Torta was bigger than I expected it to be ended up making 4 meals out of this. But the winner for the day was The Carne Asada tacos! They were the jammin! Despite the language barrier with the two lovely ladies in the truck who didn't speak English, I placed my order by saying, "Un taco con todos," and then reading off the type of meat. It felt gratifying to be able to order in their language. When it was time to pick up my order, and I wanted to request extra hot sauce, I encountered a bit of a challenge because I didn't know how to say that in Spanish. I had to show them the small sauce containers inside my order to show that I wanted those. All the meats were incredibly flavorful and juicy, and I look forward to returning for more. Next time, I might bring some radishes to complement the flavors. After placing my order, I had to pay for my order there and then return the receipt to the food truck. I plan to return to try more items from the menu. One great thing about this food truck is that we can head next door to the ice cream parlor to sit and enjoy our meal in a more relaxed setting or even finish off with some ice cream. It's the perfect spot to know it's a few minutes from my future home.

I often come this way and I have passed this particular Taco Shop many times and never stopped, but today I took a left on Route 15A from Route 44 and then cut through the Shell Station parking lot and found a space just in front of this food trailer. The staff today were two young employees relaxing under the pop-up tent behind the portable kitchen when I arrived, as hot as it was outdoors I think it was cooler under the tent than inside the small trailer that had the door propped open. The greeting and introduction was friendly and they wasted no time preparing my request - two steak tacos (I had them omit the onion). My next question was predictable when asked what type of sauce did I prefer "red" or "green" hmmmmm "which is hotter, yes I'll definitely take the red then". It turned out to be a great choice, not only was it very very very hot it was so delicious. The little corn tortillas were filled with plenty of grilled steak that was very flavorful and topped with a cabbage salad and lots of freshly broken cilantro (very fresh and very fragrant). I admit I am no way a connoisseur of street tacos but I know what I like but I'm ignorant when it comes to constructing them but I did learn something today that I will incorporate in my own kitchen - chop the steak small, very small the small tender corn tortillas can only take so much resistance without ripping, the small chop steak will allow you to over fill them and allow you to take a full bite without this thing collapsing in your lap (these are three bites max so get plenty of them if it's a meal). I ordered two for a drive-by snack for $3.50 excluding a nice tip. It was a sampling that will bring me back for sure....

The server looked at with a smile and slight confusion. We realized they were not yet open! I felt like a dunce. We offered to come back. She made sure we were comfortable, provided several laughs, and advised that the chef was preparing. The ambiance was so inviting and the overall vibe was great so waiting was not even a concern. We started with the wings. Oh my! They were out of this world. I can only assume (because I didn't ask) that they were soy garlic, and oh so yummy. Extremely tender and moist, with more flavor than any wing should have. My Daughter ordered the chilli oil noodles. They were a medium spice packed with flavor. My finance ordered hot and spicy noodles that didn't hold back. They were as described with the perfect about of heat. She'd felt they would have benefited from a bit of sweetness, but were delicious. I thought they were great. I ordered the mongoose Dan Dan noodles. They were also delicious. The noodles themselves were the star I feel. They had the perfect amount of bounce giving an authenticity I didn't expect. I tried all three dishes and my favorite was the hot and spicy noodles but my daughter gave her leftovers to her boyfriend! I was offended but I survived. We shared a slice of pistachio cake that was truly special. The server told us it was amazing but we didn't expect it to be that good. It was super moist, not overly sweet, and was nothing less than perfect. Totally unexpected. This is a true gem.
