The first time I had my hair dyed at G&M I thought I was accidentally undercharged. Highly recommend!

I am so happy I went here! I live across the street from…read morehere and was in need of a haircut. I had passed by a few times at night and had always enjoyed looking at their decor through the window. Nice plants, cool vintage chairs with jewels, and satisfying blue color scheme. I decided to give them a call to book. Lila was able to work with my schedule and help me within 15 minutes, since her 3:00 pm slot was too late for me. She sat me down after offering me a refreshment and we sat and talked about the shape I wanted. She was honest about what certain suggestions might do, while also being really encouraging and building off my original vision. The previous salon I went to in Portland charged me $90 for a haircut, and it had bounce decor. I appreciated having a queer hairstylist, but felt a bit worries about inconveniencing her with my constant questions and suggestions. (Possibly bc I had a lot more hair to cut off and my appointment was an hour before closing). This experience felt so much better!! I paid $65 for a haircut and it comes with two weeks free of minor adjustments. This made me feel a lot better about paying anything over $30. Lila's haircut was a work of art and I appreciate that I felt safe as a trans masc person there. I def recommend Lila for LGBTQIA+ clients looking for a hair stylist that willing to have a conversation about your vision. Def a safe space!! Did I mention they have good water pressure too. Will be bringing my gf back for her haircut

I tried going to different places, but never felt like the stylist truly understood my new thinner hair. I finally searched for a stylist specializing in thin hair and came across Sarah Jean at Kitsune. I have never had a stylist understand not only what I wanted for my hair, but also had them make me feel like my fears were valid while instilling me with confidence as well! My hair looks amazing again, and I no longer fear every strand left in the brush. It is such a relief to be seen as a whole person and treated with such care; I literally cannot say enough good things about this place, and Sarah Jean specifically. For anyone else struggling to understand and care for their new hair reality please go see her, she will transform not only the way you look, but the way you feel as well.

I adore my previous…read morehairdresser Beth Tucker at Strange Powers salon, but frankly her talent for transformative, empowering cuts for the LGBTQ+ community were wasted on my boring bisexual hair. And while my hair might be relatively boring cut wise, its still important to me that it looks good and has at least SOME interest - I am pretty sure my bangs are 10% of my entire personality. Sara Jean did a fabulous job adding in some layers and cutting my trademark bangs. I've been working on trying to bring out my natural wave patterns, and her cut helped me get more wave on the top layers that get weighed down and tend to go flat. Sara was super easy and fun to talk to and I already have my next cut scheduled for early next year. The salon is open and clean and has a ton of natural light. Even on the dark grey rainy afternoon when I got my hair cut it felt light and welcoming.

I was more nervous because I have naturally curly hair and I've found that not everyone is good at working with curly hair. Then I found Lu Devore on Yelp through reviewers posting fantastic transformation photos of haircuts she had done, including curly hairstyles. I was sold! I found that she moved to The Bobby Pin recently and had online booking available. I booked my appointment with her that moment. When I met her, I was immediately at ease. She is calming, a REAL person, and just super awesome all around. I told her that she's the pro here, and I trust her judgement. I showed her a few photos of short cuts that I liked, but told her that she could do what she wanted. She said "I'll give you YOUR haircut." I was like, YEAH! She said so many great things that made me feel uber confident when I walked out the door sporting my new hairstyle. And yes Lu, I wonder why I hadn't done it sooner..... Probably because I hadn't found you. :) The haircut is fantastic!! It takes me half the time to get ready than it used to. I wear earrings that people can actually see, and my hair doesn't reduce my vision. I can wear lipstick without my hair getting into it now.... Just a few amazing benefits of my new 'do in addition to looking badass! I'm so lucky to have met Lu and I thank everyone for taking the time to review her.
