My only wish is that there would be better markings as to where the stops are located and how to get to the stop's main attraction after you get off. For the Dundrum Shopping Center, for example, I had to follow the crowds and guesstimate as to where the mall was located, since it wasn't apparent from the signs near the Luas. Also, it is closer to get off at the Balally stop than the Dundrum stop so would have been nice to know that as well.

Dublin's Luas (Gaelic for "Speed") is just as good as any mass transportation network there is. The trams are clean, modern, efficient and speedy. The stops seem to be more targeted for the locals than the tourists but they work fine. Ticket kiosks are easy to understand and if you purchase and put value on a Leap card, you'll save a bunch and not have to be concerned with tickets. Just tap and go plus they work on the buses. I've not been asked to verify my ticket. I am sure that they do check them, but I've not seen it happen. The Green Line (of course it's green - this is Ireland!) opened in 2004 and with the addition of the Red Line a few years later, there are now 67 stations and enough miles of track to host a marathon. With stations across the city, the Red and Green lines get you just about anywhere except the airport. For that, you need a bus. Like lots of cities, Dublin's International Airport is a good ways from downtown. I felt as safe on the Dublin Luas as I did on any other metro anywhere. The two intersect each other in a simple cross shape, so it's impossible to get lost. Just make sure you are going in the right direction. Green basically runs north to south, and Red runs West to East. The lines also connect to commuter trains that will get you to further places outside the city. For example, I was able to transfer over to the DART train to visit the village of Howth.

Even returning to a red sunset and stopping off anywhere for a stroll along the coast(especially between Dun Laoghaire and Booterstown). Keep an eye out for the odd bit of poetry printed around the inside walls of your carriage, and more recently, the occasional massive billboard with prints from Rasher. The DART supports art, apparently. Don't forget though, no matter how much more comfortable it is, ní do chosa suíochán!

Compared to the bustling village awaiting in the centre of town when you initially dismount the tram you could be forgiven for thinking you were in the wrong place as the stop is perpendicular to leafy residential roads of the affluent Rathmines suburbs and generally very isolated in both look and feel. In recent years the stop has since been teeming with students from Trinity College Dublin whose halls of residence are situated at the top of Temple Road, an upper class road populated with expensive houses and a chapel. The Canadian ambassador also lives here in a fine-looking mansion. Furthermore, a girl's school runs vertical to the Luas stop and so the foremost sights here are scruffy students and an abundance of groomed secondary school children in a perceptible red and white uniform.

Appreciated his solicitousness! The train itself was very quick-got us to Temple Bar within 10 mins and much cheaper than a cab. I'll be using the DART heaps more on my next visit! Nothing says "urban modernity" like a light-rail viaduct! This station marks the transition between…read morea fairly ordinary suburban rail line and the brilliant urban streetcar portion. It would have been easy to make this station the terminus and pretend that the southern neighborhoods were adequately serviced, but continuing bravely into Stephen's Green was a bold decision. I think about that, as our ultramodern train glides through Charlemont and down into the busy streets among 400 year old houses. This city is awesome.

The location is very nicely lit and the design of it is very easy to navigate and figure out, even if it is your first time here. There is security all around so I felt safe while I was here, waiting for my tour to begin. I will say I do wish there was more seating because as soon as I got up to grab a coffee, people were trying to swoop in and take my spot. I also wish there was heating here, I felt like an ice cube while I was waiting around in the seating area. There is a handful of places to grab some food and drinks and the coffee stands had some reasonably priced coffee that I decided to get while waiting. The flavor was nice and helped keep me warm while I sat and waited! Bathrooms were also very clean but got busy very quick when the station started getting more and more people in as the morning was progressing.

There are nine train platforms as well as bus routes and the Luas stop in front. I found the station easy to navigate with good signage and smooth floors. It is completely accessible with a big board showing Iarnród Éireann departures. Many food vendors with grab and go sandwiches, snacks, drinks, coffee and the like. The station was built in 1846 as Kingsbridge station. It was renamed in 1966 for Seán Heuston, one of the executed leaders of the 1916 Easter Rising who had worked in the station's offices. Its a bus, what can i say? its got 4 wheels, a driver and lets passengers on and off from the…read morefront door. Certainly the transport in Dublin could be better especially i am sorry to say on the northside which does not have the benefit of the Luas and now will never seemingly have the metro but losing buses from the city just is not going to answer that problem and so few of the buses even go anywhere near my job anymore so i have no choice but to use my car. The 83 bus trip has become a bit of an around the world because recently they got rid of the number 19 bus and now the 83 has tried taking in its route too which means you are sitting on the bus while it goes up and down extra roads which were not previously on the route but at least they have free wifi on the buses so now you can spend time checking out what is going on in the rest of the world.
