Brought my car in for a 65,000 mile service. After about 10 minute working on the car, I was told they were unable to remove the tire because the wheel locks were on too tight (it was blamed on the Toyota dealer in Chicago, I do not do my own maintenance). I was told everything was ok, and left. 4000 miles later, I was charge by the Toyota dealer in Chicago $260 to replace and install the new tire locks. Rhinelander Toyota had "totally barbequed" them (this is what I was told by the Chicago dealership). In addition, I would have been UNABLE to replace the tire if it got flat, and I could have been stranded far away in northern Wisconsin. Rhinelander Toyota refused to take responsibility (I wanted to be reimbursed $260) initally, then offered $60. I simply want my $260 but they are being rude and disrespectful. I have filed a complaint with the BBB. This is why people think corporations are stacked against them. DO NOT RECOMMEND. read more

I have had work done on all my Toyota cars for the 15 years we have lived here and today will be the last. There is now a 3% charge to use a credit card. It's one thing for a small local business but a corporation like Toyota no way. read more

Waste of time. Our "sales person" could not answer most of our questions. We were looking at 3 different models. His continued response was "I don't know, I haven't been here long". He said he doesn't work for commission and I asked if we could possibly speak to someone who could answer our questions. I asked twice and he said he would get a manager but didn't make an effort to do so. The final straw was when we realized he had given us the wrong info on the vehicle we thought we wanted to purchase. We will spend our 70k with another dealer. Maybe they should go back to working for commission so they have a vested interest in actually helping customers. It simply felt like we had a shadow following us around with nothing to offer. One thing I do not like is being surprised upon arrival. I called to make my appointment for an oil change, tire rotation and the fact that my hood won't open. No problem sir, probably take about two hours. Get here and am informed of a diagnostic fee of "up to $180" to figure out the hood. Don't they get an hourly service fee already? Drove over 2 hours to look at 2 vehicles on their lot! Filthy!! Dirty cars inside and out! One had chocolate milk or something all spilled on the center counsel!! Both of them full of scrathes!! I don't live or work in Rhinelander but after trying to get an oil change done elsewhere, I called Rhinelander Toyota. Not only did they get me in the next day I arrived before the shop even opened. Prepared to wait in my car for 15 min till they opened I was surprised when they immediately got me in. This shop goes above and beyond to take care of people! The staff was pleasant and made sure I was comfortable and had some fresh coffee while I waited. Then in no time they had me off and on my way to work. I just can't say enough about the staff and quality of service from this business. They come highly recommended not just the service department but sales as well. read more

What an incredible experience and sales staff!!!!! After test driving way too many vehicles over a two week time period, Debbie started getting to know me and found a car I didn't even know I wanted. I usually dislike Dealerships, but the service is impeccable and fast. They greet you with your name, are friendly and you come to know the Service staff over time. They give you solid advice. Hoodwinked by the auto sales person on the phone and by the sales manager after extensive conversation post facto. After arriving to view two Toyota Tacoma trucks (I drove six hours to see these two, I know, my fault), one had a clearly "musky/smoky" smell to the cabin and the second vehicle had a 4" suspension and 2" body lift in combination with over-sized / mudding tires. Two days prior, when I had called to speak with the sales rep, I had specifically asked about smoke or pet odors and was told neither vehicle had such smell. After meeting the sales rep, I found out he smokes heavily, causing obvious nasal fatigue. Also, I was not informed the second vehicle was almost eight inches taller than advertised; the car's written description provided on their website as being 'stock suspension and stock tires'. False advertising and misrepresentation on two accounts. The sales manager was originally profusely apologetic when I complained and VOLUNTEERED that the dealership would be reimburse me for the 121.68 in gas I spent to come buy a vehicle, however, reneged his promise immediately after I was off the lot. He claimed the first vehicle, in his "expert opinion of many years selling cars" did not smell like smoke, and that the pictures posted "obviously" showed that the car had a suspension lift. He was previously provided him the dealer-advertised written material clearly advertising the second truck as stock suspension/tires. Clearly, I disagree. read more

First off I'd like to say that I really don't like going to dealerships, I always feel like they are taking advantage of you. This however was not the case with Rhinelander Toyota! They messed up on the price of a 2020 trd pro 4 runner and honored the price. The buying process was painless, and they looked and multiple options that would be in my favor. I bought a plane ticket to Minneapolis and arrived early to get a start on the 13 HR drive back. Unbeknownst to me Rhinelander is 4 hrs away from Minneapolis (where the flight was $74), Austin McCowan was an awesome sales consultant, he's not paid on commission so he was happy to see me get such a great deal. So when Austin met me at the airport he had to leave his house by 5 am to make it by the time I landed, if that's not customer service I don't know what to tell you. You should definitely give him a call if you are looking for a vehicle, he'll go above and beyond. I'm sure one day soon he will be running the place, which is a good thing for potential customers. So do I recommend Rhilender automotive, let's just say if I need a vehicle from now on I will be calling Austin, and flying out to see him and I live in Colorado! My son (Jeff) purchased a Certified Used 2011 Highlander from Walter at Rhinelander Toyota in December/2016. Walter explained Rhinelander Toyota's "Satisfaction Guarantee" and those thoughtful, well crafted policy words earned Jeff's trust, so he agreed to pay the high KBB price. Walter was great, helpful and kind but he unwittingly sold a vehicle that had rust, which had been disguised and painted over. A few months later the paint bubbled and when Jeff brought this to Rhinelander Toyota's attention he was brushed off and dismissed. One might assume a Certified Used vehicle wouldn't have rust but don't put that past Rhinelander Toyota. Really hoped they would make it right but they didn't. Finally decided to Yelp about it when I talked to another person who had a similar experience. Jeff is the second owner of this vehicle, he found the original owners information in glove compartment and contacted her. She explained that she in fact purchased the Highlander from Rhinelander Toyota and purchased Toyota Care with it. All maintenance and service was done thru Rhinelander Toyota but the paint repair was subcontracted to an individual who ended up going to prison for insurance fraud. I've never written a negative review and always give people the benefit of doubt but something needed to be said in this regard. Lastly, when Jeff originally purchased the Highlander he was only given 1 set of keys. The previous owner had explained to Jeff that she had turned in 2 sets of keys, so Jeff asked for the second set. Rhinelander Toyota denied having a second set and insisted he had to buy a second set of keys. After hours of research, phone calls and letters the second set of keys mysteriously turned up in a gift bag. Funny how that works huh....lol. Sad but true story. God Bless, Joan E read more

Hands down best purchase, service and parts experience I've ever had. I was in contact with Derek one of the many wonderful sales consultants on a Toyota Highlander. I was met with questions regarding expectations such as mileage, options, certification etc. Within a few minutes I was given options which met most of my criteria. But as fixed as I am on exactly what I wanted, I was not willing to comprise. I was then told that he would look for what I wanted instead of being pushed into something I didn't. But, within a few days I was notified of a lease trade in minutes after it was at the dealership by both Paul the sales manager and Derek my consultant. Which met all of my criteria, perfect! I purchased a used vehicle from this place back in May 2015. The second day I had it, they had to send a tow to come pick it to replace the battery and alternator. From November 2015 to present, I have had NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS with the car. Head gaskets, ignition, radiator and now, I'm guessing, it's the fuel pump. I called and talked to a Sales MANAGER when my head gaskets went out (couldn't drive it for a month and a half) I was supposed to get a call back and never did. I got sold a crappy lemon car and I am pissed that I wasted my time and money with this place. Go somewhere else. read more

Let me start by saying We love Toyota! However this Rhinelander dealership has HORRIBLE customer service. We received a safety recall letter in the mail for our Toyota Tundra. We purchased it brand new in 2000, in Iowa. We called Rhinelander Toyota and verified it was indeed for our Tundra. We made an appointment and dropped it off. We do not live in town, it is about 30 mins home. We had just walked in the door when we had a call informing us that we needed to come pick up the truck, it was not under warranty, because it was purchased in IA. They did not even look at the truck because of that. (keep in mind we had to take off work to do this) Then a couple of months we get another letter, from Toyota stating we need to bring in it, and its cover if we currently live in WI. We called customer service (not Rhinelander) and was informed that Rhinelander filed a false claim that there was not any rust on our cross members or spare tire holder. Keep in mind, when we had a flat tire, it took two guys with a sledge hammer and cheater bar to break it loose from the spare tire holder. I would not trust anything they say or do in the service department. Its worth the drive to go to Wausau or another dealer if you can. read more
