My results from Dr. Mandel's surgery were horrible and I am having to undergo extensive surgery to repair the extensive damage. I don't even look like the same person. This has been a nightmare. Dr. Mandel said it was just "the way I healed" and has taken no responsibility for the damage he had caused. Run from this person, run! He has a previous record by the state for doing inappropriate procedures with damaging results. I give you ZERO stars but this site automatically gives you 1 Star or you cannot post to this site. read more

I had jaw surgery here a couple of years ago to correct an under bite. Doctor Mandel and the Staff were friendly. However, I wish I would have received more information about the surgery. My bite and smile did improve, or at least is better than how it was. The only down side of the surgery was that they could not work with my insurance so I had to pay out of pocket. Also, I now have numbness on my chin and lower lip that has not gone away and don't think ever will. From what I have researched is due to nerve damage, so think twice before moving forward with this surgery. -LC read more

Let me say first off, Dr. Mandel is amazing. He does great work and put me to sleep for my wisdom teeth extraction and when I woke up, I barely felt any pain. My healing process was amazing, and I would definitely go back to Dr. Mandel again IF...he got rid of the girls at the front desk. His insurance girl Jackie, and his receptionist Carmen has been more unpleasant to work with. Carmen is very sassy and doesn't understand the first thing about customer service, and Jackie is even worse when it comes to helping patients out. Jackie probably used to work for collections or the DMV because that's the kind of customer service or support I received when I spoke with her. She didn't try to go above and beyond to help out. She was very unsympathetic when it came to working with insurance and helping out patients. And the worst part is, they are so unorganized when it comes to their paperwork. I got my wisdom teeth pulled in June, July they let me know I have an outstanding balance. I tried to figure out my insurance between them and my provider. 3 months goes by and I didn't hear anything and so I naturally assumed it was solved. Then in the middle of my work day I get a call saying she's sending me to collections because I haven't responded to her invoices that she sent to the WRONG ADDRESS. Then after work I finally get the time to call to pay it off, Carmen gives me attitude saying Jackie is not there and I can't pay it without her. I ask for the hours that Jackie works because of course I have to work too, but she responds back with "Hon, I don't know Jackie's hours." Really? Where did you learn that customer service from? So even though Dr. Mandel was beyond charming and does great work. Yes he does call the evening of to make sure you are okay. The trouble and attitude I went through with his front desk girls, definitely prevents me from recommending him to anyone. Sorry Dr. Mandel! read more

Am I the only person reviewing Dr Mandel?? Came here for my wisdom teeth extraction last month. I am satisfied with the results :D I needed to take out all four, so I went in for general anesthesia. Office is located on the 7th floor, pretty small suite. The assistants working didn't seem so friendly at first, but once you start talking to them they're pretty nice. Consultation included x-rays. Dr Mandel & his assistant were very helpful and thorough with instructions on preparing for surgery & post-surgery care. Day of the surgery went well. I went in at 9:30, was seated in the 'operation' room right away. I hate needles!! They put on a cool numbing mist & I hardly felt the IV inserted into my vein, felt like a pinch. Within 30 seconds I was knocked out & next thing I knew I was awake & alert as they walked me to a restbed :) Procedure took about an hour-hour& a half. After surgery, Dr Mandel gives you a quick recap on the surgery & instructs you once again about post surgery care. He even called later in the evening to see how I was doing :) I was worried about having big cheeks so I iced my cheeks all day long & I didn't have chipmunk cheeks! :) I continued to bleed til the next day. Didn't feel much pain, thanks to the vicodin :D I went in for 2 follow ups. And I'm pretty much fully recovered! Overall, I'd recommend Dr Mandel! He's super sweet and truly cares about his patients. He's very smart, ask him any question & he knows the answer. Oh and I think the pricing is pretty decent for people with no insurance. Yay finally got my wisdom teeth out, I was supposed to since November 2007 =x glad I finally went in & I'm glad I went to Dr. Mandel! read more

My experience with Dr. Mandel and his staff was amazing. After a bad and painful experience with my first two wisdom teeth removed and searching around for another oral surgeon to complete my extractions I was recommended to this office by my orthodontist. I'm actually writing this review hours after my procedure because I feel great! The procedure was so quick and easy since I felt like I took a 5 minute nap and it was over. I am experiencing minimal normal pain but do not have any swelling as of yet in comparison to my last wisdom tooth procedure when I came out looking like a chipmunk. Overall, the service I received was amazing and would recommend anyone needing procedures to go here. Also, his staff who assisted me, Jackie and Carmen were so sweet to me and my mom. I appreciated that so much making the process so much tolerable. I left happy with my service and they even gave me ice cream, Ben & Jerry's to be exact :) read more

I've recommended Dr. Mandel to at least three of my friends. Why? Because he is flippin awesome! Before I went to Dr. Mandel, I had had my lower wisdom teeth taken out by another doctor. I was HEAVILY sedated and needed a nurse and my mom's help to get from the office to the car after the procedure. Then when I went home and went into a drugged sleep, I woke up to an incredible pain in my mouth. Literally, I felt the pain before I opened my eyes. I woke up crying because it hurt so bad. Needles to say, when I had to get my upper ones removed, I was quite nervous. But Dr. Mandel was great! He was very patient and thorough and funny. He made me feel very comfortable and wrote me a prescription for Vicodin even though he didn't think I would need it. But it calmed me to know that at least I could get some painkillers if I needed it after the surgery. Day of surgery: Easy peasy! The nurses were very helpful and efficient. Dr. Mandel did a terrific job. I was totally knocked out for the procedure but after a little nap, I was totally awake. I was able to have a conversation with the nurse about post-op care and walked out of the building with my amazed mom. Trust me, I was amazed too! When I got home, I crawled into bed, making sure I had my painkillers near me since I just knew I was going to be feeling the pain once I woke up. Two hours later, I was awake and totally fine! I couldn't believe how painless the whole procedure was compared to the nightmare that I went through before! So everyone, please go to Dr. Mandel for the win! read more

I have two daughters and they both had Dr. Mandel extracted their wisdom teeth in the past. Dr. Mandel did a superb job on each one of them with no pain and no post op complication. Highly recommended for all children that need dental surgery. read more

I will not be coming back here or referring this place to any friends who need an oral surgeon. Dr. Mandel did his job just fine, and even called the after I had a wisdom tooth removed to make sure I was doing okay. However, my problem is with his rude and incompetent staff. The absolutely ruined my experience. First off, they put my incorrect first AND last name on all the paperwork. Even when I corrected them before my surgery, they never changed it. Prior to surgery, I go to pay for my procedure and the total was higher than I anticipated. I ask them if this total is with my insurance, and they impatiently told me it was correct. Then, right before my surgery, Dr. Mandel notes the differing names on the paperwork. I let him know I already let the girls at the front know about the mistake. When I got home, I noticed they did overcharge me by more than $200. About a month or so later, they send me a check for the amount they overcharged me. Except, the check again had the same wrong first and last name. Are you serious? I tried to call them to figure out how to get a check reissued with the correct name, and the girls at the front desk were so RUDE and impatient about it. They were not apologetic or helpful. I'm not sure who taught them hospitality of guest services, but I will not be returning here ever again. read more

Amazing service and professionalism. All the staff and doctors go above and beyond and are super friendly. I had came in for an extraction. My elderly mother tagged along to inquire on an issue she was having with a molar. As I was having my surgery, They took her in right there and then , took X-rays. assessed and extracted the problem molar. She was beyond happy and relieved. I've never had such a wonderful experience with any dental office! Thank you ,my mom and I are extremely appreciative:)!! read more

I have used Dr. Mandel for my teenage daughter two times (a few years ago) for extractions, which were needed prior to getting braces. He did excellent work then. So now I'm reviewing Dr. Mandel for work done today. I just had implant surgery this morning. (Missing tooth on my left lower jaw). It was beyond easy peasy. I opted for a "general anaesthetic" - meaning you go to sleep while the procedure is done. My wife said: "Take the Sleep Option. You're a Wimp." I didn't put up a fight. (I admit: I'm a wimp.) Gues what? It was worth it. The surgery was a NON-EVENT. No stress, No procedure pain. No recovery pain. He didn't have to add bone to reinforce the integrity of the implant. Based on the x ray results weeks ago, he advised that the width of the bone was enough to accept the titanium screw implant. (I'm an old man). That not only saved additional costs, iit also made the procedure simpler. Here's the deal with Mandel: he's extremely professional, knows his stuff, explains things well and in a manner that a layperson can understand, very patient in answering questions, plus he has great "bedside manner" ie., he's gentle and seems like a very kind person. (BTW, he was highly recommended -- my regular dentist's office manager used Mandel for her kids. What more social proof can you get, right?) The entire staff of the clinic are all courteous, polite, extremely knowledgeable. and very helpful. They ALL have great customer service. Plus they were very efficient in terms of billing, paper work, giving the info I needed re medicines, insurance, and prep, etc. Mandell has a well run clinic. These people are pros. If I knew how painless implant were gonna be, I'd have started sooner. It took about an hour this morning, and it's been 8 hours since I left the office, and there's no pain, no swelling. Dare i say he did a good job? NO. He did an excellent job. If you need oral surgery work, Mandel's the Man. Thank you Dr. Mandell and Staff!!! read more

I have seen Dr. Mandel twice. Once as child when I had to have 5 teeth taken out and now as an adult, I got my wisdom teeth removed. Dr. Mandel is really amazing. He takes care of the anesthesia also which is nice. I didn't wake up groggy at all. I would suggest clearing your day if you go to see him. You do tend to wait a bit in the waiting room to see him since he is pretty busy and likes to be thorough with patients. He even calls personally to make sure you are doing well. Excellent doctor! read more

i had my wisdom teeth taken out & felt absolutely nothing. i was in and out with in an hr and a half. i had zero pain, even days after. just swollen & sore :( but thats expected. dr. mandel called me that night to make sure i was feeling okay & everything went well. read more

I had the best experience possible with Dr. Mandell. I had my wisdom teeth removed and the procedure and post op was nothing like what I had expected. Friends and family told me horror stories about their wisdom teeth removal. My surgery was quick and I wasn't floored when I woke up. Staff was super friendly and accommodating. Pharmacy in the lobby for easy med pick up, and I had minimal swelling the following day. To top off an awesome experience, Dr. Mandell called me in the evening to check on my progress. 5 star experience hands down. read more

This has to be the friendliest place I've gone too. My brother's mouth had swollen up because his wisdom tooth problem got worse we came here to check it out. They were fast they noticed it as soon as we step into those doors. Dr. Hoover is an awesome/ kind person. His staff are beyond amazing Michelle, Stephanie, especially Carmen!. He did a outstanding job and it was quick I felt like I was only here for 10 mins. 5 stars. read more

AMAZING doctor and OUTSTANDING customer service!! My daughter went to Dr. Mandel to get all four wisdom teeth removed. As a 16 year old girl, she was terrified of the procedure. Dr. Mandel was extremely comforting and confident in the procedure and explained each step to put my daughter at ease during our consultation. On the day of the surgery, he sat down and talked her through the procedure again and she was out within 45 minutes! As my husband and I waited for her to finish, got wonderful service from the staff - snacks, coffee, etc. At night, Dr. Mandel personally called us to make sure everything was ok. Amazing! Two years later, my daughter had gum overgrowth on her tooth and our dentist referred Dr. Mandel to remove the extra gum that was causing her pain. Upon calling the office, they gave the first appointment for the next morning! We waited only 5 minutes (as always) and Dr. Mandel treated her immediately. Again, he called at night to make sure everything was okay. We have been through countless orthodontists, surgeons, dentists, etc. but Dr. Mandel and his staff are the most friendly, comforting, and well trained office we have been to. I recommend to everyone!! read more

I'll start saying... I was surprised to see these excellent reviews. The "2 stars" is because his staff was very nice. My experience with Dr Mandel was completely different!! I'll describe him as "Arrogant" I'll give heads up on the outcome...My dental work was successfully done by Dr. Thomas Michaelis..that's "5 stars" In summary... I came to him after two unsuccessful root canals on the tooth in question, I had a cyst next to the tooth. My primary dentist refferred me to an Endodontic Specialist and he refferred to Dr. Mandel. I had all the info & X-rays from the other dentists...He said he couldn't proceed without doing a 3D x-ray, which is not covered by my insurance. Just to get a feeling as to how necessary this process was I asked "Would you recommend something like this to your wife?"...His response was "YOU HAVE MONEY ISSUES"...I asked to allow me few minutes to speak with my husband, HIs response "You'll have to wait for at least 1/2hr because I have something to do in the back" (there was no other patients waiting at the time). The front desk was doing the paper work for the "3D xray" (I don't recall the exact conversation)...He said: "Yes, because I'm such a nice guy" :-/ After looking at the 3D xray, he told me NOTHING DIFFERENT from the other dentists "tooth extraction"...Front desk called to ask him when to schedule my next appt...It was scheduled for "2 WEEKS" LATER... Came home, called my primary dentist & shared my experience, they referred me to Dr Michaelis. Dr Michaelis' staff scheduled me for the following day, called Dr Mandel's office to have my records transferred. Dr Mandel's office asked that I call to confirm the request. When I called they asked if I wanted to come in the next day and start my procedure....NO, THANK YOU !! :-/ read more

Dr Mandel removed two of my wisdom teeth. He is friendly, explains your options, has great manners in the operating room. The quality of the extractions he performed for me was great - no significant post-op pain, no dry sockets, and no pain or healing issues afterwards. I also liked his discretion in using antibiotics - he did not prescribed them in my case, and this is good considering gastrointestinal and other common side effects of antibiotics. Overall, a great doctor, I liked him. read more

Dr. Mandel is amazing at what he does. I got 3 wisdom teeth removed and went in for general anesthesia. The process is so comfortable, they even spray a numbing mist before inserting the IV so you don't feel that brief pain. I woke up not feeling groggy at all, just felt a little physically weak for a few minutes. The recovery process went perfectly well, I didn't even feel the need to take any pain meds even though I had vicodin if needed. He puts you on antibiotics for 5 days as well, so the wounds won't get infected. He also gave me a phone call that evening to check up and see how I was doing. He's the man. Highly recommended for anyone who needs wisdom tooth removal! read more
