I ordered the large roasted pork and it was incredible: salty, shredded, tender goodness. Reminded me of Michoacan style carnitas but shredded. A fantastic pairing to their perfect yellow rice. The inside is decorated colorfully and is comfortable. I was not familiar with many foods on the menu, but I was adventurous and tried the special: Pastelon de Amarillo's - ground beef, cheeses, sweet plantains in a round dish. I asked for sweet plantains for a side. Next time I'll choose something else. That was too many plantains for me. Husband had grilled skirt steak with red beans & white rice. He ate almost everything - left some of the rice. He really enjoyed his dinner, and he, too, would like to return. Andrew was our wait staff and he was efficient and friendly. The prices were reasonable, and our booth was comfortable. I took home half of my meal as I didn't want to stuff myself. When reheated the next day, it was just as good. I hope this restaurant is here for many years!

The shrimp, chicken and steak were all so flavorful with herbaceous undertones. They worked so well together. WOULD RECOMMEND. It was 10/10. The staff was so kind and accommodating! The fried pork main dish was fried HARD but not dry. Just lots of crunch and flavor. The sauce it came with was perfect for dipping though. The beans were delicious and went perfectly with the fluffy white rice. The cute little outside area was perfect to sit and eat during a beautiful day. We decided to sit at the bar and initially thought we were going to order to-go. So while we perused the menu, we ordered Pina Coladas and bacalaitos. The drinks were very tasty and pretty to boot. The bacalaitos were perfectly fried and not sopping wet with grease, which they tend to be at most places. I ordered the whole fried red snapper with tostones and Hubby ordered the Trifongo with Pulpo with a side of white rice and red beans. We also ordered the fried pork chops with rice and beans for my FIL, who lives with us and was at home with his home health aide. We told our server that we'd like all three dinners to go. Chef Albert came out of the kitchen and begged us to reconsider. We explained that we had to get back home, but he promised us that he would get our meals out in 10 minutes so we could enjoy it while it was hot and fresh. We decided to trust him. I heard him giving orders in the kitchen and Chef Albert was true to his word. Our meals came out in less than 15 minutes (also rare for Latin restaurants). My snapper was delicious!! Fried to perfection, nicely seasoned with sautéed onions (I personally like a lot of onions, so next time I'll ask for more). My tostones were very tasty too, with a side of mayoketchup. Hubby's Trifongo was to die for. So moist and tasty - and he didn't even have the cilantro sauce on it (had it on the side). The octopus was very tender and tasty. The rice and beans were very good as well. If only we had brought an avocado with us, it would have been perfection. Dad's pork chop was aromatic (Hubby and I don't eat meat, but it did smell good). It was a decent sized chop and Dad put a good dent into it. He said it was very flavorful. So not only was the food amazing, but the service was exceptional. Our server, Esmeralda, was friendly, knowledgeable, and smiled the entire time. She made several recommendations that were spot on. Chef Albert was a delight and the other servers behind the bar were also friendly. I can't wait to bring my mom, brother, and sister-in-law. Oh and did I mention that I'm Puerto Rican, so I know good Puerto Rican food when I'm eating it. I'm so glad that ZHills has a great PR restaurant. We used to go to Corozal, which also was good, but the service there was super slow. Mesa Latina is very efficient and while it's pricey, the food and service are worth it. Can't wait to try out their lunch specials during the week!

We were greeted by a waitress... a couple mins. We received a complimentary noodle soup, we ate it and it was delicious. We had 2 waiters taking care of us. We then proceeded to tell him our order A couple apps, and a couple entrees for me and her.... I can't recall how long we waited to get our appetizers, but it wasn't too long..... so, we ate them slowly, thinking we were going to get our meals very soon. But that didn't happen... Our waiter then says to us, please be patient, our food takes time to make, so we didn't think anything about at the time..... but I started to notice.... One side of the restaurant, looks empty, and we sat right by the kitchen, and the other side.... I couldn't see if there was people or not..... and it's now, 30 mins in and all I see are, 3-4 waiters just hauling food to one side of the restaurant and we still haven't got an update, no one showed up to our table with food or nothing, now it's past 45 mins in.... And me and my fiancé are getting irritated and pissed... she got up and asked about the food and the waiter just nonchalantly tells her, it's coming out.... Now, it's over an hour and we're beyond pissed.... Everyone around us, receiving food but us. We didn't even order but 2 appetizers and 2 small entrees..... it was so bad, got into an argument with the staff and they comp us one meal and that's it. And made them wrap up our food to go. I hope they fix that, Because that's ridiculous and just disrespectful to us to make us wait for over an hour. It's our first time and most likely our last......

Nicely pressed, great flavor. I also had to get a small mofongo. If you have not had it before, Mofongo is plantains with onions and spices, rolled up into a ball and cooked. It is served with chicken broth, which you will definitely understand should you decide to eat mofongo without it (plantains, unlike bananas, will dry you out). As for the million dollar question?
