided to see this Dermatologist. All these negative reviews are CORRECT!! The wait time is LOOOOOOONG!!! I went to see him because I needed to see a dermatologist right away because I was itching like crazy and wanted to know what it was. So when I got there the place was JAM PACKED!!! No place to sit down but I was desperate because I was itchy and this was the only place that would see me the same day I made the appt, So....after about 1 hour and 30 minutes I finally got to see the nurse first, she asked me some questions which I answered as best as I could. Then she wanted to see my itchy skin so I removed my shirt but had a tank top underneath and she was fine with me just lifting up the tank top a bit so she could see the irritation on my stomach and back. In walks the doctor who at first I thought was a Gay not a problem..... well that went out the window because when the nurse explained what I had, he asked me to remove my tank top so he could take a closer look at the irritation. I was like "ok he's Gay he's not interested in my boobs"...but where do you think he stared long and hard at once I removed my tank top?? MY BOOBS !!! Mind you there was no skin irritation anywhere above my stomach but noooooo he wanted to take a "closer look" . So I put my tank top back on and my shirt and he couldn't figure out what it was that was causing the itch. Well maybe if you took a look at the irritation instead of my boobs you would figure out what it was!! He gave me a prescription for an ointment and told me to buy some Allegra and see him in a week. I am not going back there ever again, I felt violated yuck!!! I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE OFFICE. Every time you go there you have to wait like more than a hour from your scheduled appointment time. The ghetto receptionists there are so rude and has very nasty attitudes when you ask them questions. THEY'RE NO HELP. The last time I went there and trust me it was my LAST visit ever they kept me waiting almost 2 HOURS I waited two hours just to find out they lost my file/chart. SMH what kind of office is this... And I visited few weeks before that day so I don't know why they would lose a patients file. You can tell it's a very unorganized and unprofessional office they make there money by giving patients pointless appointments every two weeks to come and get unnecessary treatments. They will inject your acne and removes your whiteheads THAT IS ALL. I been to a better dermatologist that actually cared about me and gave me the right treatment for my skin that helped me. OH and did I mention the Jewish lady doctor who is no help at all she did a stupid procedure on me without authorization from my insurance and few months later got a bill saying I need to pay that amount cause she sent it to a lab. Terrible doctor, terrible office. I would have written this on his ZocDoc page where I found him, but he has his reviews HIDDEN. That should be sign enough that you should STAY AWAY FROM THIS OFFICE. Both times I've came here I've waited over an hour to be seen. The first time i came here, he barely looked at my skin until i asked him to, and then had his nurse do the biopsy I needed on my back because he had to move on since his office is COMPLETELY OVERBOOKED. Dr Berry may ha e saved my life. His early detection of skin lupus tipped us off to go to a rheumatologist who said thank god we caught it early. I had been suffering large red rashes and been to 4 diff dermatologists. The front desk staff is extremely rude they called me to bring in for biopsy results needs to come ASAP I get there wait 45 min told 1 person ahead of me 4 people later and me yelling they call me in. Asked if my girlfriend could come understandably told no due to pandemic she asked if I could get a copy of my results she was told I told you no you can't go in only one person..... listen that is not what was asked I asked for copy of my results as they mumble under their breathe and roll their eyes Dr Berry is great along with his other providers but front desk staff needs to be a lot kinder. read more

I just called the office to confirm my appointment..I was placed on hold twice by a very rude and unprofessional receptionist..I told her I've been hold for 10 minutes..she says to me..keep on holding..no apology only attitude.. If you like waiting for more than 1 hour in an office then he's for you. I used to go to this terrible office because I didn't know any better,but i'm glad I'm elsewhere. This place has no regard for your time. It's an absolute miserable place to be. He sucks as a "doctor" as well. If you have a wart he does the treatment that is not permanent to remove them. DO NOT GO TO THIS DOCTOR! (I only gave 1 star because I had to, really its 0!) First of all, you will wait over an hour to be seen in their ZOO of a waiting room, just to be seen for like 5 seconds by one of the million PAs working in this zoo! The front desk staff is rude and incompetent! They are so DISTRACTED and frazzled working in this overbooked practice that they get everything mixed up and confused. They confirmed with me that they take my insurance, if you have health insurance, WHY ON EARTH would you go to a doctor that does not take your insurance. There are a million other better dermatologists I could have gone to. I went for a visit, and scheduled a follow-up 2 weeks later, and went. They had no problem telling me they take my insurance and accepting my copays. until AFTER my 2 visits. I get a phone call stating they do not take my insurance and I will be responsible for the entire bill. EXCUSE ME! Why didn't anyone think to look up and tell me in the first place they don't take my insurance. The staff is IGNORANT, DISTRACTED, RUDE, AND MISINFORMED. I have worked in healthcare for over 10 years, I know it gets busy. But ANY of the doctors I worked with would have had the common sense to eat the charge as a courtesy because of the incompetence of the office staff. Our first visit at Dr. Richard Berry, MD office in Howard Beach was a great experience. Firstly booking the appt online was a breeze. no long waits for an appt. I took my daughter Frances for her first visit and we was greeted by friendly professional great staff. The Dr. (Rachael) was very kind and humble. She was very fast talking but clear and with no rush. She did some testing (Biopsy) in secs and was very clear of what she thought the diagnosis would be. Follow up appt in one week. Waiting time at the office was not long at all and booking an appt either. I will definitely book my family here. I give them 5 stars. GREAT JOB!!! read more

If i could give a zero I would they do not care about patients in this office first visit it I thought i had ring worm they took a sample of my scalp in December called me in for another visit within 2 weeks. Kept telling me you need to come in you need to come in I said do you have the skin sample results they said no it takes 3 to 6 weeks 3 weeks for the first sample then 3 more weeks for the second. So wtf would i come back for every week to 2 weeks with out the skin sample results ?. I had no choice i was in tears went back no call from the office no results from the second skin 3 minutes I swear I saw a female this time also as I did the first visit. I said you have the results from the skin sample do you know what the problem is. Results came back 5 weeks later no ring worms or fungus. Iam in pain my scalp is on fire and itches 247/365 so badly I express this to the female dr I said do you know whats going on with my scalp big flakes of dry skin and it itches so badly she goes no but Iam going to prescribe you another medication by now Ive been doing my own research and its clearly scalp Psoriasis this is a sad situation in the mean time I'm suffering in tears every night. She gives me a second medication I get to the dam pharmacy she wrote a prescription for Neutrogena T Gel wtf is going on here really an OTC product. Ive been using everything under the sun nothing is working so i know for dam sure TGel is not going to work. I am no Doctor but I am no fool I clearly see whats going on here. Its sad, they took an oath to care for patients as I did as an officer to protect and serve but I tell you what I will be calling my insurance company and I refused to pay another co payment. Nobody is going to fuck with me at the expense of my health.I am suffering Iam in agony every day my hair is falling out my scalp is in flames I cant sleep haven't eaten constant itching its this is no right. I called the office to obtain a receipt and was placed on hold several time by a very rude and unprofessional receptionist..I asked to speak with the billing dept she completely refused and stated that I was not able to obtain a receipt for payments made on my visit because my insurance was not billed. She refuse to allow me to speak and hung the phone up on me. I called back and experience the same rudeness, she put me on hold for 15 mins before I was able to explain what i needed. I have been a patient of Dr. Berry's for several, this is the 1 st time i'm back to see him since 2012 and his new staff is so rude and disrespectful. Doctor Berry not only handles his patients with expertise, he cares about their well being. I have been a patient of Doctor Berry for quite some time (8 years) and I realize that he does have a large following of patients and you may have to wait for a little while before being seen by the doctor. He has a large following because he's that good in what he does. His staff is always willing to go the extra steps to handle their patients issues. People have to be patient and wait their turn like any other doctors visits. If you can't wait to be seen, then go to another doctor and stop the negativity please. Don't waste your time coming here or your co pay money! Zero stars if possible . They are so rude,ghetto and unprofessional. The girls at the front desk are horrible!!!!! If you have a constant attitude problem don't work at a place where you have to deal with people all day long and answer phone calls! The simple concept of doing your job doesn't apply with this office . If I acted this way At my job and people were consistently complaining about my service I'd be fired! They opened at 9am, 20 mins in the girl at the front desk is already sucking her teeth and annoyed she has to answer phone calls and deal with insurance . The PA is no better . Came in for a face concern . She walked in, didn't sanitize hands or put gloves on but proceeded to touch my face that is already breaking out . I made sure to get an appointment time right when they open(9am) so I didn't have to wait long - still waited 1 and half hrs to see see a PA. They were recommended to me by a family member because they are so close to where I live but please don't chose convenience over going somewhere that has such terrible reviews . PA was super pushy about using a pharmaceutical company that will take 1 week to deliver the topical treatments . If I'm having a face concern right now and took the time and money to come see a doctor to help fix it why would I want to wait a week to get something to help? And wanted me to come back 2 weeks later to check on the progress - what progress can be made in a week of using a product? She kept emphasizing that if I send to my regular pharmacy that I will have to pay for it but if using the company I won't . I insisted to use my pharmacy so I can get it right away . The pharmacist calls me saying they don't have one of the things the PA prescribed and goes on to say that she already called to see if they can send something similar and of course the PA refuses . Won't even be coming back to do a follow up . Will go to a better dermatologist with proper reviews and proper workers. read more

Dr Berry, has to be out of his mind. He made an assumption based on my personality to what I thought was a skin disorder and made me think I had contracted a non curable disease. He did not inform me on any second opinions or furthering my diagnosis. He simply said that is what you have and people that have this specific skin condition usually have this specific disease. He did not tell me that I have this disease I repeat he did not tell me I have it, he made a fast conclusion on what he thought was going on with me, and led me to believe something with his choice of words. Mind you all of this happening within 5 minutes. At first when I went in I was seen by a medical assistant of some sort she told me my issue was due to shaving against the grain she explained everything to me about way I was having this issue. Then when he came in he very abruptly, he immediately shut her down told her she was wrong took one look at me and diagnosed me with the worst. I strongly recommend you do not go to this doctor due to the fact that he does not have compassion for his patients. To think of somebody with a not so strong mindset heard what I heard in my visit they could have been very emotionally scarred and maybe even have taken matters into their own hands per SE.STAY AWAY FOR YOUR OWN EMOTIONAL/MENTAL HEALTH.. I haven't been to Dr. R. Berry's office since 2007. As one of his patients, he was very good. I have no complaints about him or staff. The waiting time is horrible. It takes forever to see anyone of his staff or him. Over booking seems to be the main problem. I rate his waiting time a one. Hopefully I can get into his office. read more

I experienced the worst experience there. First day I came in, I said I'd like to remove the acne scars and a mole so they did a biopsy on a piece of the mole and now I got the bill for that for some reason. They had me coming back every two weeks to see about acne and had me get alot of prescription meds that cost quite a lot which obviously wasn't necessary nor did it work for the little acne i had. My last visit, I had to wait 1 hour and 30 mins after my set appointment time only to go into the room to then be told that I'll have to go to a cosmetic dermatologist and that's only because this was a completely different doctor from who I've been dealing with weeks before. So everyone who read this, DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. Trust what you read here because people are right. They don't care about their patients and it's very clear that they want to keep their clients coming so they set up appointment dates for something you clearly don't need because it brings in the money.
