Love my Transformation Haircut by Lu!
    Shelly L.

For years I wanted to make the move to a short haircut. It wasn't until I was in Portland a few weeks ago that I was ready to cut it all off! I was more nervous because I have naturally curly hair and I've found that not everyone is good at working with curly hair. Then I found Lu Devore on Yelp through reviewers posting fantastic transformation photos of haircuts she had done, including curly hairstyles. I was sold! I found that she moved to The Bobby Pin recently and had online booking available. I booked my appointment with her that moment. When I met her, I was immediately at ease. She is calming, a REAL person, and just super awesome all around. I told her that she's the pro here, and I trust her judgement. I showed her a few photos of short cuts that I liked, but told her that she could do what she wanted. She said "I'll give you YOUR haircut." I was like, YEAH! She said so many great things that made me feel uber confident when I walked out the door sporting my new hairstyle. And yes Lu, I wonder why I hadn't done it sooner..... Probably because I hadn't found you. :) The haircut is fantastic!! It takes me half the time to get ready than it used to. I wear earrings that people can actually see, and my hair doesn't reduce my vision. I can wear lipstick without my hair getting into it now.... Just a few amazing benefits of my new 'do in addition to looking badass! I'm so lucky to have met Lu and I thank everyone for taking the time to review her. I wouldn't have found her if it wasn't for you!

Hair Magic in the Pearl District! If you are looking for a…read moresalon that perfectly captures that effortless, cool Portland aesthetic while delivering high-end, professional results, Carbon Salon is the absolute gold standard. Located in the Pearl District, this space is sleek, industrial-chic, and home to some of the most talented stylists in the Pacific Northwest. Here is why Carbon Salon is my forever go-to: The Atmosphere: The salon itself is stunning--think high ceilings, exposed brick, and a modern, minimalist vibe that feels luxurious but never pretentious. It's the kind of place where you can truly relax and feel pampered from the moment you walk in. The Consultation: My stylist took the time to actually listen to what I wanted. They didn't just look at my inspo photos; they checked my hair texture, discussed my daily routine, and helped me choose a cut and color that would actually work for my lifestyle. Masterful Color: I went in for a lived-in balayage, and the results were flawless. The blending is so seamless that it grows out beautifully without any harsh lines. They are clearly experts in "low-maintenance luxury" hair. The "Little Things": The head massage during the shampoo was life-changing, and the high-quality products they use (like Oribe and R+Co) left my hair feeling healthier than when I walked in. Plus, the coffee/beverage selection is a lovely touch! Professional & Kind Staff: Every person on the team is welcoming and genuinely passionate about what they do. You can tell the stylists there are constantly leveling up their skills and stay on top of the latest trends. Pro Tip: This salon is extremely popular, so definitely book a few weeks in advance. If you're looking for a total transformation or just a high-quality trim that actually holds its shape, this is the place. I walked out feeling like a million bucks. Thank you, Carbon Salon, for always nailing the vision!

I get individual keratin bind extensions and I also did a balayage with him recently! He does such an amazing job and I'm always in love with the finished look. I lost a good amount of hair the last couple of years due to some surgeries and then going on HRT (hormones). It was starting to bum me out and my colorist recommended Kristina. I'm so elated that she did! My hair feels and looks like it did before the stressful couple of years happened, and I feel like myself again with a little bit of extra umph because the extensions are making my hair feel even healthier. She matched my color to a T as well as the waves I have in my hair. I'm stoked on that because then I don't have to style it often... I can just let it air dry and it's exactly like my real hair! I didn't want extensions that looked like extensions and she did an incredible job. She's also super sweet and wonderful to chat with. Highly highly recommend her!!

She matched the extensions to my hair color and texture so well, I can barely tell where my hair ends and the extensions begin. What I appreciated most was the aftercare tips Kristina gave me - they were super practical and easy to follow. It's clear she doesn't just do this for a living; she does it because she loves it, and that passion shines through in her work. If you're on the fence about where to go for extensions, look no further.
