Dr. Garcia has been my dentist in Austin for the past few years. He was recommended to me by a couple of coworkers. I've only had cavity fillings and teeth cleanings done here, but they turned out fine and were painless for the most part. Dr. Garcia has a great bedside manner. He seems like an energetic, talented, and gentle dentist. His bedside manner is really outstanding--I hated visiting the dentist when I lived in Houston and after high school, went ten years without visiting a dentist. Now that Dr. Garcia is my dentist, I no longer dread dental visits as much as I used to. For me at least, bedside manner helps ease any pain. His nurse Rose and receptionist Irene are also nice and both have been working there for a long time. Their office is very efficient. Unlike a few unscrupulous dentists/doctors who might recommend almost unnecessary or cosmetic procedures just to make more money, Dr. Garcia is honest about what procedures require more immediate treatment and doesn't push you to get unnecessary procedures. His office is in a building close to the Southeast corner of 290 and Cameron Rd. It's on the south side of 290, just a little past that intersection. read more

I've been to a few different dentists in my day and Dr. Garcia is by FAR the best dentist I've ever been to. Everything about his office is genuinely kind and professional. From the receptionist, to the dental assistants to Dr. Garcia himself. Everyone is extremely courteous and efficient. I've been coming to Dr. Garcia for over 3 years but the last visit finally pushed me over the edge to scream from the mountain-tops how good his office truly is. After suffering through a long weekend with a throbbing toothache, I called first thing Monday morning for their first available appointment. After hearing what my problem was, I was in their chair five hours later. Dr. Garcia took the time to explain what was going on, my options and once decided, how we would proceed. During the procedure, he kept me apprised of everything that was going on and his bedside manner was impeccable. I'm not a fan of shots, sharp instruments in my mouth or pain, but somehow he made all that tolerable and of all things, pleasant. There was no rush in him spending time with me afterwords to make sure I knew what to expect, what our next steps would be and even gave me his cell phone number in case I had any problems over the next few days. I absolutely adore Dr. Garcia! He is kind, genuine, and good at what he does. The ladies that assist him in the office are just as lovely and efficient at their jobs. On one occasion I had a filling come out (not one he did) and they got me in the next day for repair. He does the cleaning himself and examines at the same time which works out very well for the sake of time and he also gets a better look at the teeth. While nothing fancy, the office is clean and comfortable and the window from the treatment chair looks out onto trees and foliage which I find soothing, at least until he tilts back the chair and starts drilling. Dr. Garcia is on the other side of town from me. I got lost trying to find his office and with the exception of having my wisdom teeth out - got some of the worst news in the history of my teeth! Despite that, I still consider this office five stars! Dr. Garcia and his staff are great! Very calm and friendly and communicative about things that might be painful. It's been too long since I've been to a dentist and nobody made me feel like a bad person because of it. The building and office were very nice. (Hidden behind a ton of trees so the building is easy to miss) Everyone was friendly, there was very little pain during my cleaning (which Dr. Garcia did himself ) and he gave me a full explanation of what was wrong - why it was wrong and what I needed to do from now on! He accepts my insurance (Metlife) as well but is I think the only doctor on the Austin list who isn't part of some huge dental conglomerate. I've just moved to Austin and I move enough to know that finding doctors is a trial and error proposition. I am happy to have found such a great dentist right off the bat! read more

I recently switch from My Dentist near Steck ave. The old dude sold the place to a dermatology center in the same location. The owner turned the place into a hustle. You don't won't to hustle the hustler. I was onto their game and switched to this dude Richard. He just finished a bridge for me, his work was awesome. The attention to detail and paying attention when I was feeling the nerve was amazing. Some people numb up different. It took me four shots and we got that bridge temp to fit perfect. I guarantee you the other place would have wisked me out the door collected and said don't let the door hit you in the behind. This Dr walks you through it and explains as he goes. They never answer the phone. I called three times to cancel an appointment on same day which I gave them plenty of notice. My appt. was at 1:30 I called them at 11:00 the rude lady calls me at 2:15 and asks me if I am coming to my appt still? lmao I said I left you two messages hrs ago! I then told her I needed to reschedule, she said they will only reschedule once and accused me of a no call no show?? To say the least they are terrible, maybe if they checked their messages they could run a business better. Why would I want a dentist working on my teeth that can not even run a office ? I went here entirely based on Tracey's review (Thanks Tracey) and because Dr. Garcia is one of the few non Castle dentists covered by MetLife plan. He was very nice and 1) didn't chastise me about the state of my teeth (I was born that way, okay???) 2) didn't push any cosmetic or extensive procedures. 3) didn't take forever. The entire visit (xray to teeth cleaning) took 45 minutes 4) didn't pawn me off on a hygenist--he does all the work himself. I'd recommend him, though if you want frills (satelitte radio, nitrous, TV on the ceiling, etc), this is not for you. It's a barebones room with a pleasant view of the trees outside. read more

I had a GREAT experience. I had not seen a dentist in over 2 years and feared the worse. I was super glad I only needed a cleaning. Dr. Garcia and his entire staff were super friendly, patient, courteous, considerate, professional and really took the time to listen and care. He offered break-times during the cleaning and made sure I was in no discomfort. He encouraged my new flossing habits and even went over the technique to maximize results. Dr. Garcia also showed me a tooth-brushing technique that will improve my results. He provided me with a new toothbrush and mouthwash at the end of the visit. Definitely no sales pitches were given and no unproved diagnoses either. I even asked him for probable additional procedures and he said they were not needed/necessary, but that we will continue to monitor the concerns I had between now and the next cleaning. Initial paperwork was a breeze. Its true that this place is not some ultra-fancy, 3-d pictures/animation of your teeth kind of place. If you like that kind of place, expect to pay loads for it (I have and never will again). I am 31 years old and remember dentists treating patients very well with not so amazing technology. My only concern is that the administrative assistant at the front desk might be either a little overworked or distracted when answering the phone. When I called the office for the first time, she answered all of my questions (I had many), but all of the answers seemed rather rushed. I almost did not go to this office as a result. Please remember that patient, courteous phone calls will bring business through the door. I work for the for a local government office. I will share my great experience with them if asked. He's filled 3-5 cavities and done one crown now. I haven't had a single problem with the work. My favorite part of all this was that he asked me what kind of crown I wanted. This basically equates to aesthetics vs how much tooth and durability of the crown. Porcelain looks like tooth, but metal is thinner and more durable. Because this is a molar I went with metal because a previous porcelain turned into a root canal. Staff is friendly, and Dr Garcia always checks to see if I have a problem or need a break while working. He took the time to explain to me how I was brushing/flossing wrong. Not just tell me I need to do it more, but how I can do it better (including a demonstration). The only thing that I'm not sure on is how fast I'd get in if I had an emergency. This is an important attribute in a dentist. Fortunately I haven't had any emergencies due to the fact his work has been excellent. His office is small and not super modern (not to say it's out of date), so if you're looking for the shiniest office in town, with every single modern gadget, this is not the best place. However if you're looking for quality work and experience this seems to be a sure bet. read more

Dr. Garcia is the best dentist I've ever had. I unfortunately moved out of state and I miss having him as my dentist. He is kind and doesn't guilt you about your teeth. He is also understanding that the dentist cost money and is conservative in his treatments. The office staff is great too! I came in because I was about to move and knew I needed to get a last checkup and my wisdom teeth removed. They set up the wisdom teeth removal from a great oral surgeon very quickly and did all the work for me. I found Dr. Garcia on yelp when I still lived off Cameron Rd. I've since moved to the Domain area, which tells you how loyal I am to his office. Everyone who works there is amazingly friendly and welcoming, and I've never had any problems with their service. Dr. Garcia is a great dentist with a warm demeanor, and explains whatever procedure he is doing with frequent "breaks" in case you need a breather. I'd definitely recommend him to anyone searching for a new dentist! read more

Dr. Garcia and his staff are the nicest. He gave me the most thorough exam I've had and did the entire cleaning himself. Then he spent time showing me exactly how to brush and floss. Most dentists leave all that to the hygienists and simply touch up the cleaning. He let me know where my areas for improvement were and what options I had to take care of them. I wasn't surprised to see the 5 star rating for Dr. Garcia.I was a college student in my 20's when I first came to his office, he was just as highly recommended by his patients back in the 1980's. He is the reason my daughter "loved" to go the dentist. She saw Dr. Garcia at age 6, she is 23 now. I couldn't recommend a better dentist than Dr. Garcia, he is gentle, professional, very skilled, I had all my wisdom teeth removed by him, never had any pain and he does excellent work. Unlike my daughter, I had some not so great experiences seeing other dentists when I was a child so I am one of those people that are a bit afraid of the "dentists chair". I've been with Dr. Garcia since I was a child. He's a WONDERFUL dentist. He's also genuinely a great person! I have recommended him to Austin newcomers, but they have gone to other dentists... not b/c they didn't like him or want to try him. They had alternate insurance difficulties. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! After a long commitment in Cedar Park for my orthodontia, I switched to a location that was closer to house upon their closing. Dr. Garcia was unable to complete simple tasks and the training of his staff was insufficient. Being a prior Dental Assistant myself, I could easily see problems swarming everywhere within the dentistry. The tools did not even seem sanitized. The below reviews cannot be real from actual customers. I would not recommend this dentistry to anyone! I hope further action is taken with "Dr." Garcia in the future. read more

When my dentist, who was awesome, decided to move away, I didn't know what I was gonna do. I searched through at least a 100 dentists in austin that accepted my insurance. After reading a review about Dr Garcia on yelp, I decided to give him a try, expecting no one to be as good as my last dentist. Boy, was I wrong. Dr. Garcia was awesome. Him and his staff were so nice. Dr. Garcia did my teeth cleaning himself and NEVER tried to push anything extra on me like some other dentists have. He was kind, funny, and I like the fact that he's independent and not part of some big conglomerate dental group. When I left that day, I felt so good about him, I recommended him to all my friends. Dr. Ricky is really fabulous. I have been going to him for about 10 years and he is the first dentist that ever described the status of my teeth and what I could expect in future years. I just went yesterday and everything about the visit was excellent! First but not too too important was the building was very nice his office was kinda fancy from my other dentist office cozy is the word then the nurses assistant was very welcoming and nice as well When the dentist walked in he didn't criticize my teeth and just showed me the correct way to clean(The first time my dentist took the time to show me how to "correctly" brush and floss) and trust me I think ALOT of people don't know the correct way but thanks to Dr.Garcia I am not one of them anymore! I saw Dr. Garcia for the first time today. I agree with all the previous comments about his terrific bedside manner and the hassle-free process of making an appointment and being seen. When I first called, I was able to get an appointment within a week and a half. When I arrived at the office, I didn't wait more than ten minutes before being seen by the hygienist for x-rays. Dr. Garcia did the cleaning which was essentially pain-free. What I particularly liked was that before even looking at my teeth, he screened me for oral/head and neck manifestations of potential medical conditions. Sometimes these things can be picked up by the dentist, yet it's rarely done. Then he reviewed my X-rays with me and did the cleaning, explaining the relevant pathophysiology and proper dental care. Some people may want more high-tech gadgetry, which there wasn't any of, but one would also have to pay for that.
