My letter to Dr Eldeeb in regards to the "gym" the bicycle machines with broken worn down pedals and a broken treadmill.

My PCP gave me a referral for rehab for my leg, I had sciatica. He directed me to Universal Physical Therapy, which was just downstairs(the Williamsbridge Road location). Reception was pleasant, but everything following was not. I was questioned about what was ailing me, why I was using a cane. The therapist then told me to get on top of the examination table, I noticed it was worn and some of the leather was peeling and cracked. He pulled up my pants leg and put some slippery cream on my right thigh, and then after about 5 minutes wiped it off. He then put on 4 electrodes around my knee cap and a top this a heating pad. I wondered if the pad itself was cleaned, I was guessing no from the looks of the dingy appearance of the room I was in. I was left on this table with my knee covered for what seemed like forever, no one told me how long I had to lie on that nasty flat cushioned table....as my lower back began to hurt, I sat up on my own disgusted, and removed the stuff on my knee. I had made up my mind that I didn't want any part of this dirty looking place. I went out to reception and told them that my stomach didn't feel good and had to leave. Then I noticed they had a closer location to where I live, I was thinking it had to be better than this, so I made an appointment and went to the Westchester Avenue location. The night before, I did check out their website and even watched the short movie, Dr Eleeb was bragging about being open since 1983....the place I had been certainly looked as though it was. Now the Westchester Avenue location was nicer, new and cleaner, reception was nice, very professional but oddly to pay my copayment, I had to have cash on me since they did not take checks and not outfitted for credit card payments, I thought that was strange and an imposition, but I worked with it. The examination rooms seem clean, but the small garbage pail was stuffed over the top with that thin paper they had covering the examination table, which was the very same one as the other location, cushion was flat and non supportive. I was getting the same treatment, the electrodes and heating pad, followed by leg exercises, then I'd be sent home. These last two weeks though, I was to go to the gym after my treatments. I soon learned that the gym equipment was not up to par. The bicycle machines-2; needed their pedals replaced as my feet kept sliding off them like every other minute, upon a close inspection I noticed not only were the bike pads worn, but the foot straps that were there at sometime were now broken off. I did complain a few times but the help would just look at me, finally they said they would speak to Dr. Eleeb. I wanted to use the treadmill but was told it was broken, this was the last straw, I decided to contact the good doctor on my own. But it seems Dr. Eleeb doesn't want to be contacted as his email and the website's email are disconnected. I then wrote up a fax and was successful sending it, I attached a copy below. I'm in contact with my insurance company and will be going to a different PT company. I'd stay away from this place.

I would recommend this place if you're in need of any physical therapy. The quality of care giving here is above and beyond. I'm glad this place was recommended to me by a friend. I will definitely come back if I'm in need of this kind of service again. Kyle is an excellent Therpy he has pushed me to go above and beyond and because of that I'm doing so much better. It was very hard for me when I first came here to even walk good let alone the numbness in both my feet. Kyle had brought me very far now I can walk a lot better and the Therpy isn't even over yet. Thank you to kyle you're the best and the staff love you guys. Also Emmy thank you for helping get better you're the best

I have never looked forward to physical therapy before, but this place is a delightful change…read more Everyone on the staff, from the front desk to the owner-manager Alex, is sincerely friendly and completely engaged. Other PT places I've succumbed to have been marked by tension in the air because the friendliness is superficial, the smiles glued on. Or the young PT staff gave me an exercise with a number of repetitions and then huddled in the corner to talk sports and their recent weekend frolics. Not so here: I feel an improvement and where I used to go home feeling depleted and pessimistic, I walk out of RSPT feeling stronger and hopeful. And aside from the congenial atmosphere, the exercises I've been asked (very sweetly) to do make sense. I don't see other patients given identical routines: the place is more like a cheerful gathering of neighbors (for a common purpose) than a factory. I can't recommend them highly enough! ==================================================== An update. Tomorrow is my last visit of 2025, because Medicare will only cover 28 visits in a twelve-month period. My enthusiasm for this practice and the people in it has only increased. The atmosphere is friendly without artifice, not the professional friendliness of people who would really rather you go away so they can continue chatting about last night's sports event. You might not notice it if you knew me six months ago, but I feel stronger and more mobile. This is not, I assure you, because I religiously do the exercises at home. (Long pause here.) But it is because the people I work with, especially Francy, Melissa, now and again Alex, Hannah, and Annabelle, have understood what exercises might help me and have guided me through them. The pleasantness begins at the front desk: Arlinda, Madeline, Michael -- all genuinely solicitous and humane. I think they understand that people come to PT with a certain amount of pain, impairment, and the accompanying embarrassment. Because of the gentle-spirited, light-hearted owner, Alex Sherman, the feeling of uncritical welcoming acceptance is felt all through the practice. I am sad to leave -- it feels like the last day of summer camp -- but I hope to be back in 2026.

I arrived 5 min late for appt because the parking situation is atrocious, regardless of how early I arrived. No warning from office when I made the appointment also, no confirmation call where, a heads up could have sufficed. There's a 15 min grace period, found out after check in. After standing there watching the girl behind the glass look flustered for about 5 min, followed by PT's coming over to assist her waiting another 15 min or so... I ask how much longer only to be told I was 5 min late and they are trying to find someone else to see my child. The time wasted scrambling, rather than have the already scheduled PT bring him in, access him, begin training him, and lose 5 min of the 30 session due to lateness... would have been a more HUMAN response considering the excessive wait period for appointments. Especially after observing several PT's behind the glass, "helping" the receptionist, including the one scheduled.
