This was the absolute worst Chinese food I've ever had. Ordered $60+ of stuff for delivery and just took 85% of it and immediately dumped it in the garbage it was that bad. Everything was dry, and absolutely flavorless, colorless, orderless... just gunk. Seriously, they can't even make passable fried rice? I couldn't think of anything I could do to fix that gunk so just dumped $60+ into the trash. You'd be FAR better off just buying some frozen Chinese food and heating it up yourself. It's going to be months before I even consider eating any Chinese food anywhere ever again. That's how bad it really was. You have been warned. P.S. The one star is for quantity. I visited Rice Box for lunch on Saturday with my sister who uses this place as her go-to lunch spot. I ordered the hibachi chicken with brown rice, boring, I know, but sometimes simplicity yields the best results. My sister ordered a bento box. The chicken was high quality and quite tasty and the rice was fresh. The sushi roll served in the bento box appeared to be quite skimpy and immediately fell apart when she tried to pick it up with chopsticks and as an avid sushi-lover, it was disappointing to know that they do not properly roll the sushi. To each his own, I suppose. All in all, the food sufficed as a nice lunch and held me over completely until dinner. However, the service was lacking. Our waitress disappeared and did not even bother to refill our waters. We requested wasabi and never received it. ALLERGY SUFFERERS BEWARE! I used to like the food here, but the service was not very good. Due to a lack of decent food on the west side of the lake, I came here more than once and felt it was the best I could do to find healthy options. Up to this point, they had managed to fill my order correctly, which is important since I cannot eat anything containing mushrooms. On my last visit, there were only two other tables and I went through my order, with the same server I had at least four times before, explaining the need to prevent cross-contamination due to my allergy. She brought my order to the kitchen and delivered it to the table without checking for accuracy. There was a funny smell to my food when she put it in front of me. I wondered why it smelled "different". I ate one of the shrimp and it tasted okay, so I thought the dish was okay since the rest was pineapple and vegetables. However, I felt like my mouth was swelling so I started to stir and look at the contents. Hidden underneath, all along the bottom, were big whole mushrooms. I went to the counter and told the waitress/cashier that my request was ignored and now I was having an allergic reaction. No apology. Just a look of annoyance. I paid for my tea left quickly to get to the pharmacy. I try to be considerate by not going to restaurants when they are too busy to deal with special requests. The least I expect is for the restaurant to take it seriously and either double check the order or tell me if they cannot manage my request. This is the first lunch special that I have ever seen that does not come with free egg roll. I asked for spicy but the cook did not make it spicy I asked for Thai red curry chicken and what I got was a water broth with a small spec of curry there was no flavor what so ever in the sauce this has to be the worst of the worst curry chicken I've ever had. The chicken is a weird texture that I cannot describe I don't even know if its even chicken I have no idea. The best thing about this dish is the zucchini. Ok, so this place is covering a lot of ground on the Asian cuisine front, and may lose a few points for trying to be all things to all people, but I have to say, aside from a few service hiccups, I have been extremely pleased with the food here and appreciate a good variety of styles. I ordered a Thai style spicy pineapple chicken and was actually very impressed with the taste, portion and presentation. This type of spicy-sweet dish is right in my wheel house, and so I consider myself a bit of an expert on these things. Having it come on a highly appointed half-pineapple was pleasantly unexpected. We had a couple of top-notch cocktails to start, which didn't hurt my impression of the place, I suppose. Also had a very nice Thai Calamari appetizer. My wife's Shrimp Lo Mein was actually the best she's had. It was actually pretty special for a bunch of noodles, I have to say. We decided to give the sushi a run next and ordered take out a few days later. WOW.. again, very impressed with the presentation and I haven't had better exotic sushi rolls anywhere.. I had heard from a friend this was a great place, so we tried it for lunch. My friend had her heart set of Thai Curry. Needless to say, it was a bit disappointing. First of all, when we came in, the host pointed to a booth for us to sit down without any smile or greeting whatsoever. Then my friend ordered sweet tea and it came unsweetened. Then we ordered the Red Thai Curry with chicken. Every other place I have enjoyed this dish serves it in a bowl with lots of curry sauce, kind of like a soup. Okay, the food is good, the orders always come out well presented and the portions are good for the price you pay. The lunch deals however, you can't beat them! I don't think you can go to anywhere else around for the kind of food you get and pay the price you pay. Okay this place is hit or miss with service (speed, staff avalaible, friendliness). With that being said, with the prior knowledge of this, keep that in mind. The last time I was in there, it looked like they was training some new help, this may fix their staffing issue. The Pros- Good food, wide selection of items, the price is fair. The Cons- There is a lack of staff during busy hours, the staff that is in place sometimes comes across as unpleasant, the dining area is kind of small.
