Who is the best doctor at Rheumatolgy Associates?

I've been seeing Dr. Rehman for years, but the actual best practitioner there is NP Laura Becker. Good luck!

My experience has been like this: The doctor and P.A. I've seen are cordial but cold, and they…read moreoffer little in the bedside manner department. The office staff and medical assistants are lukewarm (and at times, borderline incompetent). Sometimes, there's a sense of thinly veiled hostility underneath the surface, as if they all hold you in contempt. I've only encountered one person in the whole office who I can say has always been genuinely friendly instead of detached, like everyone else seems to be. As far as the appointments themselves: The first visit, they'll take their time with you and act as though you're important; every subsequent visit, you'll feel rushed, like they have more important things to do (unfortunately, this is common with many types of doctors these days, but it doesn't mean that it's right). Word of advice, the "rushed" feeling is far worse with the doctor than the P.A.. I call my visits with the doctor, "drive-bys." They all (the entire office) need to work on their LISTENING SKILLS; they cut you off in mid-sentence and seldom allow you to complete a thought, and you'll find yourself repeating the same things over and over every visit (reading a chart before-hand obviously takes too much time). I've been told one thing on one appointment, then a completely different thing on another appointment (if you do decide to go here, a word of advice: take someone with you so you don't think you're going crazy when this happens). You'd think that compassion would be a high-priority for a pain management practice, but not here (I've seen very little since becoming a patient). Also, I think it's important for a medical professional to get to know you as well as they possibly can because everyone's perception of pain and how they deal with that pain is different, but SMART can't even be bothered to associate your face with your name (also common nowadays, I know, but you deserve better). However, they have no problem whatsoever with fleecing both you and your insurance company under the guise of treating that pain. Yes, you will be billed (and billed and billed and billed). You know how sometimes you walk into a medical establishment and you can just tell that they're in it for the patient? And how other times you walk into a medical establishment and you can just tell that they're in it for the money? This establishment is an example of the latter. I thought that pain management would be wonderful, that I'd finally have someone in the medical profession who cares and sympathizes with my chronic pain and who'd help me deal with it comfortably; I was so wrong. It's unfortunate that there aren't many other pain doctors in my area, but you'd better believe that as soon as I find one, I'll be a FORMER patient.

Discharged me under false pretenses! It's an illegal practice, but look under reviews and you'll…read moresee there's a pattern of this. Thankfully their good standing in the community doesn't exist, so it didn't prevent me from receiving care elsewhere. Have had wonderful care in the years since at a practice in Bowie. Worth the drive to avoid this nightmare practice!
