    Rib meal

It took a minute to get seated, but no big deal. Server was nice. I ordered the ribs and my brother ordered a salad. It was just so-so, not bad, not great. Likely will not be back.

    Blue Moon draft sans orange

The reviews here were mediocre but I liked the menu. So I tried to chance it. I ordered a Blue Moon on draft (they didn't have oranges which was fine but later I overheard they didn't have limes either.) I ordered a one meat plate with sliced brisket, okra, and corn on the cob. The brisket was cold and extremely tough. I'm not sure I've ever had brisket I wouldn't eat again. I combined the fire bbq sauce and traditional sauce to get a fairly good flavor but the meat was almost too tough to chew. Even the toast was cold and pretty crunchy.

Best damned ribs we've ever had. Falling off the bone good. Both dry and sticky you can't go wrong. Omgosh. Delicious!

    Bleh sides.

My husband and I picked up rib crib after a 10 hour drive before heading to our hotel for the night. I can confidently say this is the worst bbq I've ever had. The ribs did not feel or look like real meat. The dry rub had a terrible aftertaste. And the sides were just mediocre at best. Save your $40 and pick up McDonald's. You're better off.

Went with the Grilled Italian Sausage because pasta on top of pasta is just wrong. Grilled perfectly with a char on the ends! Really good flavor and pairs really well with the sketti/rav mixture. Meatballs cooked right with plenty of sauce. Definite leftover but why be greedy and ask for seconds just to take it home. Single person serving was way more than enough. Then again when my waiter brings extra meatballs and ravioli I am in heaven! Thought about dessert which is a toss up between the Cannoli and the Chocolate Devine. Think perhaps the Italian Creme Cake though. Italian Creme Cake to Go

Years ago, the food was amazing all handmade. Our family had been coming here from years ago. Bill preacher gave my uncle his rosary and told him I am not giving this to you. You were to bring it back and that's one of the first things My uncle did when he came back from World War II . Bill and Betty are no longer there and things have changed, of course because time has changed. However, it was wonderful coming back to reminisce with one of my dearest friends that remembers all the old times before the big remodel. As a matter of fact, my uncle was privileged to get to Cook spaghetti with Bill and my uncle taught us how to do it like they did years ago. As far as our visit today there the waitress was very friendly, but she knew nothing about the history of Petes. When we were checked out, it was the same thing. They were very friendly, but they knew nothing about the history of the place, which is a little sad to me. They have a lot of the memorabilia on the walls, but none of their staff we met knew anything about the history. We did have some food we wanted to take to go. They brought us to go containers however, again back in the day they would have packaged it up for us. I wish this new Petes lots of luck and lots of business. I do wish it was back like it was : same old recipes and learn the history because there was great people years ago that founded this place.

I occasionally stop in for classic deli meat sandwiches on sliced bread. Let's be honest, we all know a plain ol' sandwich on light bread is way better when someone else makes it for you. I again had Oliver's Sandwich--it's not on the menu but it's buttered and toasted bread, topped with fried bologna, a perfectly fried egg, benefited by the addition of crisp bacon, then American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onion, and dressed with both mayo and mustard. Like take me back home to the days of my summer youth!! So tasty and perfect for lunch! No sides were needed because its a big sandwich and is incredibly filling. Maybe room for improvement with a slice of cheddar instead of American but it's already so so good as is. TJs also has a menu offering a variety of options like different types of burgers (bacon, Swiss, patty melt, etc), hot sandwiches, a variety of cold sandwiches, and sides like tots or fries. I've before had a couple burgers and they've all been good, it's just this is my go to place for fried bologna sandwiches. The store has lots of drinks, chips, snacks, and hotbox items to choose from to accompany a meal. The ladies behind the kitchen counter are always accommodating and friendly, and they're quick to get the order made and served to the table if eating in. There's half a dozen tables near the cashiers counter that will seat up to 6-8 each. The tables are near windows so you can sit and watch outside too. It's busy, and there's most usually lots of people going in and out, getting fuel or bait. Stop for whatever is needed but if you desire a meal they certainly have worthwhile sandwiches.
