Plato Especial - this actually only one of THREE plates! This is the enchilada, black beans and rice!
Reggie B.

Wow! What a find in Laurel, Mississippi!!! We were in town and were looking for something other than fast food, chain restaurants and buffets. So, I grabbed my trusty Yelp! app and came upon this gem in my search. We were not disappointed!! I'll start by saying our guests, who live in Laurel, said "we'll go, but we don't like Mexican food." Welllllll, they ended the meal by saying, "We will DEFINITELY be back!" Since it was all of our first time, we wanted to try several dishes. We started with frozen margaritas - one pineapple and one peach. They were simply wonderful and priced 2-for-1. They weren't over the top sweet, but had lots of flavor. For the food, we ordered the Plato Especial, which included a Chile relleno, enchilada, taco, tostada and one more item that I cannot remember. It was accompanied by rice and black beans (you can also opt for refried pinto beans). We also ordered a backed potato with ground beef, which included cheese, peppers and onions. And finally, the House Quesadilla with chicken and shrimp. While each of tried each dish, we quickly laid claim to our favorites, and the only sound heard thereafter was "ummm", "oh my!", "OMG!", etc. The ambiance was great l! It wasn't overly crowded, so we were seated quickly. The were was a good crowd, with lots of conversation and laughter. It was my type of vibe for sure! In short, EVERYTHING was incredibly delicious! The flavors were perfect, the portions were HUGE and the per person price was an average of less than $12 including the tip!! Whether you're in Laurel to catch a glimpse of the folks from the HGTV show, "Hometown". Or, you are visiting friends/family; or, simply passing through; take the exit for Route 84 (16th Avenue). When you see Applebee's, turn onto the access road that runs beside Applebee's to enter the strip plaza where the restaurant is located. It's worth the trip!!

Without a doubt, the best Mexican restaurant in the area. The food, service and decor are all authentic and exceptional. The Burrito di Pollo with refried beans and rice is classic Mexican fare. The Mucho Burrito was a twist I had not seen before. The service was fantastic. The motif was also a twist with traditional and day of the dead. If I lived here, this would be my go to Mexican restaurant.

ABSOLUTELY GREAT MEAL ON A TUESDAY! Fantastic shrimp chimichanga & I am picky about my shrimp. It was cooked perfectly! I had black beans instead of rice & beans & I nearly licked my plate. I definitely will eat here again the next time I am here working next quarter.

Just like any other Mexican restaurant, nothing too special. Our waiter didn't speak English that well and never checked on us (no refill on drinks, didn't bring extra napkins, how's the food, nada). I think his name is Ishmael. They have gluten hidden inside their food. My friend and I went and we had a reaction. Make sure you ask and make you speak Spanish when you go. The restaurant is the driveway right before AppleBees (or after, depending on which way you're coming from) and hidden in the back, off the main road. The floor was clean, but our booth seats were dirty, that's not covid clean to me. No masks required to enter or leave. Go hungry because everything is super sized.

Great menu!

What a great stop! We picked it because it had a pretty good rating on yelp and we were new to town, and most everything else was closed. Jazmine our server was awesome. When I asked her what her favorite was she told me Arroz con Pollo - so that is what I ordered. Husband ordered the chimichanga. My dish was absolutely amazing we took half of it home and will eat it for breakfast in the morning. Husband loved his chimichanga. Jazmine was wonderful, attentive, and the food was great. My husband said he never expected such generous portions for such reasonable prices.

If you answered yes to all three questions then The Grill is for you. If you didn't, The Grill is still for you. See you there!

This dive joint is known simply as "The Grill" and is located on the exact edge of the city limits of Laurel, MS. Even though they are called "The Grill" they are not a restaurant and don't regularly sell food but they do sometimes have food along with a nice BBQ grill on their back patio. It is getting harder to find a classic dive bars like this and there is one bad aspect many dives share and that is some of them still allow smoking so for non-smokers like myself it is a bit hard to breathe in here with the nasty cigarette funk. They also have a limited selection of drinks with most of their beers being in cans although they serve your ice cold beer in a Koozie. The great news is the prices are cheap and the bartenders and patrons are friendly. The best thing about this joint is the awesome juke box that has a fantastic selection of music. This is a serious pool bar and they have two pool tables with cue sticks around the walls with people's names on them along with warnings not to touch their cues. Overall this is a great dive bar that really has that authentic ambiance which takes decades to build up. Not many tourists ever find this joint and many locals don't even know about this great dive bar so it is a great spot to hide away and have some fun. The lighting is a bit dim for our old eyes but otherwise it has the feel of a pub. We loved that. Our server was very nice and helpful. We ordered the bacon cheddar fries. The fries are like a cottage fries that are then cut into strips. Perfect fry on them. The bacon could have been crispier but great flavor and a good ranch. I had the KPauls pasta. We all enjoyed it. Pasta cooked perfectly al dente. If you love a saucy pasta this isn't for you. It is nice and creamy but not swimming in it. Big plump shrimp that tasted great. Also has chunks of chicken breast and sliced sausage. Uncle Jim got the red beans and rice. Great flavor but barely warm. The catfish is a thicker cut and battered in a coarsely ground corn meal. Aunt Robin had the shrimp and grits. Those were the star of the show. So creamy and incredible flavor. Very generous amount of nice sized shrimp. Mike had the Keg Stand burger. He requested the sauce on the side. It's definitely a unique flavor. Nice soft bun. The meat was grossly over cooked but would have been tasty had it not been so dry. The onion rings that came with the burger were soggy. Overall, enjoyed it. We know what to get next time. Shrimp and grits and KPauls pasta!!

I immediately went to my manager to let her know and she bursted out in LAUGHTER saying "this happens all the time matter of fact there's been maggots, roaches, snakes, fruit flies, and etc. in this kitchen." She did absolutely nothing about it except remove them from the machine. To me this was a slap in the face cause I had family and friends coming to this EXPENSIVE restaurant to eat and drink. It's also policy that employees were completely prohibited from bringing outside food so if we wanted to eat we were MADE to buy food from there unless you snuck your own food in. People are also blowing vape and weed pen smoke all over your food because they didn't care. I used to be made fun of by employees for changing out the table cleaning solution frequently because "it's not that big of a deal no one cares." Also if you know someone that works at Applebees and yall are enemies THEY WILL MESS WITH YOUR FOOD. A group of employees laughed and gossiped about how someone they didn't like came in so they told the cooks to over season their food and spit in it. It's been months since I've quit and driving by seeing a full parking lot of people eating contaminated food makes me sick. I'm not trying to cause drama or make them go out of business but I am not going to allow my friends and family to spend over $60 on a nasty meal.
