I decided to roll again, just one more time. And I won the jackpot! I've been with 1st Class since February. I literally wanted to cry when I began to notice that I could walk most days without limping, that I could wake up in the morning and not be in pain. I can feel and see the difference in my ankle. (I cannot say the same about the first time I did pt with a totally different place -- not naming names! But that office was depressing and I left that place in more pain tbh.) My ankle isn't at 100% because my insurance won't continue paying for the appointments I *need*, so I had my last one the other day. But I am hopeful about my ankle for once! She listened to my needs and took everything I said seriously. She was instrumental in finally getting my diagnosis because she noticed a specific issue that previous therapists had missed. It's nearly impossible to find therapists this knowledgeable and experienced who also take the time to understand their patient's body and tailor the session to fit individual needs. The folks at 1st Class PT have greatly increased my quality of life. I'm in far less pain, get much better sleep, and am doing better in a myriad of ways. I've worked with Amid a few times too, and he's also amazing. He's deeply invested in his patients' wellbeing, and I always notice how delighted they are to see him. Seanette at the front desk is a godsend. She goes above and beyond -- whether it's dealing with my insurance or my PCP's office to confirm they sent that referral. The staff is very friendly, treat me well, accommodate my needs, and make physical therapy feel less like a chore. I don't know where I'd be without them! ‍ The staff here are LGBT+ friendly and IMO competent with trans bodies.

They're not trying to make me a recurring client to get a constant revenue stream...but I know I'll keep coming back until the pain is gone!! My shoulder was injured in 2016 in a skiing accident...I recovered and never thought about it again. Several months ago, I started to get spasms of pain at times when I used my right arm. During that period of…read moretime there was moments of relief, probably that longest stint being almost four years ago, the mix of the pandemic and losing my strength and therefore my confidence in strengthening because I didn't want to re-injure myself or be in more pain I started to feel the worst flare up i had since earlier on in this injury. Chiropractic and PT only provided limited relief and now I have gone to JJ for one month...and I felt relief within the first 2 sessions (i actually cried after my first session because I didn't think my hip would ever feel no pain) but this month has rebuilt my confidence in strengthening which was they key reason I wasn't to able any long term strides in getting better. JJ is no BS, doesn't sugar coat but he is also very encouraging and he is experienced and knowledgeable in all injuries/protocols and how to give you the tools so that your recovery is sustainable. This review is regarding two different treatments I've received for an extended length of time. The…read morereason I first came here was to work on a lower back and hip injury. To reach the office, you enter through the medical practice front door, whose buzzer has been broken since at least February. Then slide all the way down the hall to the PT practice and sign in with the very funny and on point scheduler, Crystal. Then wait. This is a super busy practice, and I marvel at how well they juggle the number of patients in rooms, exercising, or in the massage chair, but there will always be a wait, so be prepared. The head therapist, Sausan, is very thorough and professional, kind but she means business. The woman is also a diagnostic genius. She simply applies treatment based on what she is seeing in the moment, even if the referring doc suggested differently. We all know our docs can see us for 5 minutes and make assumptions, sometimes wrong. The other therapists also, especially Marissa, work hard to make sure you are pushed to a beneficial point, though that may involve yelling and crying (okay, that's usually me). I also, during the past 8 months of being treated for my back, developed positional vertigo. The practice owner, Dr. Motaz Elbeido, is a specialist in vertigo, and was able to reposition the loose crystals in my ear canal several times. After they would be fixed in the office, then the vertigo would return, Sausan decided to try working on my TMJ, as she suspected the vertigo was also neuromuscular, and she fixed it. I'm just impressed that they dive in to help so readily. If you are accustomed to being given an exercise plan and homework, they don't really do that, and there is minimal supervised plinth work, but it varies by patient. It's really been helpful for me and my ongoing issues.

2026 update!!! It's been a while, I moved away for a bit, and then when I moved back they were kind…read moreof far from me & I'm broke. But I threw out my back & I've had it with the steroid injections & bs. So I spoiled myself. They just reopened on Willoughby in Bushwick and oh my lanta!!!! It's a much more intimate space than they had 10 years ago, when you go for the community option I think there's only three beds now. Not only does the bed heat up, but the wonderful Dr Patchi put a heating lamp on my back for my cramps. LUXURY I swear this was a spa like experience! Patchi is super warm & chill, and SO intuitive with her hands. She also used a tens unit which I completely love. She is so so so skilled, and that excellent skill is overshadowed in the best way by her warmth. When we were done I slowly sat up and stretched my back a bit, and felt pops where I've been really needing to feel pops! She also did some needling for an ankle I broke last year that I'm still healing, and I'm really impressed by how much that worked. Of course it isn't magic, I still have cramps and my back is still rough, but both are much much much more manageable after just one session. I was tipped off to a pay what you can day coming up soon, and I really really really appreciated that (& immediately booked a spot). Being broke sucks, this economy sucks, looking for a job sucks, and it sucks even more when you feel like you're being judged for not having much money (esp since Bushwick is turning snooty). That tip was such a compassionate move, and it's so kind that they're having to pay what you can day!!!
