Riva was so helpful in solving a problem I didn't even realize I had! After a pelvic surgery about 6 years ago, I was never given PT, and in recent months was experiencing persistent, dull tissue pain around the scar site. Riva is approachable, knowledgeable, affirming, and worth every penny! I recently had an initial consult while pregnant with my second child. Just wanted to make sure I was taking care of my pelvic floor during pregnancy and wondering if I had any lingering issues from my first birthing experience. It was clear that Riva had read my intake survey and asked tailored questions to get a clear picture of what I needed. She paused regularly to give me time to ask questions. After talking for a while, she ran me through a pelvic floor anatomy and physiology lesson that even I could understand! She then summarized the plan for the rest of our session: flexibility exam, internal exam, a lesson on diaphragmatic breathing, c section scar massage and lesson, and a lumbar exam. At every step of the process, Riva made sure I was comfortable, she engaged in just the right amount of chit chat, she educated and coached me, and she provided reasons for what she was doing. She offered suggestions for at-home care and followed up that night with a series of emails to guide me through my home practice. What I especially appreciated about Riva is that she did not recommend a follow-up appointment prior to giving birth, meaning she wasn't just looking for reasons to get more money from me. I went to visit Riva for Pelvic Floor PT at the recommendation of my therapist. I had been suffering from a mysterious acute problem for 8 months that no OBGYN could figure out. I'd spent months feeling like I had a UTI but every test, every antibiotic, every ultrasound showed that "nothing was wrong." I also went to see Riva because of a chronic issue of pain during sex which began after I was sexually assaulted. Riva was great. She affirmed my experience with the "phantom UTI" validating that my symptoms were real and TREATABLE. When I disclosed my history of sexual trauma, she was very kind, and always respectful of boundaries and always made sure to ask for consent for any internal work. Forward a few weeks and my symptoms are gone. GONE. Pelvic problems I thought I'd suffer from forever have left me.
