We went on a little adventure tonight. We were staying in the middle of nowhere Tennessee and wanted some sushi. We found this place on yelp, but it was closing in an hour and it was a 40 minute drive from our hotel so we hopped in the car. While we were driving we were pulling up the menu and trying to call to order. The first call did not go well and we lost it altogether. The second call, we were trying to order and got to a roll the worker didn't recognize and we were like okay, just the others. We pull in 2 minutes before they close, only to discover the phoneline had cut out again and they didn't have our order at all. We talked for a minute realizing there had been a misunderstanding on both sides. That Roll we were trying to order? We were looking at a menu for another restaurant with the same name. The guy offered to make us some rolls, and we said no because clearly they were trying to clean up and get out of there. He ended up making us some rolls anyway! He probably doesn't know it but he absolutely saved our night and kept an hour drive from being wasted. These folx were so kind, went above and beyond, and the food was GOOD. If you are in the area you should stop by and ask for the Sexy Girl roll. It's not on the menu, but I bet it will be soon! read more

You would never expect anything as fabulous as it was. It's located in a small strip center in Tellico village. I am so pleasantly suprised. Francisco was our waiter and recommended some great rolls for us. My favorite was definitely the Mexican and Madagascar we ordered extra spicy. Finally gave Rice Kitchen a try. I don't have sushi often so we just ordered a couple of rolls to go. The Mexican roll was fried and the Honey Moon roll was not. Both had good flavor, were fresh, and are items I would order again. I went early, before 5pm to pick up my order, and there weren't many in the restaurant. The ambience is clean, comfortable but plain. The servers were attentive while I waited. The bottom line : the food was good and I will go back. They offer a variety of items, including many rolls, sashimi, hibachi, and teriyaki. Give it a try. read more

Just had breakfast there today. #3 was excellent and the Service is always great too!

Everytime the service and food is amazing!!! The owner is great and made my daughter a special shrimp nigiri! They also always make her kid chopsticks! The chicken hibachi and all the sushi is amazing! My favs so far are the UT roll and mango tango roll. My 8 year loves the California roll as it is a big piece of crab versus the crab salad. Coming from the West Coast, I have very high expectations when it comes to Asian cuisine, but the sushi here is as good as any I've had. Since they advertised sushi, Thai, and hibachi, I tried one dish of each. For the sushi, I had the Cosmo, Madagascar, and basic California rolls. Good flavor in the sauce, not too much rice in the rolls, and fresh tasting fish made for strong overall rolls. The shrimp hibachi and chicken curry dishes were both pretty good, but fried rice and curry sauce respectively could both use a tad more flavor. Overall, if you're looking for a Japanese restaurant without risking fishy experience , Rice Kitchen should do the trick. read more

Great little spot in the heart of Tellico Village. A little bit of a slow night and we were seated immediately. Service was quick and friendly. The sushi was fresh and flavorful. Walking in late, to almost closing time, the staff was very friendly and welcomed us in with opened arms. Looking over the menu they have lots of sushi items and hibachi grill. Homerun in the Village. Had lunch and wasn't disappointed but happy to see this new business. Went at lunch time to see the place was full. The place is actually way bigger than expected. I tried the Hibachi chicken and it was amazing. Savory flavor and cooked to perfection. The sautéed veggies were delectable. I tried the spicy tuna roll Sushi. We visited the Rice Kitchen several times since it opened up last year and we also got a couple of orders to go. Overall, we enjoyed our meals and the service was great. The decor is very odd and resembles a Mexican restaurant more than a sushi place. The food is pretty good. We especially enjoyed the sushi and the curry dishes. Definitely worth visiting if you live in or close to Tellico Village. They have a lunch special and also specialty sushi rolls. read more

Penang curry was excellent. Rice was sticky, just like rice should be. Flavor was more akin to red curry (no avocado or peanuts like I'm used to in most Penang curries), but the sauce was thick (I hate runny curries), and all the vegetables and shrimp were cooked well. Service was great. The only annoying thing is that they have Chota road blocked off, so you have to drive around to get to the restaurant - but it was totally worth it! read more

My wife and I, and another couple went to the Rice Kitchen last night for dinner. The sushi rolls were very good. I had fried rice which was blah, no vegetables, a few pieces of meat and no flavor. My wife had a hibachi dish that consisted of a scoop of dry chicken pieces, a scoop of rice and a scoop of cooked vegetables. It was not cooked together and quite unappetizing. Great new place in Tellico Village! Sat at the sushi bar the first time and had a chance to interact with the owners. They are brothers and passionate about what they do. The one that is the main sushi chef worked under a high level Japanese sushi chef for a decade in Detroit. The creativity of their rolls and fresh fish rivaled anything I have had at some of the best Sushi houses I've been in my travels in the US. Most if all they are fun people and just enjoy what they do. We went back again with a larger group and it was even better the second time. Gotta to go check them out! read more
