Went to their factory and loved the experience of cheese tasting. Wasn't sure if I should purchase or not. Read about them and realised all their cheese is from pasteurised milk and decided to buy the organic truffle cheese and what an amazing cheese it is!! It's got very beautiful after taste of truffle which I love. The variety of cheese this place offers is unreal. Definitely recommend this place.

    Cheese!

Fantastic cheese shop in the centre of Amsterdam. The best thing about it is the free samples - literally plates of every available cheese that you could help yourself to. This is like a red rag to a bull for me. Free cheese? of course I'm going to gorge myself until I'm sick! The shop is also beautifully presented and has some quirky objects inside such as large vats used to produce the cheese. As well as cheese, the shop also sells chocolate, waffles and sweets - more free samples here! I left with some goats cheese with herbs and a pesto flavoured cheese, as well as some caramel waffles (and a full tummy!). It's fairly expensive here but I think I must have eaten at least €5 worth while browsing so the higher prices are only fair.

Do you want to sample every type of Dutch cheese imaginable? OF COURSE YOU DO! Because obviously cheese will make you just like Doutzen Kroes. Henri Willig leaves open-air samples of all their cheese wheels in the most perfect portion: a little shaving. Taste-test as many as you'd like. I didn't want to risk bringing too many cheeses back to America (just kidding, ate it all in Europe), so I settled on one: the Holland Kaas with truffle. OMG. Shave this on a salad, or anything. It's so good. I'm amazed that I didn't eat it in one sitting. When pairing this cheese, I recommend a very mild cracker -- nothing too grainy, which would compete with the rich truffle. Also in the shop: stroopwafels (delicious, but totally accessible in the US or elsewhere and easily crushable in a suitcase) and other sweets. I settled on the cheese, because that's what this place does best. There are two other locations, though this is the only one I tried as it's in the central location near the main station. Enjoy!

Explore everything here! We came to Dutch Delicacy on pure accident, as we were walking around and saw that they had a ton of different goudas for sale. In the front part of the store is a take-out counter where they sell hot items, like sandwiches and baked pastries and desserts, like cheesecakes and cookies the size of your face! It all looked appealing and would've totally purchased a food item, had we not had lunch beforehand. Throughout the store were the cheese samples of the many different various kinds. It goes beyond what you thought gouda could be. There are sheep's and goat's cheeses for many of the different types. There are pesto cheeses that come in different colors like a bright blue and pink. There are cheeses that pair well with the dips that had me thinking about my next dinner party. There's Dutch chocolate here for sale. There's different knives for cutting cheese. There's truly everything here you could imagine for your gouda-filled meal. Staff was super friendly and asked if we needed any help or wanted to know more about any of the different cheeses. For sale, a lot of the goudas are pre-packaged for a pound and meets airline security measures for taking it home with you. I'm glad we stumbled upon Dutch Delicacy. We were able to try so many different cheeses, which I found a few for home. I recommend for anyone visiting Amsterdam to make a stop here; there's a lot of items you'll want to take home with you.

If you're a cheese lover like me then this store will be an absolute paradise…read more It took all I had in me not to roll those wheels back to our hotel. Honestly, the notorious Amsterdam staircases are what prevented that from taking place lol. Old Amsterdam makes some of the finest cheeses in the world today. They've been around a long time and are still extremely relevant in the dairy world. So much flavor and goodness in everything they produce. The store isn't large but they have a lot to offer. It's easy to move about inside. Employees are friendly. The samples flow freely.

You're going to see this exact same review 3x for all 3 shops as all 3 were equal in all areas…read more How much did we like it? Well enough to spend an additional 15min having our cheese swabbed in airport security. Yes, I took back an entire tote bag filled with a variety of cheeses (13 kinds) & yes, I took it as carry-on luggage. Yes, you CAN do that, though you may want to allow extra time for additional screening, as a bag full of cheese looks suspicious on the scanner. (Let them know ahead of time, so they flag it as odd contents and things go more smoothly) Tasting cheeses are readily available and you can taste literally EVERYTHING before you buy. Why then, with a bag filled with cheese do I give them 4 stars? Because it truly caters to tourists which resulted in higher pricing. Still, you buy KNOWING it can all fly back with you. For this particular shop, I highly recommend the vintage edition- the oldest cheese they sell- I bought 3 of them and already regret not getting more. While the brand is available stateside, that particular vintage is not.
