Score card, wine glasses, and cheese!
    Stacy P.

This place can get pretty popular, so it doesn't hurt to make your reservation ahead of time (which is very easy to do on their website). Just an FYI! So, what to expect? When you show up for your cheese tasting, you'll head downstairs and take a seat at one of the dozen or so tables they've got set up. In front of you will be several wine glasses, a "score card," some water, and - of course - the cheese. Your guide will soon follow, and you're off for about an hour's worth of CHEESE! What could be better? :) You'll taste five (or six? I can't remember, probably due to all the wine) wonderful cheeses starting, of course, from mild and moving on through the more potent selections. Nothing is truly "mild" by the crappy standards of much American cheese, but nothing should be so overwhelming that you are unable to indulge, either. You'll get some great information on the company, how they make their cheese, and what kind of wine to drink with the different types of cheese. Oh, yeah - the wine. It's kind of glossed over on the website, but they don't mess around! You will be served several different kinds of wine - from white to red to port - and if you finish your glass, they're likely to top you off! Make sure to drink some water, too. Big tip - DEFINITELY spring for the ticket that comes with the "take home" bag. My friend and I both did, and the cheese all traveled very well back to the states. So, you can bring it back for your own enjoyment, or as gifts - or, of course, you can enjoy the wonderful cheese during the rest of your stay in Amsterdam. I think it was only €5 more expensive, and you'll walk out with three wedges of wonderful cheese.

I thought that this place was overrated. We did the cheese tasting with Betty, which lasted about one hour and was about €20 per person. There were eight people total in our session. Betty walked us through looking at, smelling, tasting, and describing the six different cheeses, and she told us about the history of the company and the differences between the types of cheese. She also poured several generous glasses of wine and port. It was fun and I think I have better understanding of cheese now, but I don't think it was that great, especially given the price.

Reypenar is one of the best and unique cheese chops in Amsterdam. Located in the heart of Amsterdam's canal district. I absolutely love this place! This is simply one of the best places to sample, taste, purchase and enjoy Dutch cheese. I bought several different flavors of Dutch cheese here. Reypenar is a dutch gourmet cheese, which is ripen and aged to perfection. Spend a fabulous day venturing around the ninth street. Sampling wine and cheese at one of the most unique Historic Cheese shops in Holland. Make sure to check out their cheese tasting workshop to sample the best wine and abundant choices of cheese in Holland. You will simply love this place! It's consider one of the top ten historic sights in Amsterdam. You will find so many wonderful shops, restaurants, bars, and cafes in this historical neighborhood.

Sign up online in advance for the tasting in the cellar and you will not regret it! You get to taste all the cheeses and some wine and have a better idea of what you like. 15% off everything after the class including the guillotine cutter and cheese grater.

This was one of my highlights while in Amsterdam (along with the Heineken Experience, Dutch pancakes, and the beautiful canals). For 15 Euros per person, you can participate in a Dutch cheese tasting class which takes place in their classroom underneath the shop. The class is extremely informative, and the instructor discusses in Dutch, English, Spanish and several other languages. The class includes six Dutch cheeses which are all made by the company, and they are paired with a variety of white and red wines. The class lasts about an hour and a half, and you get a 15% discount on purchases following the class. The cheeses are packaged so that they are safe to travel on the plane, including to the U.S. The store is located on a quaint little bridge that is accompanied by a few bars/cafes along the water. The cafes are great to have a snack or drink before/after your cheese tasting.

Excellent cheese shop with samples of almost everything! We did the cheese tasting class which comes with wine and a taste of their uber-expensive truffle wine mustard as well as lots and lots of cheese.

who moved my cheese to amsterdam!? it all started with an order for gouda from SG. gouda? or "how-da"? yes, i am kind of an international personal shopper to some. personally, i'm a brie kind of person. 吃软不吃硬, kind of person. and was never quite a fan of gouda, until now! but i'll never look at a piece of gouda the same way again! this was a life changing experience for me, quite possibly because i have been consuming rubbish touristy gouda instead of the good stuff that they ripen here! so when a colleague pointed me this way and gave me his loyalty card that entitled me to a discount, score! next, i ran their name by flip and flip's endorsement immediately sealed the deal for me! you can always count on her, for sure!;) what? free wifi?! yay, check in please! a small but well organized shop that is visually pleasing to the eyes. generous free samples in a help yourself cheese buffet way. even the pigeons love to venture in for their cheese! clearly marked prices and description for each type of gouda that they carry. individually vacuum wrapped in different sizes, ready to travel. be it their award winning, VSOP, XO or goat's gouda, every one is exceptional in it's own right! so it depends on how much luggage or fridge space you have or how much cheese you can eat and/or how fast? i personally like the complexity of the aged gouda and how the sweet cheese crystals, thus formed, helped to give them an added dimension. helpful english speaking staff who gave me the loyalty discount post purchase because i forgot, in my moment of cheestacy, to show my card prior to buying. wax paper will also be provided for proper storage of your cheese wedges after you have removed the vacuum wrap. lastly, do remember to say cheese and snap a selfie!;)

Did the cheese tasting and really loved it. You get to try six cheeses made by the cheese shop and fill out a fun card about the cheeses you try. The speaker was really engaging and nice. Really enjoyed all six cheeses, including the goat ones which I typically dislike. Wish we knew about the boat tour attached would have saved us some money!

Explore everything here! We came to Dutch Delicacy on pure accident, as we were walking around and saw that they had a ton of different goudas for sale. In the front part of the store is a take-out counter where they sell hot items, like sandwiches and baked pastries and desserts, like cheesecakes and cookies the size of your face! It all looked appealing and would've totally purchased a food item, had we not had lunch beforehand. Throughout the store were the cheese samples of the many different various kinds. It goes beyond what you thought gouda could be. There are sheep's and goat's cheeses for many of the different types. There are pesto cheeses that come in different colors like a bright blue and pink. There are cheeses that pair well with the dips that had me thinking about my next dinner party. There's Dutch chocolate here for sale. There's different knives for cutting cheese. There's truly everything here you could imagine for your gouda-filled meal. Staff was super friendly and asked if we needed any help or wanted to know more about any of the different cheeses. For sale, a lot of the goudas are pre-packaged for a pound and meets airline security measures for taking it home with you. I'm glad we stumbled upon Dutch Delicacy. We were able to try so many different cheeses, which I found a few for home. I recommend for anyone visiting Amsterdam to make a stop here; there's a lot of items you'll want to take home with you.

If you're a cheese lover like me then this store will be an absolute paradise…read more It took all I had in me not to roll those wheels back to our hotel. Honestly, the notorious Amsterdam staircases are what prevented that from taking place lol. Old Amsterdam makes some of the finest cheeses in the world today. They've been around a long time and are still extremely relevant in the dairy world. So much flavor and goodness in everything they produce. The store isn't large but they have a lot to offer. It's easy to move about inside. Employees are friendly. The samples flow freely.

Well enough to spend an additional 15min having our cheese swabbed in airport security. Yes, I took back an entire tote bag filled with a variety of cheeses (13 kinds) & yes, I took it as carry-on luggage. Yes, you CAN do that, though you may want to allow extra time for additional screening, as a bag full of cheese looks suspicious on the scanner. (Let them know ahead of time, so they flag it as odd contents and things go more smoothly) Tasting cheeses are readily available and you can taste literally EVERYTHING before you buy. Why then, with a bag filled with cheese do I give them 4 stars? Because it truly caters to tourists which resulted in higher pricing. Still, you buy KNOWING it can all fly back with you. For this particular shop, I highly recommend the vintage edition- the oldest cheese they sell- I bought 3 of them and already regret not getting more. While the brand is available stateside, that particular vintage is not.
